I can't believe it's December & we STILL haven't had a frost yet!

This has got to be the warmest December ever. Not once have I seen a frost yet. The odd misty morning but that's it. I live in a major city in the south. How is it for everyone else?

Somerset, and we’ve had a few frosts.

BeachtheButler · 09/12/2018 22:07

We've had 3 frosts that required scraping the car in the morning and about a week of freezing cold rainy weather. Heating's been on for a fortnight now.

sanityisamyth · 09/12/2018 22:08

Somerset so south west. Had 2 mornings of needing to scrape car windows. One was actually quite thick.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 09/12/2018 22:15

South west here too, and have scraped the car twice so far. It's been so bloomin' wet, that's why it's so mild.
I think December is often quite mild here, we get the colder weather end of jan/into Feb. I can't remember a really icy cold Christmas Day for years

Cerseilannisterinthesnow · 09/12/2018 22:30

Had quite a few in Scotland, particularly - frosts as well

Maelstrop · 09/12/2018 23:19

North London ish and scraped car twice, very solid frosts.

Stupomax · 10/12/2018 00:18

I probably shouldn't answer as I'm in New England, not the UK, but by the end of Nov we'd had 29" of snow.

And it's going to be -19C on Tues/Wed.

Hen2018 · 10/12/2018 07:57

We’ve had a few sharp frosts and had snow last month and in October! (Only 0.5 cm)

Welsh Marches.

Gogreen · 10/12/2018 08:00

Just a few, the days are not that cold for December though, I totally agree with that

Cheesymonster · 10/12/2018 08:02

I'm in Suffolk. We've had only one morning when I've had to scrape the car. It is so mild. People are saying they're cold and I'm sweating Grin

Orangedaisy · 11/12/2018 08:13

We’ve got one today (south London suburbs). How about you op?

Juanbablo · 11/12/2018 09:48

We've had a few frosts in Oxfordshire. Our village is on top of a hill so it's colder and windier up here.

thefuriousfuggler · 11/12/2018 10:20

Frosty here this morning. Heating has been on for weeks and we are in South West France!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 11/12/2018 10:29

Yorkshire here. Had a few mornings with ice on the car but nothing major. I am not complaining!

Rents · 11/12/2018 10:29

I bet the OP is in Portsmouth. We have our own microclimate in a depression between the Isle of Wight and Portsdown Hill

Lucisky · 11/12/2018 11:47

December can be mild. I would say it's been average here, with several frosts and even settling snow one morning a few weeks ago. I am west country.
I always think winter doesn't really kick in until January. It's 6 degrees here today and I'm about to light the woodburner.

Seeline · 11/12/2018 11:52

South London/Surrey here and we've had quite a few since November. Also had a day when it was definitely snowing more than sleeting.
Heating has been on since November too.

Winlinbin · 11/12/2018 12:30

South London here and I had to scrape the car one morning. It wasn’t a heavy one though.

amusedbush · 11/12/2018 12:40

I nearly broke my neck last week it was so icy on my way to work! Glasgow has definitely had a few frosts.

pontiouspilates · 11/12/2018 14:32

Suburban London. I've had to scrape the car twice so far!

EnidButton · 11/12/2018 16:04

Cumbria. It's very cold and there's been some frosty mornings but there's still some flowers in the garden which is very unusual.
The ones that bloomed after the hot spell, and the rain finally came back, are still hanging on. There's a hydrangea that has the usual brown dried heads with two huge bright blue ones on the middle, a climbing rose that still has some pink flowers on it and quite a few more that should've died back by now.

Definitely very cold though. Big coat, scarf and gloves weather.
