This corner was covered two months ago. It was scrubbed, bleached, anti mold paint and then the whole wall repainted.

Now it’s fucking back Angry. How do you get rid for good?!!

I bought this for bathroom mould and it was amazing (if smelly.) I bought it on an MN recommendation.

JennyHolzersGhost · 24/11/2018 23:22

Keep bleaching. Once a week wipe down for starters.

dementedpixie · 24/11/2018 23:22

It depends what's causing it. If you don't remove the source then it will keep returning.

dementedpixie · 24/11/2018 23:23

Is it an exterior wall?

Spiderin · 24/11/2018 23:23

It’s just that one corner of the bedroom. All the others are fine.

Can that spray be used on paintwork?

Yes exterior wall, corner of the house.

Very old rented farmhouse

Is it an exterior wall? Are there gutters/ pipes on the outside that could be leaking

I think you have to treat the underlying problem. (What's that sticking out of the wall?)

Maybe get a good dehumidifier too. (Not an expert but hopefully someone who knows more will be along.)

Hoosh · 24/11/2018 23:29

The HG mold spray is brilliant. You see the mold just vanish before your eyes. Very very smelly though & you need to be really careful not to splash it on yourself or clothes etc.

I use it on paintwork and it's fine. Having said that I'm in a rented house with every wall coated in industrial-grade magnolia, so if you've got lovely paint you'd be wise to do a patch test first.

Cuppateeee · 24/11/2018 23:29

Try getting a dehumidifier, it may be caused by dampness in the air. I’ve had this problem in the downstairs shower room (no window) so just keep wiping weekly with mould and mildew remover.

SandAndSea · 24/11/2018 23:31

Could you tell your landlord? It's in their interests to get it properly treated.

Imissgmichael · 24/11/2018 23:31

It’s probably condensation.

SpoonBlender · 24/11/2018 23:46

Sort the source of the damp wall - as PPs, check guttering, pointing, roofing etc on the other side of that corner. Get that sealed up, and the mold will be tameable, otherwise it'll just keep returning no matter how much bleach or HG you throw at it.

The HG stuff is excellent, btw.

Tartpop · 25/11/2018 00:02

Do you keep your bathroom window open all the time, and heat it well?

Spiderin · 25/11/2018 10:48

Condensation yes! BUT the house is bloody freezing and we only have single glazed original windows which let in the cold, so every October I put that plastic insulation stuff up on them. However the house isn’t “sealed” fireplace in my bedroom let’s in a load of cold air especially if it’s windy.

Those two things sticking out are from the old TV aeriel I believe, they’ve been there since before I moved in.

I’ve ordered some of that stuff, thanks for the recommendation.

I think it’s more than likely an exterior wall problem as that is the only place upstairs where it grows. Downstairs is a different story!

This is amazing, we were about to rip out our bathroom as nothing we did worked, this us £1.99 and it all was gone in 5 minutes. It’s a life saver!

Magstermay · 25/11/2018 17:44

We ended up with black mould in similar circumstances and got an electric dehumidifier which worked wonders. Made the house feel warmer too as less damp.

JennyHolzersGhost · 25/11/2018 17:54

I suspect it’s a leak on the wall outside, combined with that spot being cold and some internal dampness in the air. Corner outside wall probably means it’s the guttering/downpipe.
A combination of a dehumidifier and bleach spray inside will keep it under control but fundamentally you need to get the landlord to sort the leak as it could be damaging his brickwork.

redsummershoes · 25/11/2018 17:59

heating the regular ventilation or using a dehumidifier.
don't place furniture close tothe wall in that corner.
let your ll know, they might need to have a look if the cause is outside (broken render, broken pipes, overflowing gutter...)

AnOrgyofBarminess · 25/11/2018 18:07

I'd speak to your landlord firstly because it could be a structural issue which they need to know about.

If you're regularly having to redecorate keep a log and photos of any work you do as it's a rental.

I use internal dehumidifiers in damp corners of my house which you can see filling up we did have a plug in dehumidifier but it's sent our electric bill sky high so I won't run one.

If you have vents on your windows have them open all year round you need air to circulate to prevent condensation so be careful of drying clothes inside without proper ventilation.

ednakenneth · 25/11/2018 18:22

I think you need to find the source. That kept happening to us. We kept painting after using anti mould spray, we then realised the reason why it kept returning was because of the humidity in the room. Get a dehumidifier then you'll get rid of the mould. Too much moisture in the air which needs to be eliminated. The mould will ruin your furniture. Good luck
