Asda? Sainsbury’s?

Goodfellas takeaway is the favourite in our house, I usually add a few toppings though.

Perfectpeony · 26/11/2018 22:05

Just to add. If you are pizza obsessed (like we are in our house Grin ) get an Unni pizza oven. Restaurant quality pizza in seconds. Plus it’s small and reasonably priced too! Perfect your dough recipe, pizza sauce and add fresh mozerella/ basil. You’ll never want to eat out again.

I order one from a local Italian restaurant and pick it up, a couple of quid more than a supermarket one but extremely good.

I don’t mind the current Waitrose Gorgonzola and Parma ham one or the one with black dough - both the posh range.

I am reading all these answers for the words ‘very thin’, I don’t like many pizzas, too much dough for me. I make my own from scratch but they end up costing more than the Waitrose ones once you use nice ingredients.

anniehm · 26/11/2018 22:44

Aldi is fine but the best option is to make your own, really easy, but does take circa 3 hours to make base if proper yeast one. Trick is roll very thin, preheat tray very hot

AnyFucker · 26/11/2018 22:47

Aldi
Co op

HippoLatte · 27/11/2018 00:21

Asda American Sizzler is THEEEEEE best pizza I've had in ages. Almost beats take away pizza which is a huge statement from me.

SimplySteve · 27/11/2018 00:32

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference or counter. This threads making me hungry!

SpamChaudFroid · 27/11/2018 03:15

The nicest shop bought pizza I think is the Crosta & Mollica bases from Waitrose. They're practically as thin as a blue Rizla paper! They come with tomato sauce already on them but I like to add a bit extra, then mozzerella, goats cheese, (or Burrata if I can get it) and Chorizo. Maybe a drizzle of truffle oil if I'm feeling fancy, then cooked on the oven's pizza setting.

I dislike American style pizzas, (too much doughy base and plastick-ey cheese) and for some reason Dominos tend to give me the shits.

I fucking love pizza.

hellokittymania · 27/11/2018 04:04

Visually impaired, so maybe I am missing something, but is the counter at Astor like a meat counter? Like the one in Finsbury is where you can buy ready to eat southern fried chicken, etc.? I will ask someone in the shop next time I'm at Asda because I have never noticed a counter.

randomsabreuse · 27/11/2018 05:10

Aldi specially selected are better than pizza out, let alone takeaway!

SimplySteve · 27/11/2018 05:31

Thanks Spam, I now want pizza at 5:30 in the morning...

Cuzcothellama · 27/11/2018 06:19

The Co Op posh ones are very nice. In fact the posh ones from any shop are all very nice. I much prefer them to takeaway pizza.

SpamChaudFroid · 27/11/2018 11:33

Grin Simply I was saddened I didn't have one in the house after writing that!

BigManBen · 27/11/2018 11:44

Every time

BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/11/2018 11:47

Costa mollica bases from Waitrose, add your own toppings .... lush

dementedpixie · 27/11/2018 12:28

hellokittymania, yes it's like a meat counter thing but not all Asda's have them. You choose a base, BBQ or tomato sauce and then you can choose 4 toppings and a flavoured oil if you want. They make it up for you as you wait. The 4 of us all have different toppings so it works out well as we can all get what we want

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 27/11/2018 12:30

The Aldi sourdough oval shaped ones are lovely.

OldBrownShoe · 27/11/2018 12:33

Co-Op do a really nice one with salami and fig.

Or pizza express sloppy Giuseppe

BertrandRussell · 27/11/2018 12:39

Sooo easy to make-honest! And you can freeze home made dough. Happy to provide a recipe.

Cocobana · 27/11/2018 13:27

@BertrandRussell i’d love the recipe if you’d be so kind, I haven’t made my own pizza dough for so long I can’t remember and I don’t want to chance a random recipe off google as nice to have a tried and trusted one...😃

listsandbudgets · 27/11/2018 13:29

I'm a cheapskate - I think the Lidl stonebaked ones are gorgeous

Titsywoo · 27/11/2018 13:34

Definitely the crosta and mollica bases from Waitrose.

user1457017537 · 27/11/2018 13:38

I buy a posh one or Pizza Express and add more olives, salami, cheese, roasted tomatoes and artichoke, depending on what’s in the fridge.

Loopylou6 · 27/11/2018 13:41

French baguette, slice open, spread on loads of Tom puree, mozzarella cheese, chopped ham, throw in oven till cheese melts. Yum.
