Feel free to be as sentimental as you like. It's dark and chilly and I've just done 14 hours at work and not seen my children today.

Let's just have a lovely thread for all those "ahhh" moments.

I'll start. Last night DS came into bed with me for a bit because he was coughing and restless and I gave him a cuddle. He is only 10 mos old but I thought, even if he has no conscious memory of this when he's older, somewhere in his brain there will always be some dim, distant memory of his mummy holding him when he was poorly. Years later, when I'm dead or far away, somewhere there will be the memory of having been cuddled and loved.

What are your lovely thoughts about your dc?

My eldest has a heart of gold and always smiling. She loves so much and was so patient when I was struggling after her ds was born. She's only 3 but I feel like she's my best friend in the world.

My youngest makes me laugh so much. She's a little mini version of her dad and despite being a mere 18 months, can give a withering look that's scarier than most grown ups. Her fascination with her sister's tummy button is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

JellySlice · 18/12/2018 23:17

My ds in Y7 still wants me to put him to bed most nights, using the same little sleepy-story I've been telling him for nearly 12y.

I alternate between (silent!) "Awwwwww GrinGrinGrin" and (equally silent!) "Arghhhhhh HmmConfusedHmm. But mostly "Awwwwww "

My 5 year old son told my im his beautiful mummy today ❤️ most days he tells me and how much I'm loved such a loving boy x

I'm still breastfeeding my 2 year old DD. If I cough when I'm feeding her a little hand stretches out and pats my back 😍

GirlAtTheRockShow · 18/12/2018 23:30

@Nothisispatrick - I feel the exact same way about my 7 month olds little bottom! 😍 the first words I said when he was born and they held him up were "oh look at his tiny bottom!"

He is just the smiliest, giggliest happy baby in the world, I'm honoured to be watching him grow 💙

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/12/2018 23:33

DD made brownies for Christmas for the staff of our local Subway, we go there about twice a week and they always remember her order and chat to her. They were thrilled. She's really good at thinking of small things that make people happy.

HollySwift · 18/12/2018 23:36

My Y7 DS also wants to be tucked in every night. He was so resistant to bed as a toddler/younger child that I’m quite enjoying it now!
DS2 (10) is being an absolute superstar at school and it’s finally being recognised: his talents lie not in academics but in being a bloody nice kid. It’s about time that was appreciated too.
DS3 blows my mind daily with how he copes with life and is such a happy soul. He has ASD and this time of year is a real struggle but he’s coping so, so well. He’s also the most loving, cuddly and kind child I think I’ve ever met. I want to keep him as his current 7yo self forever I think!
DD(5) is also just brilliant. She’s universally known as being so well behaved, polite but also a tiny bit cheeky and very funny. She’s selfless and caring and a diva and definitely my very best friend.

I couldn’t be without any of them!

Bobbiepin · 18/12/2018 23:38

Nursery told me that my DD goes up to other children who are upset or playing alone to play with them.

She's 13 mo, God knows how DH and I made such a social baby because we both hate people generally.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 18/12/2018 23:38

My 13 yr old gave me a big squeezy hug today and kissed my cheek. Then listened in with us while I read to younger dc.
I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.

HappyHedgehog247 · 18/12/2018 23:41

My DD (5) wants to marry me when she grows up so she can live with mummy forever! 😍

PodgeBod · 18/12/2018 23:41

My 3 year old, I don't know where she got it from but she's been saying it for a while now, she says "Mummy, I love you and I like you". It honestly makes me tearful.

My little 2 year old is so lovely. If you give him anything he says 'tank oo, welcome ' everytime ... it just makes me laugh.
He also likes to cup my face in bed and then asks for a ' cuggle ' Oh I just love toddlers.
Dd5... well she is hilarious and we have great chats as well. She's getting bigger but still needs mummy hugs and kisses

leccybill · 18/12/2018 23:45

My 8yo DD wanted to take a present to the Grotto when we went to see Santa because 'who buys for him, mummy?'
She's a dream.

Joinourclub · 18/12/2018 23:50

My two love each other so much. My eldest is such a kind big brother and my youngest totally dotes on him and is his shadow. My eldest likes to ask to play the cuddle kiss game, which is basically kisses all over your face. It has him in hysterics.

