Well when you wear your legs will look better ....

Erm didn’t ask what you thought to my body

Just asked what you thought to a dress

Eh?

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 13/12/2018 16:07

I don’t understand what she said?

But if it was unkind about your body, then yes, I’d be annoyed too. Show us the dress & we’ll help you out? Smile

Nquartz · 13/12/2018 16:13

I'm confused, I hope there's some weird auto correct going on because I don't understand....

I would take it as that dress looks weird without the right tights/shoes but when you wear it out with the right stuff it’ll look better.
You’d have to previous issues to be upset with that comment imo.

ARiverInEgypt · 13/12/2018 16:18

I’d need to understand what she said in order to judge. Could be fine, could be mean. Have another stab at typing it out.

RaspberryRipple1963 · 13/12/2018 16:35

Well when you wear your legs will look better. Xmas Confused. Sorry OP,but that sentence doesn't make sense!

Workreturner · 13/12/2018 16:37

I’d be worried she’d suffered some kind of neurological break down that impacted on her ability to speak properly

RJnomore1 · 13/12/2018 16:38

I'd take it as a positive that it made my legs look good?

(I think)

gamerchick · 13/12/2018 16:39

I read that 'when you wear your legs' like as in you take them off. unless you do take them off then I apologise.

Xuli · 13/12/2018 16:42

Do you mean, when you wear that dress it makes your legs look better?

If so, maybe it does make your legs look better, and that's a compliment surely?

ApolloandDaphne · 13/12/2018 16:48

Surely if you send a photo of you wearing a dress you are both asking if the dress is nice and if it flatters your body? I am assuming she said it makes your legs look nice which is great surely?

LardLizard · 13/12/2018 17:35

Sorry !! When you wear heels your legs will look better

OP posts:
Kukumbr · 13/12/2018 17:40

Lard, that’s something my mum would say! She’d mean it in a ‘nice’ way but it certainly seems a bit thoughtless and like a criticism.

LardLizard · 13/12/2018 17:43

I said something like what do you think to this dress and she stared at it and said something about when I wear heels my legs will look better

Erm I didn’t ask her about my legs

OP posts:
LardLizard · 13/12/2018 17:44

And despite my user name
I’m only a size 10-12

OP posts:
Sirzy · 13/12/2018 17:45

So she thinks it will look better with heels. Can’t see an issue.

If you don’t want answers don’t ask the question

ChocolateTearDrops · 13/12/2018 17:47

Think she meant that it would look better when you're wearing heels?

Shirleyphallus · 13/12/2018 17:47

I’m not sure why you asked her for her opinion if you didn’t want it?

LardLizard · 13/12/2018 18:14

Well I was in a changing room, so had no shoes on

OP posts:
Coyoacan · 13/12/2018 18:26

So she thinks it will look better with heels. Can’t see an issue

This!

A dress is to make you look good, so in her opinion you will look good in that dress if you wear heels.

I personally hate heels and never wear them, but some dresses do look better with heels.

ARiverInEgypt · 13/12/2018 18:26

Even if you’re slim, some dresses will make you look a bit dumpy if you wear them completely barefoot. Mums are normally allowed to be honest about whether a dress is flattering or not. It sounds like she was just thinking out loud.

shesaysgoes · 13/12/2018 18:39

Legs always look better in heels, your mum is right)

GreenDinosaur · 13/12/2018 18:40

Sound like my DM. I tried to be nice and include her by taking with me her to try on a wedding dress, she look one look said, "I suppose it doesn't make you look too awful..." and then carried on gushing to the sales assistant about how amazing my sister looked at her wedding. Hmm

7salmonswimming · 13/12/2018 19:05

I don’t think there’s a problem with her comment. I think you have a problem with your mum expressing her thoughts.

RiverTam · 13/12/2018 19:09

You wear clothes on your body, right? I must say I wouldn’t ever try on something that involved my legs in anyway without wondering if my legs look OK in whatever it was.

I think you’re being a bit silly.
