Love a good disaster film. Just watching 2012. What's your favourite?

San Andreas. It keeps giving disasters and the special effects are great and it's funny. Just when most disaster films go to sentimental crap, San Andreas has a tsunami. I love the ripple of the earthquake going through the town. I just wish there was a volcano.

Avrannakern · 07/12/2018 20:34

Unstoppable!

starlight45 · 07/12/2018 20:34

Oh Garybaldbiscuit, how could I forget Cloverfield? I love that film! I love it when the girl says 'I don't feel so good ' and boom splat! And when the other girl they rescue from the wonky building shrieks 'What's that?' An the other one says 'More bad things.'

coffeeagogo · 07/12/2018 21:18

@Mrsfrumble glad I am not the only one with serious psychological scars from watching crappy disaster movies!

I also really like twister 🌪

GaryBaldbiscuit · 08/12/2018 08:32

Also loved Final destination, if that counts, and have a chuckle when I am on a train journey, arriving in London and the guard announces this is the Final destination Grin

ScreamingValenta · 08/12/2018 08:37

A tie between Outbreak and the Poseidon Adventure.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/12/2018 08:49

Towering Inferno

...
Fun fact - the film was edited to ensure that the two co-stars, Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, spoke exaotly the same number of lines.

mogtheexcellent · 08/12/2018 08:54

The tsunami film with ewan McGregor in is good as well.

No escape sends chills down my spine.

Daylight was on in the summer. Have recorded it but not watched it yet.

I also love air force one.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 08/12/2018 09:08

The last 30 minutes of Deep Impact.

kenandbarbie · 08/12/2018 09:24

Oooo they're my favourite kind of movie. I like independent day and the day after tomorrow. Any movie where they show French people wearing berets beside the Eiffel Tower and nomads in a tent in the desert huddled round a radio listening for updates has to be good in my book.

harrypotterfan1604 · 08/12/2018 09:26

Twister & Volcano

chipsandpeas · 08/12/2018 09:31

earthquake and the towering inferno are my top 2

also the airport films and posiedon adventure (original one)

TSSDNCOP · 08/12/2018 18:24

I’m poorly sick in bed. This afternoon I’ve watched Apollo 13, Unstoppable and Geostorm!

Orangecake123 · 08/12/2018 20:39

Day after tomorrow.

Miljah · 08/12/2018 22:57

I could video my life for you if that would help! ...😂😂😂

Bumshkawahwah · 09/12/2018 00:49

@coffeeagogo - when I think of Earthquake, I think of the lift scene. Love that film. Towering Inferno is another favourite. Also, Airport 1975!

MotorcycleMayhem · 09/12/2018 01:03

Day After Tomorrow. I get cold watching it though. The power of suggestion I suppose.
Twister
Dante's Peak

Can't do fire - I have fears and it relates to real life experiences, so The Towering Inferno is a No Way for me.

Thought Deep Impact was crap, same for San Andreas, and I like crap films as escapism, but those two took the biscuit!

MichelleJ79 · 09/12/2018 01:04

The Impossible

Titanic

TSSDNCOP · 09/12/2018 01:18

I've just watched Skyscraper. Once again the Rock surpassed my expectations. How he one-leggedly scaled up and down that burning building using only duct tape was nothing short of the fine actor you've come to expect.

Graphista · 09/12/2018 02:34

I forgot a classic

Jaws

Just been watching jaws 2 one of the better sequels made. That poor girl hiding in the boat ShockSad

LondonLassInTheNorthPole · 09/12/2018 02:44

The Impossible -

Based on a families true story of being caught up in the tsunami on boxing day 2004

I cried 4 times, and im not a crier
