Hotel staple, but what is it?

Has anyone in the history of ever, worked out with the fuck this thing is?

I think it’s to put shoes on.

Or it was originally a very small deck chair and a prolific thief has visited every hotel to steal half of it.

Luggage on floor = bed bugs.

For your suitcase, so you don't get the bedding dirty

This,

I didn't believe it and asked in a few hotels.

RumDo · 07/12/2018 21:12

Not the question I know, but I think you’re supposed to put your luggage in the bath to prevent you picking up bedbugs from the room, aren’t you?

thereallifesaffy · 07/12/2018 21:35

It's for luggage. But the bed bug connection? I had no idea. Blimey I'm going to use the contraption next time I'm in a hotel

UrsulaPandress · 07/12/2018 21:39

Bath is best

Unsureofmyselfx · 07/12/2018 22:04

Just in case anyone is still following the benefits f having a room in the hotel is that I can come up half way through the party and have a little lie down, ‘cept now I’m worried about bedbugs

I’m going to admit that this one has baffled me for years too! I wondered if it was some kind of laundry dryer for your smalls, or a strange kind of seat. I’m glad you asked the question OP as now I know without the embarrassment of asking myself Grin

Pigletthedog · 07/12/2018 22:33

But surely just being in the room with your clothes and stuff means you might bring bedbugs home? Or are they fooled by the suitcase stand??

StealthPolarBear · 07/12/2018 22:41

Are you asleep yet op??

DukeOfEarlGrey · 07/12/2018 23:04

It’s definitely for luggage! I’ve always wondered (tried sitting on it once, didn’t work) and then today I arrived at a fancier-than-usual hotel and the bellboy brought my luggage to the room and put it in that thing! Mind. Blown. Didn’t know the bedbugs thing though, also now worriedXmas Grin

babysharkah · 07/12/2018 23:16

Sleep on the suitcase holder the bed bugs will be in the bed 😂😂

titchy · 07/12/2018 23:22

Design flaw

Yeah - in the case - should be hard cover not soft Wink

Hic!

Straycatblue · 08/12/2018 23:08

Any hotel Ive worked in there was one in each room that we were taught to use them to put the room service trays on and would take an extra one up with us if we had more than one tray to put out ie if they ordered loads of food.

Doubletrouble99 · 09/12/2018 00:24

It's for your suitcase but of course a lot of bags now a day are more like holdalls so not always suitable!

LassWiADelicateAir · 09/12/2018 00:39

It's badly designed as it's too small and too low. The case should be at a height that you can comfortably unpack it. Also should be large enough that a standard size suitcase can be laid on it fully opened up so you can unpack both halves.

I'd be puzzling too about what you've got there as it doesn't look fit for purpose
