What can you remember that makes you seem ancient?

I remember us getting our very first colour TV.

I can remember a rag and bone man coming up my granny’s street - can’t remember if it was a horse drawn trailer or not.

Granny had an Anderson shelter.

I remember not having to wear seatbelts.

When everyone used to smoke at work and in pubs.

So true!

OneToThree · 21/12/2018 08:51

When a packet of Walkers crisps were 8p.

Baker and milkman delivering from carts drawn by horses with blinkers. If you saved up four farthings, the baker would kindly exchange them for a penny.

Twizzle (ancient kids TV programme)

I remember Twizzle with the stretchy arms and legs. Didn’t he have Footso the Cat, with great big paws hence his name?

Having weekly comics. I had Jack and Jill and Playhour, and a kind relative sent me Robin.
I graduated to Bunty and Judy with the cut out dress up dolls on the back. I painstakingly stuck them on card so they would last longer and spent hours playing with them.

I used to love cut out dolls. We only had an outside toilet until I was about 7 and I didn't have central heating until the early 90s. I can remember just two channels on the black and white TV as well. I was working a Saturday job when decimilisation happened as well. We didn't have a phone at home until I was about 14 and we also didn't have a car.
I suppose I am old though - just not old enough to retire yet

Shockers · 23/12/2018 09:06

I can remember crisps being 2 1/2p a bag! Mars bars were the same price.

I’m as old as time itself.

Shockers · 23/12/2018 09:07

I think I already said that on this thread though.

Repeating myself- that makes me feel like my Grandma.

Singing along to 8 track tapes in the car
