I literally feel sick. Ive paid my rent and that’s it. Ive been off sick for four months due to surgery. I returned the 4th October. I got this letter a few weeks ago and joked I hope this doesn’t mean my wages are dropping. My manager said it was a standard letter. Am I wrong or does this mean my mabagement haven’t informed the right people? I’m sorry it’s so late I’ve just checked my bank account. I feel sick.

It's pretty standard to go onto half pay after several months off sick. What were you expecting? When are you due to return to work?

SealSong · 28/11/2018 00:29

What does your sickness policy at work say? Check that out.

JaiNotJay · 28/11/2018 00:31

Oh I'm sorry, I've just read your post properly and realised you are back at work. Yes in that case it will just be a case of the information not reaching the right people. Can you phone and check with HR/payroll yourself?

If you are back at work then you will be back on full pay. Contact your hr or payroll department and check in case they haven’t processed your return to work date. If they have made an error they will be able to rectify it and do a bacs

SealSong · 28/11/2018 00:35

oh sorry I missed you were back also. This is a cock up by your manager who probably has forgotten to inform payroll that you are back at work. Get your manager to contact payroll ASAP, you will be entitled to all your wage.

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 00:41

Yes all my sick notes were up to date and even if I hadn’t gone back it’s back dated not in advance isn’t it? I went back on the 4th of October on phased return which still means you get your hours paid. Ive paid the rent and have about £20 left. I must be a grand down. I actually joked and said make sure you tell payroll I’ve come back!

Ive seen my payslip it says 71 hours when i work 140.

OP posts:
CrispbuttyNo1 · 28/11/2018 01:16

Have you gone back on reduced hours? It may be correct if that is the case.

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 01:28

I did reduced hours for two weeks. Inwas told it was something like 7 hours then the other 5 werecmade up of annual leave. I was assured it made no differece to my pay. Besides tgat they also made me take two weeks annual leave and i get paid for annual leave. Theres no way It can be right. It should say on my pay slip annual leave 72 hours instead it just says i worked 72 hours. Im contracted 145 a month.

If you used annual leave for your phased return, then you definitely should be getting paid for full hours. It sounds like a cock up. Which is pretty common. I previously had them drop my pay to half at 3 months, when I had been working in the NHS for over 15 years and had accumulated 6 months rights. The only notification that they had done so was by an email. To my work email account. Which I couldn't access. Because I was offsick.

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 01:55

Well i got a letter off a goverment office but even so that wouldnt have kicked in. Theyve basically put in that ive worked half my hours. I get paid annual leave after 25 years i would hope so! I camt imagine how its even happened. My payslip says i work 34 hours per week i dont know where theyve pulled 70 odd pay hours from. Do you think they will give me it back tomorrow? My bills come out on the 1st. I cant sleep.

DH had this issue with NHS payroll. Th try to fob you off with a payment that takes 3 days to process but you must stand your ground and ask for a same day payment. They’ll be reluctant because it costs them about £30 to do it but if you get your manager also phoning them to put the pressure on you should be ok.

Also as the 1st is a Saturday would this mean your bills come out on Monday 3rd instead?

nocoolnamesleft · 28/11/2018 02:01

Yes, they can definitely do a same day payment, even though they don't want to. Rumour has it that physically standing there in payroll can be helpful...

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 02:04

At this rate i wont have the bus fair. My friend has just been promoted to do the off duty. Bless her its come from her end it has to.

Barbeito · 28/11/2018 02:05

Yes, DH’s boss allowed him to drive to payroll in work time to sort it out!

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 02:09

I wouldnt even know where it is. Its always changing sites. I was supposed to be ordering the xmas tree today!

Ha, yes. That sounds very NHS! Have you got an approachable manager you can set on it?

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 02:20

Jeez as if it couldnt get worse the poor woman is off sick so everyone is panicking trying to do her work.

OP posts:
EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 02:21

The problem lays with the person who put in half my hours, its simple ive seen my slip online.

OP posts:
Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 28/11/2018 08:13

They haven’t filled in the form to notify payroll you’re back. They can do that today and although the refund will show on your next payslip they can get the money paid as an “advance” by today/ tomorrow. Ring your manager and ask them to sort it this morning. (I used to be an nhs manager)

EachandEveryone · 28/11/2018 08:57

But it says I worked 77 hours so they must’ve informed them of something

If the manager is off sick, escalate up the chain of command to the next manager. Also, contact your union. Do both today.
