Agree with Towering Inferno and Poseidon Adventure

Me too. I loved watching disaster films as a kid I was an odd kid

Also, this one is good and very dark:

Towering inferno
Silver streak

Die Hard 4 is my ironing film.

Have you noticed Towering Inferno, a Boxing Day classic, dropped off the radar after 9/11?

I've been out of the UK since 2006, so it may have been restored. After a decent interval.

JaneJeffer · 07/12/2018 08:17

Day after tomorrow. Best worst film ever!

Ironfloor269 · 07/12/2018 08:54

@TSSDNCOP, is Apollo 13 a disaster movie? In that case, that'd be my no. 1, because that's my all time favourite movie. Ever.

Ooh now I want to watch Towering Inferno.

And of course, Poseidon Adventure. How could I forget that? I must have watched it a billion times.

Perfect Storm - such a realistic disaster movie. Love it.

Whowouldathunkit · 07/12/2018 09:05

The Road.

The opening monologue is just epic.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 07/12/2018 09:09

Another vote for the Poseidon Adventure. Haven't seen it for donkey's years, but it really is memorable.

IndigoSpritz · 07/12/2018 09:11

The Towering Inferno. Never get bored of watching it.

LucheroTena · 07/12/2018 09:11

Independence Day is a classic. All the rest pale next to it.

JasperRising · 07/12/2018 09:13

Deep impact, Armageddon, day after tomorrow, independence day, Apollo 13 (if we're counting that). Found 2012 a bit too repetitive with the escapes (even for a disaster movie). Will pretty much watch any of them if I am doing boring housework... Which is also mad because I get freaked out by them and should never watch them alone at night (but I do sometimes). The only ones income hard to rewatch are perfect storm and the more recent one about reducing people from a tanker that splits in half - I and friends do a lot of water based activities and those ones cut just a bit too close to home!
