Got a Christmas event tonight, some of it is outdoors, can't cry off as it would be letting quite a few people down, also kids are excited and has cost ££...

It's going to be horrible and cold!

I want to go to bed with electric blanket on! * weeps *

It's my younger sisters 18th birthday party, and my 2 year old DD has broken out in chickenpox today. Shes very uncomfortable and I feel so sorry for her. I don't want to leave her Sad I'm really not bothered about the party and I know my sister will understand, my DD is more important but feeling mega bad.

DavetheCat2001 · 15/12/2018 16:52

I have a night out with my DS's school mums in a naice pub this eve.

They're a great bunch and usually I'm bang up for a night out, but it is just so cold and shitty out there + I went out last weekend and got so hammered I felt awful for the rest of the w/e. Feeling tired today and a cosy night in just seems so tempting.

Oblomov18 · 15/12/2018 16:53

Always makes me sad to hear people not wanting to go to party's or events. It seems really common.

I am a complete party animal and go to every do. Ever. Grin

mynameiscalypso · 15/12/2018 16:57

We were supposed to be trekking to a Christmas party miles and miles away but it was cancelled (for admittedly sad reasons). I am so glad that I don't have to go out though.

Billydessert · 15/12/2018 16:57

Oh indeed! DS and I are both full of cold but I don't feel we can cancel. Shepherds pie sounds bloody lovely right now :(

isseywithcats · 15/12/2018 16:59

hopefully we will be able to get to the car as my frontage is solid sheet ice, luckily i still had some rock salt grit mix from last year so i have stood in the porch flinging grit and salt willy nilly over the front path to try and get some traction

LizzieVereker · 15/12/2018 16:59

This was me last week. I was DREADING it. But it wasn’t too bad in the end. And the relief tomorrow when it’s all over is lovely, if that helps.

Strawberrybelly · 15/12/2018 16:59

I've got my works Xmas do tonight and I really can't be arsed with it.

Wheresthebeach · 15/12/2018 17:02

Me...just feel like watching Strictly!

BaconAndAvocado · 15/12/2018 17:02

Brrr, was at DD's football match today. We we're put last night for DH's work do and out tonight with friends at a very gorgeous restaurant.

When we booked I didn't realise it's the Strictly final tonight Shock

Bless her heart, she's promised not to watch it without me.

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 15/12/2018 17:03

Me!

Dp wants to go to his and my favourite Chinese restaurant tonight for dinner because he says it's the last weekend he's right before guests arrive and then Christmas hits which means we then don't have the time until January.

I know once I'm there and eating it will be fine but I really just want to sit in my pj's with no bra on eating a curry and drinking lovely red wine Sad

I obviously haven't told him that because I'm acutely aware that it's lovely that he wants to spend (and pay) for a meal out with me on our own while we have an evening to do it so I'm feeling a bit bad to not be wanting to go.

Table is booked for 7-30pm so

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 15/12/2018 17:05

Do you know it's not the evening out that I don't want it's the going on a bus in the freezing cold!

Crinkle77 · 15/12/2018 17:05

I will be staying in with loads of munchies and the Strictly final.

UrsulaPandress · 15/12/2018 17:07

The three of us are going to a meet up with folk I haven't seen for ages. I was really looking forward to it when it was first planned. We were going to leave the car and walk home down the hill looking at all the Christmas lights. Now I just want to stay in, eat Pizza and watch Strictly. I've already baked so I suppose we must go ...........

SwimmingKaren · 15/12/2018 17:08

Yep. Tipping down with rain and I’m wandering round the house in my dress and shoes with hair and make up undone. Just can’t be bothered.

GreatWesternValkyrie · 15/12/2018 17:09

It’s cold and pouring down here - and I have nowhere I have to be. Plus all my present wrapping was finished last weekend, the food shopping is all sorted for Christmas and I’ve been to work events already. Hurrah!!! 😁

I am one smug festive fucker!

Sorry Op! I can offer a sympathy egg nog?

Justgivemesomepeace · 15/12/2018 17:12

Yep. Dp and I are off to see Bjorn Again (i know i know- was drunk and pressed buy) at The Academy in Manchester. This is not the night to be tramping round town looking for taxis. Hopefully nonone else will be daft enough to be out.

Mrsfrumble · 15/12/2018 17:13

Yes! DH’s choir is performing tonight and he’s bought me a ticket so I have to go. And I couldn’t find a babysitter so I have to take the children with me. On the bus then tube. I’m trying to persuade them it’s a big adventure and we’re showing daddy how much we love him, but it’s cold and pissing it down outside and they’re not convinced.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 15/12/2018 17:15

God you couldn't pay me enough to shift my arse off the sofa and go out in this weather. Surrounded by peacefully snoring dogs, film on TV, drinking prosecco and debating with DH what to order in for dinner tonight.

Ollivander84 · 15/12/2018 18:07

Me! Out out

Rockbird · 15/12/2018 18:20

If it's any consolation I've eaten way too much shepherds pie and I now feel sick! Still on sofa in onesie though.

Arrowfanatic · 15/12/2018 18:23

Yes, my children all have a Xmas party to go to. It's free and they're super excited to go but I'm not in the mood. At least it doesn't run late so I still have time to snuggle in pjs later, and I'm about 3 weeks behind on strictly so not worried about the final.

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 15/12/2018 22:44

So I'm back and it's been an unexpectedly lovely evening!

Just as we were leaving the owner of the restaurant caught us and presented us with a Christmas card and a bottle or red wine with a bow on it.

She said merry Christmas, gave me a hug and when I expressed my (genuine) surprise she said you mean a lot to me (the restaurant) enjoy it.

It was such a nice gesture that it's caught me by surprise.
I know the reality is she has a few bottles put aside for regulars and it's not a big deal but I don't care, I feel really special Blush

In my pj's now with a cuppie.
I did lose my gloves at some point though Angry

isseywithcats · 15/12/2018 22:50

same as you Ginky we have just got home slid our way to the car took two inches of ice off but am glad we went as quite a few people cancelled going, and my daughters sister in law had put on a fabulous buffet spread , the venue was nice and it was good to show my daughter that come hell or high water im there for her

FogCutter · 15/12/2018 22:59

I'm babysitting for friends at their house so they can go out.... on the back of me getting hideously drunk and having just 4 hours sleep last night.