HappyGoLuckyGo · 18/12/2018 23:54

Aw, these have made me well up. My DS is only 10mo but we have such a strong bond (SAHM with no family or friends nearby and DH works away weekly, so usually it’s just us two).

Lately he likes to hold my face close against his forehead and stay very still, especially when he’s in the highchair, and I can just see the love from his little smile. Last night he’d only fall asleep in his cot with my hand pressing on his forehead- I tried his tummy as recommended but he moved my hand and just held it there in the darkness, until eventually his hands fell away and he dropped off 😍

hopefullybettersoon · 18/12/2018 23:55

When my three year old first gets up in the morning with her hair all in disarray. She just doesn't care. If she's been sleeping in her own room the first thing I hear is a little pat pat pat pat pat then she comes into my room, climbs into my bed and gives me a big cuddle. Tonight though she's in my bed and she's just done a massive fart 😂

My baby is just the pudgiest baby ever and she's got these huge dark eyes. She melts my heart about a million times a day.

Nothing makes the baby laugh more than my toddler. When the older one is messing about and the baby is absolutely cracking up I swear it's just the best sound ever.

heiheithechicken · 19/12/2018 00:11

You know when you just have those moments where you just look at them and your heart melts. The wow you're actually mine moments. And when you have cuddles they just have that smell of 'home'.

GrumbleBumble · 19/12/2018 00:21

DH has been away for three months so my 7 year old DS has started the odd night in my bed (his room gets very noisy if it's raining) usually I shift him back to his room when I go to bed but last night I decided to leave him be and when I snuck in next to me he threw his arm around me and muttered "I love you so much Mummy". It was so bloody lovely.

JustSanta10 · 19/12/2018 00:26

My DS is 7 months old and when he wakes up crying (the crying itself isn't lovely!) I pick him and give him a cuddle he just falls back to sleep like nothing happened, it just makes me feel so loved and special that he just needed a cuddle from his mummy and all is okay in the world again lol ❤️

Newsername · 19/12/2018 00:30

My ds (7) always pinches my cheeks, hugs me and says “my murmy is so cutey, I have a cutey murmy”. He says this in an American accent too Grin. When I asked him why he says “murmy”, it’s because that’s apparently how Americans say “mummy” Grin. He is so sweet, he also comes and demands a “mummy hug” at least once a day, and an extra long one if we didn’t hug the day before. I love him!

polkadotpixie · 19/12/2018 00:49

My son is only 3 months old but it makes my heart burst with joy and love when he will only nap on my chest, his head snuggled into my neck or when he cries and immediately settles down as soon as I pick him up and hold him close to me

I am incredibly lucky to have him

meow1989 · 19/12/2018 00:50

DS is only 6 months but he's my little light.

If he wakes early he comes into bed with me and will fall asleep instantly if I put my cheek against his. If he doesn't want to sleep but is in bed with me he'll play whilst I doze and when I wake and turn him on his side to talk to him to start the day he gets so excited and positively beams with joy.

He's generally beaming and happy most of the time and people always stop to comment on how lovely he is and he'll coo back and smile at them.

I love all of his new developments, they delight me. I hope he never lives a day in his life where he doesn't feel loved and proud of himself.

His thighs are ridiculous! And he has pudgy little hands and one dimple on his right cheek when he smiles. Sometimes he'll drop the bottle teat from his mouth because he's grinning at us.

I'm so lucky to be his mummy. I could go in forever Blush

DGS, now a teenager, has always been kind and thoughtful. Several years ago, I got the news that an old friend of mine had died, while DP and I were on our way to visit other family with DGS and his mum. I went to bed early that night feeling very sad, and DGS came to my room to ask if I was ok.

PepperSteaks · 19/12/2018 06:35

DD is nearly 20 months and a complete dream. Everyone who meets her comments on how lovely she is. She is so smart and knows how to make me laugh. At the moment her favourite thing to do is push a Santa ornament around in a baby’s buggy. She is so doting on her new baby cousin and always runs over to the baby when she cries. She’s my little mini bestie and I just love spending time with her!
