What’s the one thing you have done that you never thought you would?

Mine is quite lame but, I don’t like heights and had to attend one of those work get to know you days at it was at Centre parcs and I had to jump off of various far too high woodland obstacles.

I loved it! I’m old and can’t believe I left it so late to fling myself off high obstacles.

I now want to do a parachute jump. 30 year old me would never do it Grin

Had children. I was always adamant I would never want kids, even a year before DS1 I couldn't imagine myself ever being a parent...now have 3 and I can't imagine not having them!

SneezesBreezes · 07/12/2018 16:10

Pretty shocking but after I split up with ex, I escorted for a few months to save up for a deposit on a flat before I could return to university to finish my degree.

I'm so ashamed but as I was studying far from my mum, who unfortuantely couldn't help me financially, I just had to do it.

Moominfan · 07/12/2018 16:11

Hidingtonothing that's an amazing achievement, you've done it once, so you know you can do it's

Moominfan · 07/12/2018 16:13

Learned to drive, took my test three times.

Quit smoking

Quit alcohol

Climbed three biggest mountains in uk in 24hours

Hidingtonothing · 07/12/2018 16:18

I do know I can. I can see so clearly how this happened and what I need to do to fix it, just having trouble actually putting it into practice. I'm starting to talk about it though, admit there's a problem so I'm probably heading in the right direction. Thanks for the support, it's appreciated Flowers

1400spincycle · 07/12/2018 16:18

Go on Countdown and win a teapot

Touch Peter Andre's hand.

Get bitten by both a zebra and a llama.

Feature in a gay porn film (fully clad).

What can I say? Sometimes you just have to dare to dream.

Rudgie47 · 07/12/2018 16:24

@SneezesBreezes, don't be ashamed in life you sometimes just have to do what you think is for the best at the time.
Forget it.

Ambernectarine · 07/12/2018 16:26

And, of course, be quoted in the Daily Mail, talking about crotchless bodystockings on here.

Almost checked off my bucket list at 33.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 07/12/2018 16:31

Home educated my kids.
It was just never even on my radar, until school just really wasn’t working for ds2. We’re now on our third year and just really happy (ds1 also joined us at home for a year, passed his exams, and is now at college).

SneezesBreezes don't be ashamed.you did a really brave thing to get to where you are today.shows a lot of strength, grit and determination if you ask me.and you also managed to stop right? that's a real positive as many get plunged into dark path with it.
could you have done it any differently at the time?obviously not so its your path and your past now.

TurquoiseWeekend · 07/12/2018 16:53

Have a baby... almost!
I've had losses and many years of trying with no luck and I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant and praying it carries on going as well as it is so that I can be a mum in 12 weeks time!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 07/12/2018 17:12

@Hidingtonothing you're on the road already, just by talking about it. You can do this. You have done this. Sending you strength and support and Flowers

Moved to USA. I was one of the only ones in my circle who had no interest whatsoever in moving from home.

LOVE being a grandparent. I also swore I did not need any grandchildren, not necessary thank you. Yep, I'm THAT grandparent. Besotted.

Jumped off a boat (okay, slowly descended into the very deep water) in the open water. I always thought it looked amazing, but I would never be able to do it. It was amazing. And so liberating.

Great thread, OP

Held a burrower owl, picked up and held a bantam chicken. That may sound rather rubbish but I've had a huge phobia of birds for years and have worked hard to overcome it.

NopeNi · 07/12/2018 17:32

Cheesily enough, falling in love and having him love me back was the big surprise to me. The rest is just stuff I've had to get through, but I never thought love was possible (or real) until it happened.

GoblinsAndGhouls · 07/12/2018 17:36

I play bass in a punk band. Always loved punk but was bullied and manipulated out of it by my mother because it wasn't for nice, middle class girls and was bullied out of playing bass because it wasn't for any sort of girl.

I'm in my 40s and now I gig most weekends.
