Help sea bream stuck down the side of the cooker

I'm a complete tool, I was dishing grilled sea bream this evening and accidentally batted it into a gap between the cooker (it's a range - not integrated) and the kitchen unit. I can't get it all out, I tried to shove the cat in there but she was very uncooperative, and I've also tried to clear it with a knife but some flaked off and I'm worried it's going to stink. Help me, I can't move the cooker as it weighs a tonne.

I'm putting the DC to bed now but look forward to seeing your solutions when I've finished and can tackle it properly.

DH reckons I should use the vacuum cleaner but last time I vacuumed up something smelly, the vacuum cleaner smelt funny every time I turned it on and the whole house stank like old cheese.

Yes, you can pull the range out! Just put some cardboard down in front of the legs or rollers so it doesn’t scrape the floor tiles.

But in any case, cooked fish will just dry out next to a warm oven so it really won’t smell.

But I agree - title is FABULOUS Grin

If you are floundering for ideas remember any fin is possible.

My DH has a bad back so he is useless. Sad

I've got a metal ruler and wrapped it in a muslin with dettol spray on it and given it a wriggle around, it looks ok but I'm really worried it will stink.

DH thinks it needs to dry out so it's a bit easier to scrape and then to do the vacuum cleaner and tights thing - vacuum cleaner is has a detachable hose. Thanks for your tips.

I'm more concerned about who's not had their dinner tonight...

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 27/11/2018 21:21

it's been a right day here too... I dropped the lid to the coffee maker down the back of the range

I doubt I'll ever see that again!

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 27/11/2018 21:22

AdaColeman · 27/11/2018 21:29

" My husband has a bad back so he is useless"

Don't carp on about him love! Better to put your heart and sole into doing it yourself.

EmbraRocks · 27/11/2018 21:31

Damn! Too late for lube and fish slice advice!

DramaAlpaca · 27/11/2018 21:33

I typed it really fast hoping nobody else had got there before me Grin

VincentVanGoughandhisear · 27/11/2018 21:33

I have a haddock just thinking about how you're going to get it out!

Helpmemyhairisterrible · 27/11/2018 21:34

Oh! I remember sex lube and a fish slice! Made smoked cod and pasta on Saturday. House still reeks. Nominating OP for thread of the week though!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 27/11/2018 21:35

You've got some good ideas pooled here, Op, glad you weren't trawling for advice without netting a result.

Thisnamechanger · 27/11/2018 21:36

CrispbuttyNo1 · 27/11/2018 21:50

How big is the gap / small is the cat?!

I love the fact you've mentioned the specific type of fish in your thread title.

Best of luck, OP.

pastabest · 27/11/2018 21:52

I was willing someone else to have already said it so I didn't look like a knob when I arrived to announce...

sex lube and a fish slice Grin

crikey I wonder how long ago that was now?

purplecorkheart · 27/11/2018 21:55

Tongs or tweezers of the tail is easy to reach?

MustDust · 27/11/2018 21:58

You need to aquire a smaller cat.

Datedandold · 27/11/2018 22:00

Do you not have a Spaniel? Preferably a Springer.

IronManSucks · 27/11/2018 22:04

How big was the one that got away?

SylvesterTheCat · 27/11/2018 22:28

Spray a jet hose in the direction from back of the units to the front to wash the fish neatly into the middle of the floor. Then your cat can have a feast.

Poor fish. It must be pretty stressed by now.
