I think social services will take my children

At the weekend I went on a very rare night out, the children were with my DH. I had a lot to drink & was horrifically drunk I also had a steaming cold. I don't remember much but a friend offered me a nasal spray "to help with my cold" - I took it a nd the whole table laughed - it was coke. I can't believe I was so stupid I'm the most straight laced person ever when it comes to drugs. Never seen them, never even smoked.

I've felt awful all weekend and my heart has been racing. Today I went to the hospital and had to have an ECG. I obviously told them what has happened because I thought I was having a heart attack. Are social services going to be informed \ take my DDs?

And why on earth would you be ashamed? Confused The only mistake you've made is in your choice of friends, by the sounds of it!

supersop60 · 03/12/2018 17:29

They are not friends. To do that, and then laugh????

brizzledrizzle · 03/12/2018 17:29

Your so called 'friends' need to be told to fuck off to the far side of fuck and then fuck off some more.

Heartofglass21 · 03/12/2018 17:30

Are you sure it was cocaine you snorted? I can't see how a line of coke can be disguised as a nasal spray. I think your 'friends' have played a malicious trick on you, leading you to believe you inadvertently took a class A drug, for shit and giggles.

tenbob · 03/12/2018 17:31

Your friends sound horrific, but I'm also not sure how they could get coke (a powder) into a nasal spray

Are you sure it wasn't a legal high or something else?

Shriek · 03/12/2018 17:43

Stop worrying and lose the 'friends' nasty bastards and report them to the police. They are not funny they have put your life at risk as they had no idea what meds you could be on and the risks to you.

RebelWitchFace · 03/12/2018 17:46

I seriously doubt anyone would even refer you to SS, much less have any action come from that referral.

InspectorIkmen · 03/12/2018 17:49

Do you know anything about how Social Services operate OP? I am guessing not. If you seriously think they've got time to come and scoop up your children because you might have ingested cocaine unintentionally ONCE on a night out then you are completely clueless.

MysteryPill · 03/12/2018 17:51

It wasn't a line of coke it was a spray - hospital confirmed it can be in spray form.

I'm ashamed because I was so naive. It never crossed my mind it could be drugs and it should have done. Then I wasted NHS time and resources and now I might be introducing social services into my children's lives and have to tell my husband how stupid I was.
Would they have told me if they were going to make a referal?

So basically you were drugged against your will without consent.

Fucking appalling behaviour from those people around you that night.

SS won't be involved.

cowfacemonkey · 03/12/2018 18:03

Bless you. Try not to worry SS won't get involved. I wouldn't think twice about reporting your friend though, what a shit head

Littlefrog99 · 03/12/2018 18:04

They wouldn't necessarily tell you if they were referring you but it's unlikely that they will. Honestly, I'm quite sure you have nothing to worry about. My friend's ex made a false allegation to SS about her taking cocaine around her children and she had a visit, they had a quick chat and the social worker left reassuring my friend that she could clearly see she had nothing to be concerned about. Even if SS do visit you they can tell a bad parent from a good one.

bullyingadvice2017 · 03/12/2018 18:06

I doubt very much it will be passed on. Need some new mates tho. X

PhaedrasChocolate · 03/12/2018 18:07

Alright Inspector, calm down. OP is worried and this isn't her fault. Don't know what your attitude is all about Hmm

Perren · 03/12/2018 18:08

You were effectively spiked. I don't think it's even a possibility that they would be informed

megletthesecond · 03/12/2018 18:09

You learn something new every day.
Google tells me that coke in a nasal spray is a thing apparently. Less likely to get caught as it doesn't look like drugs.

KitKat1985 · 03/12/2018 18:13

I really can't see why social services would be informed about this. Come to think of it the hospital may not even realise you have kids unless you told them!

I think I'd send your 'friend' a fuck off messages though.

AssassinatedBeauty · 03/12/2018 18:17

You're not responsible. These "friends" essentially assaulted you, drugged you against your will and knowledge. I'd be reporting them to the police. Social services won't be interested in the slightest. The PP is correct that your children weren't even slightly at risk. Stop punishing yourself and get angry about these stupid people who endangered you.

Graphista · 03/12/2018 18:34

You know what? I'd be laying an almighty guilt trip on these "friends" tell THEM police & SS involved and you've had to give their names, police & SS will be in touch

2 can play the tricking someone into doing/thinking something very worrying thing!

No more then they deserve I reckon

HauntedPencil · 03/12/2018 18:34

Well how would you know? No one would expect people to be that bloody stupid

ApolloandDaphne · 03/12/2018 21:27

They WILL NOT make a referral.

MissMalice · 03/12/2018 21:28

They would have told you if they’d made a referral. There’s no way social services would be interested in this.

Bluerussian · 03/12/2018 21:29

You will not be reported to social services. You explained what happened, were obviously horrified when you realised and it was a one off. Hospital staff see plenty worse.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 03/12/2018 21:31

Why would you think it would be drugs? I certainly wouldn't have thought it if a "friend" had offered me a nasal spray. That is absolutely bloody appalling behaviour by these people, and not funny at all. I wouldn't care about them and would report them to the police. They certainly don't give a shit about you.
