Help sea bream stuck down the side of the cooker

I'm a complete tool, I was dishing grilled sea bream this evening and accidentally batted it into a gap between the cooker (it's a range - not integrated) and the kitchen unit. I can't get it all out, I tried to shove the cat in there but she was very uncooperative, and I've also tried to clear it with a knife but some flaked off and I'm worried it's going to stink. Help me, I can't move the cooker as it weighs a tonne.

I'm putting the DC to bed now but look forward to seeing your solutions when I've finished and can tackle it properly.

DH reckons I should use the vacuum cleaner but last time I vacuumed up something smelly, the vacuum cleaner smelt funny every time I turned it on and the whole house stank like old cheese.

Put socks or tights over the vacuum cleaner nozzle.

Or do you have something like a palette knife?

honeysucklejasmine · 27/11/2018 20:11

Is you vacuum hose in several parts? Do the whole "tights over the end" trick but half way down, so fish is sucked up but not in to the vacuum.

LemonySippet · 27/11/2018 20:13

Is there anything electrical down there? Can you wash it/hose it out?

Have you considered a fishing rod?

camelfinger · 27/11/2018 20:13

How big is the gap? What if you put some sellotape on the end of a wire coat hanger and poked it about?

camelfinger · 27/11/2018 20:15

Would a closed umbrella fit in? And then open in whilst in the gap to scrape it out.

hugoagogo · 27/11/2018 20:20

You might need one of these

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 27/11/2018 20:22

You could try shoving the award for Thread Title of the Year into the gap Grin

Micke · 27/11/2018 20:28

Is it stuck half way, or has it made it all the way to the floor?

If it's made it to the floor, could you slide something like a steel ruler, or a long bit of cardboard under it?

Or can you drop something down behind it like a dowl/thin broomstick/kite stick/un-done wire coathanger/feather duster/swiffer handle and kind of scootch it forward?

You'll need something to squeeze down after and clean each side though..

Fingers crossed it'll dry out rather than rot if not - how dry is your house?

Hushnownobodycares · 27/11/2018 20:31

Piece of cardboard?

Have to say you win thread title of the week though if that's any consolation Grin

ShimmeringIce · 27/11/2018 20:33

It’s booble-plate 2018! (Anyone remember the solution?)

AnotherOriginalUsername · 27/11/2018 20:35

This is possibly the most middle class thread I've ever seen.

I once dropped a chicken nugget down the side of my cooker. The dog got its head stuck trying to get it out.

Hassled · 27/11/2018 20:35

Booble plate solution involved a wire coat hanger and possibly the power of magic, I think. Have you tried magic?

HighNoon · 27/11/2018 20:36

I'm sorry for your predicament, but agree with Hushnow - a very funny post!

Marking my plaice to see how this turns out.

Pebblespony · 27/11/2018 20:37

Brush handle with a towel wrapped around it secured by shit loads of tape? Pushes your fishy friend out and wipes the sides too? You might have to stand on a worktop to get the angle right.

readyplayer · 27/11/2018 20:38

This is like the classic dinner plate down the back of the toilet thread Grin

Do you have a ruler you could use to FISH it out?

DramaAlpaca · 27/11/2018 20:40

You need sex lube & a fish slice, of course Wink

Anyone remember that thread? It was very funny.

TheSheepofWallSt · 27/11/2018 20:41

What about cutting it down to ease it out in little pieces with a laser bream?

TarquinGyrfalcon · 27/11/2018 20:41

Problems on this scale are always hard to solve Smile

AdaColeman · 27/11/2018 20:44

You'll soon get a shoal of suggestions, and you can have a whale of a time trying them all.

dingit · 27/11/2018 20:46

Oh for cods sake, stop carping on you lot.

Armi · 27/11/2018 20:47

I have a narrow fuzzy implement on a bendy rod for cleaning behind the radiators (obviously it’s unused as I have more interesting things to do with my time than clean behind radiators). You need one of those. Which doesn’t help, as you presumably don’t have one.

Lakeland might sell them. Am not sure if they deliver in the middle of the night, mind.

NoMoreMarathons · 27/11/2018 20:48

Your DH is present.... he can help pull the oven out?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 27/11/2018 20:49

Couldn’t agree more @UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername
