Mid thirties and it’s passed me by. My family wouldn’t watch it so I never have.

God, no. Foreigner and republican. She’s a ridiculous anachronism. I can’t believe people stand for it. Do you doff your paper hats, too?

I only saw it for the first time about three years ago- DH is from RoI and wanted to watch it when we were at my parents in NI out of curiosity. Not sure what he was expecting, but he was very disappointed!

I said why wouldn’t you watch the queens speech not why wouldn’t you watch her Christmas message. They are 2 entirely different things.

Yeah, I saw what you did there, but my answer would have been the same so I decided not to bite.

I say "union jack" when I'm not at sea as well, by the way.

But the queens speech is delivering the government manifesto for the year. I love watching it especially when there has been a change of government. I’ve never ever seen a flicker on the queens face - I would so love to know what runs through her mind at times Grin

Very little, I suspect. They're not the brightest stars in the firmament.

Thank you BalloonSlayer I thought that was a thing but old age mid forties are catching up with me and I'm not always sure I remember correctly all the time, brought back memories of the National Anthem being played at the end of TV scheduling when it finished for the night too. Ahh the happy days of only 3 or 4 TV channels that actually stopped for a bit.

BlackBagTheBorderBinLiner · 05/12/2018 23:21

I was on a TV thing a few years ago, they repeated 6 hours, back to back, on Xmas day - that's far longer than that queen ever manages 😁

I remember being up early enough to watch the test card waiting for the kids tv to start.

I'm 58 and I've never seen it. I haven't actively avoided it, it's just not on my radar
