Op use the time between now and vomiting to get some supplies so that you are prepared...e.g if you don't want to spend the night in the bathroom get a sick bowl or plastic bags to vomit in...get some tissues/kitchen roll to wipe your face afterwards and a glass of water ..also if you are going to Rick food I'd stick to dry toast...though ginger biscuits has had a calming effect when I've had nausea before....

Also make.yourself comfy e.g in bed or in your sofa and if you can't sleep stick the tv on to watch or put the radio on to listen to (if you have others in the house it may be better to use headphones so you don't disturb them...)...the tv/radio will help as a distraction if you can't sleep

Feel better soon opFlowers

SuchAToDo · 29/11/2018 01:24

*risk eating food...not Rick food

SeaToSki · 29/11/2018 01:24

Sending you hugs, try and grab a hair tie and remember to not leave the bathroom too early, sleeping on the floor in a towel can be a good idea.

Good advice, but a bit late Envy - not envy.

I’m back in bed now and wondering if sleep will come (also wondering what the hell I have eaten to cause this).

OP posts:
HerculesTheBercules · 29/11/2018 01:26

Ps I doubt that will be my only visit. Sigh.

I have such a busy day at work tomorrow, and I doubt I’m going to make it in at this rate.

OP posts:
Popskipiekin · 29/11/2018 01:28

I doubt you should make it in at this rate! Get well soon Flowers

penisbeakers · 29/11/2018 01:28

It might not be anything you've eaten, it's norovirus season unfortunately.

Popskipiekin · 29/11/2018 01:30

(Sorry, didn’t mean to sound fierce! Just astounded you were thinking you’d be able to go to work. Think you’ll need your rest and things will have to wait until you’re better.)

HerculesTheBercules · 29/11/2018 01:31

Oh, noro does NOT sound like fun.

I’m more hoping it was a dodgy sandwich at a funeral I was at today, and that once it’s all out I will feel better

However, I’ve been sick a few times now, so things are not looking good.

OP posts:
HerculesTheBercules · 29/11/2018 01:32

Thanks Pop, I didn’t think you sounded fierce at all.

Lots of sickness bugs around at the moment. Half my office is off at the moment.
I suggest leaving a bucket/bowl by the loo in case both ends kick off at the same time.

QuestionableMouse · 29/11/2018 01:41

If you have a sickness bug you can't go out tomorrow. You'll only spread it on.

Sips of coke will help as will eating a bit of toast or plain biscuits. It hurts less if you have something to throw up.

Hope you feel better.

Popskipiekin · 29/11/2018 01:47

Dodgy funeral sandwich? Shit, talk of adding insult to injury, that is about as grim as it gets Sad Sorry, what a miserable ol day for you! And horrid that you keep being sick. It’s such a relief when you get a proper load out but then hell for it to keep carrying on... what’s the busy day at work all about then? Can you commandeer some minions to do some of it for you?

HerculesTheBercules · 29/11/2018 01:55

Hi - posting is distractingly, so chat I shall.

I’m not casting any aspersions on the quality of the sandwich, I was just hoping it was something I had eaten.

The funeral itself was lovely, a life well lived, packed with joy and fulfilment, is what most of us would long to have, and his family captured that perfectly.

As for work, nothing like sickness to prove none of us are indispensable, eh?

I have a training session I am co-leading, but a colleague can ably handle, and a host of busy cases to finish off - I’ve got a very lovely and capabale ‘minion’ who will step up, but she’s got her own workload too, so I feel bad about that.

DH just hear me coming back into the room and says he had the puking bug a few days ago. He has a health condition which makes him feel unwell a lot of the time, so he has mentioned not being well and I never thought to ask the details.

He tells me I will feel bad for a few days, but that it’s gone after that.

Sigh.

If it's norovirus, you'll likely be puking and things coming out the other end for about forty eight hours, with a fever and the aches from vomiting so much. All you can do is sip water and try to keep hydrated. Please don't go into work as it's horribly contagious and usually causes hospital closures every year with how quickly it spreads, especially to the elderly and infirm.

I hope you feel better soon, it's really horrid. I've had it a few times and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

MarcieBluebell · 29/11/2018 05:49

Gosh op. Drink plenty and I really hope you get some sleep. :(

HerculesTheBercules · 29/11/2018 07:04

I’ve had nothing but a sore stomach now for a few hours - I definitely won’t be going to work today though .

Thanks for keeping me company in the bleak wee hours.

Hope you’re feeling a bit better. I just wanted to say you’re so brave! I know that sounds weird but I have emetophobia. Is this how normal people feel about bebig sick - not pleasant but no fear??

HerculesTheBercules · 29/11/2018 08:23

Yep, that’s how I feel about it.

It’s yucky, and I don’t like it, but I am not scared of being sick.

Hope you stay totally free from bugs so your anxiety is not triggered, cos that must be hard going for you.

Fluffyears · 29/11/2018 08:47

Norovirus sucks i’ve Had it twice courtesy of my beautiful niece and her kisses of death. I was totally fine, there up continually for two days then suddenly was fine again. Luckily it was just sickness and not the other end. The doctor advises trying to sip water as you need to keep hydrated even though you end up just chucking it all back up. Hope you feel better soon.

StoneMe · 29/11/2018 09:07

I was also up around the same time! Was on the loo and then had to rush forward to the shower to vomit in!! Hope you feel better soon

smurfy2015 · 29/11/2018 09:07

Soft backrubs to you OP, it helps to get it up and out,

Also, when you are heaving and know about to throw, pinch your nose shut at the bottom with one hand and let it all come out

The pinch, stops it coming thru your nose and potentially getting trapped in your sinus leading to burned nose and sinus on top of everything else unless your sinus drains well but if have any problems before then you then have the potential to add sinus infection to it.

Small nibbles so you have something to take up if need be, hot water bottle / wheatie bag, sleep if you can, towels on the bed just in case, they can be washed, drink sips little and often (i was told one/two sips approx every 5 mins), it keeps you hydrated without overloading your system.

I find an old saucepan most comforting, I can lie on my side in the bed and hang my face into it, go up and empty into the toilet and rinse and repeat (ad nauseum - sorry couldn't resist). The saucepan doesnt have any other use, it's from an old set and doesnt match any current ones so is easy to spot, its known as my puke pot - I am ill often due to chronic conditions so this is common to me by now.

Lots of hand washing, new toothbrush once you have recovered,

If the other end starts, put a roll of TP in the freezer as after lots of wiping a cold piece of TP can feel very relieving.

Rest up today and watch trashy tv, sleep, let your body recover

twosoups1972 · 29/11/2018 10:51

This thread is fascinating (sorry OP). I feel very sorry for anyone who has noro but can't help feeling a little bit jealous of people who aren't scared of being sick. The fear and anxiety is just awful Sad

HerculesTheBercules · 29/11/2018 11:14

Twosoups, I find you equally fascinating Grin

Have you always felt like this?

Could hypnotherapy help you?

OP posts:
twosoups1972 · 29/11/2018 11:23

Yes, looking back I think I've had the phobia since childhood. I have not actually vomited for over 30 years. I like to tell myself that maybe my body has forgotten how to, but on the other hand I wonder if 'it' will happen some day.

I KNOW that, logically, being sick is unpleasant but it's usually quick and you feel better afterwards. But in my head it's the worst thing ever. I can still remember vividly each of the few occasions I was sick as a child. I worry that if I sick again, I will have yet another horrible memory of it Sad
