I had a long lie - didn’t wake up till 8.30am.

Then I watched a film - Dumpling - in bed, got breakfast in bed with my new fave thing, cappuccino, and am now bingeing on a box set.

I’ve not even got showered and dressed yet

All this, and my dog is curled at my feet.

This is rare and fab.

I’m not long up after finishing nightshift this morning so I’m still trying to waken up-more coffee needed!!
We’re away to decorate the Xmas tree, then a takeaway tonight as it’s the law that we have one on Xmas tree day 😁

BlueUggs · 15/12/2018 14:13

I finished decorating a cake for a friend's son's birthday today.

We went to an open day at my son's drama club.

We are now snuggled up in the settee watching Back to the future III.

icannotremember · 15/12/2018 14:14

My youngest had a terrible cold and is very sorry for himself so between snuggled with him I am cleaning the house. Have plans for wine later :)

icannotremember · 15/12/2018 14:14

*has, snuggles

Bloody auto correct

cleanasawhistle · 15/12/2018 14:16

I had a lie in too till 9am.
Freezing here so OH brought me up a cuppa and a hot water bottle while i played on laptop for a while.
Shower then lunch. Just sitting mumsnetting before I get ready for early evening /night out with friends....but the weather is awful and id rather stay in.

Wooferz · 15/12/2018 14:19

Had my annual haircut. Done the wrapping and now I’m watching White Christmas with a glass of sherry and a lot of mincemeat shortbread. I feel amazing Xmas Grin

Deadringer · 15/12/2018 14:20

I woke up feeling really sick! I have just managed to swallow a cup of tea so contemplating a slice of toast. The weather is shite and I have loads to do as we have a day out planned for tomorrow so all my weekend chores have to be done today. On the plus side, I am organized for Christmas.

Oldraver · 15/12/2018 14:29

Also didnt get up till gone 8.30...cat was so happy to see us as he had been outside from when OH went to work at 5.30

Did some ironing and now dont have anymore work or school clothes to do this year.. (that made me more happy than it should)

Knew we had to go into town but it's pissing down and we are on our bikes...took half an hour to get all the wet weather gear and get out of the house. First time on my bike for ages and had to push a little on the way home as was laden down

Had hot chocolate and piggies in blankets just now.

Going to out local panto later on

winsinbin · 15/12/2018 14:30

I have been decorating score paddles for a Strictly Come Dancing party later today so I am covered in gold spray paint and patches of glitter. This is my default happy state so it’s been a pretty good day so far.

Also DD passed her final accountancy exam yesterday and is coming over later to join in the Strictly fun so it’s just getting better and better.

DH has gone off to the football and then on to the pub to escape a houseful of Strictly fanatics so he’s quite happy too.

BarbedBloom · 15/12/2018 14:34

Laid in till 9 and now are having a lazy day as it is hammering down with rain and bitterly cold - yellow warning around here. Snuggled under a blanket and might put on a Christmas film in a bit. Lovely day

SlowNorris · 15/12/2018 14:35

Mincemeat shortbread? Is that like a mince pie but on a biscuit?

BeekyChitch · 15/12/2018 14:38

Well I'm currently listening to my DD and niece arguing about who has/is diarrhoea (none of them have it). They need out the house but it's blowing a gale and pouring. Pass the gin.

Bubba1234 · 15/12/2018 14:38

I had a lie on and my husband made us a fry. Then we relaxed chatting and watching tv in bed. I feel so relaxed.
I’m guna make an omelette now and go to the gym then meet my dh at Tesco s after for the weekly shop.
I was guna head out tonight but I’m in such a chilled out mood I wanna rest in bed some more and do my batch cooking for the week cos that ate into a lot of my time after work this week when I would rather come home all next week have the food already there eat quick tidy round then concentrate on the gym all next week to fit into this skirt on Xmas day hehe

PipGoesPop · 15/12/2018 14:39

How was Dumplin?

Wooferz · 15/12/2018 14:40

SlowNorris. Mincemeat shortbread is the best. Mincemeat sandwiched between shortbread top and bottom. 20 billion calories/Syns in but it’s christmas so fuckit

SlowNorris · 15/12/2018 14:43

Oh wow that does sound amazing, can’t believe I’ve never heard of it or seen it before.

