Ten years since Woolworths closed Does anyone else still miss it?

It was a good place to do a Christmas shop if you wanted to get all or at least most of your Christmas shop all in one place in one hit DH liked it for this reason. I remember my mum buying us Ladybird books from here. They were on a stand near the entrance near the pick and mix.

Bought loads of tapes there as a teen. Last winter my mum gave me a scarf and gloves set still in its Woolworths carrier bag which shed never worn. Dusky pink and the scarf is really thick and kept my neck warm during Beast from the East.

I remember the last thing i bought from there before it closed was the Christmas Radio Times for Christmas 2008.

The Woolworths i grew up near wasnt very nice.
Dirty, overpriced, cluttered and used mainly as a cut through from the high street to the carpark.
So no, I don't miss it. Amazon does what Woolworths did only better and cheaper. With prime you can also get benefits such as access to 1000s of hours of Video and free next Day delivery of 1000s of items.

Every little town had a Woolies. Since ours closed we have to travel 15 miles to buy any of the thousands of useful items they sold. Miss it for light bulbs, toasters, dusters, kids’ clothes and toys, stationery, roast peanuts, sewing things, seeds, paint, torches, make up, pick and mix and so much more.

I miss Ladybird dressing gowns and the Woolies Cafe.

I did a Christmas temp job there when I was 16. Very fond memories of joy riding the replenishment trolleys up and down the long aisles in the stockroom.

I've got some striped glass table mats and coasters from Woolies. People often say how nice they are. Were dead cheap too. Loved a good wander around Woolies 😢

I was 14 when it shut and can't really remember it tbh...