I bet you’re in Scotland, Scotland has all the best food/drink/people/weather/pubs.

toomanypillows · 15/12/2018 14:46

Went out at 8am with DH and the DC to the city for breakfast and shopping - was lovely. Parked about 1.5 miles away and walked in, so no traffic stresses.
Came home and had coffee and biscuits while DC played with stickers and trading cards.
I'm now having a couple of hours work on my master's degree assignments while DH cleans the house and tonight we are going to put up the tree and watch a Christmas film. Perfect

Arrowfanatic · 15/12/2018 14:57

Got up at our usual 7am as my 2 girls have stage school from 9am. So we took them and whilst they were there took my son for a haircut.

Then home where I just chilled on mumsnet, dh went and got DD2 when her class finished and I made lunch, sorted some laundry.

Then dh went and picked up dd1 once her class finished (one finished at 10.30 & one at 12.30) and she made her own lunch.

More chilling, watched a tv show on my tablet and spent the last 40 minutes half heartedly snoozing whilst my cat is snuggled up in my arms like a little baby.

I need to get up, put the sheets back on dd2 bed, and get everyone ready for a party at stage school tonight but it's so cold and wet I can't think of anything worse than getting out of my snuggly sweater and joggers and in to a nice outfit. But kids are mega excited about it so I'll have to suck it up, but we'll drive down. No way I want to walk in this weather.

BlueJava · 15/12/2018 14:59

Lie in til 8:15am, got eyebrow wax/tint and hair done, complete Christmas shopping and all pressies/stocking filler are now bought, done the grocery shopping, had lunch with one of my sons in town which was lovely! It's pouring hard with rain, but a top day so far!!

Kezzie200 · 15/12/2018 15:03

Its Christmas Day for us! Our family is all over the country now, and many have to work or be on call. So, I suggested a weeks holiday (which we are currently on) and we picked the only rainy day this week for our Christmas Day. Im currently cooking dinner for 5 oclock, holed up in a perfect house overlooking beautiful countryside with the boys sorting the woodburner.

:)

U2HasTheEdge · 15/12/2018 15:24

I got home from a night shift at 9.00am. Went to bed and woke up at 13.00. My mum is here and I am trying desperately to curl my hair with straighteners for my work's Xmas do this evening. It is not going well so my daughter is giving it a go.

Can't imagine I will stay long tonight as I am super tired.

Stufftheturkeysholewithholly · 15/12/2018 15:32

Up at the crack of dawn to start clearing out the attic. Been swearing for years that when the christmas deccies are all downstairs that the attic will get sorted but never has done. Today was that day.
I now have the spare room full of crap to sell and give away, the bin full of utter shite to go out on Monday and just have to arrange the rest on the new shelving that I bought and put up today too. It is like a whole new room up there! We came back downstairs about half an hour ago for a break so I am enjoying a glass of wine and tipping away at the nachos and salsa and the kids are eating popcorn and lamenting the loss of their 'all time favourite toys' to the charity shop!!! I would very much like NOT to have to go back up but the moaning will have gotten to me in a short while and I will be going up for the peace rather than anything else.. I may just bring the wine up with me!

Babytalkobsession · 15/12/2018 15:42

I don't understand how those with kids seem to actually have down time! Mine fight & squabble, trash the house, Climb onto the worktop to get things I've put up high, beg / scream / trantrum to be played with constantly, don't watch movies....

Thought this was just parenting life but maybe I'm just shit at it!

AppleJuiceFlood · 15/12/2018 15:45

I’m back...

Now the sky Q is in, the takeaway has been reheated and eaten and we’ve walked two dogs in the pissing snow/rain/tiny needles of ice hitting off my face and now we are all home and in pjs to relax for the rest of the day. ☺️

JMAngel1 · 15/12/2018 16:05

Woke uo at 7.30 after a 11 hour sleeo - getting over a cold so much needed.
Took DDs to Post Office for 9 then into Trafford Centre for 9.30 - no shopping agenda, they just wanted to see the decorations and each spend some Xmas money - lovely time pootling around Build a Bear and Disney Store. I got 5 minutes in Selfridges Xmas food hall which was bliss and then Cafe Nero for yummy capoucino and toasted teacake.
Home just as it was becoming hectic.
Now just had a boiling hot bath with smelles, in lounge wear all cosy with candles whilst DH watches girls and just about to put up decorations with Fred Clause on in background. Thinking about brandy laced hot chocolate - nkt a bda Saturday.
Dumpling made me cry - such a feel good movie and reignited a Dolly Parton obsession on YouTube!
