Seriously, when? 2 and a 6 year old and they are my constant audience...

Never. Nearly 10 yo still sees nothing wrong with barging in to ask if he can play Xbox now please?

legolimb · 22/11/2018 19:46

Put a tv show on for them.

Go to the bathroom. Lock the door.

Do what you need to do.

Izzadoraduncancan · 22/11/2018 20:24

It's been 21 years so far 🙄... though there is 6 of them 😳

Gingaaarghpussy · 22/11/2018 20:30

When the cat goes to bed Grin

Athena51 · 22/11/2018 20:37

My DS is grown up but I still can't go to the loo in peace as my cat likes to accompany me everywhere Smile

When do I get to go to the toilet in peace?!
Pebblespony · 22/11/2018 20:39

Surely they'll go to university at some stage.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/11/2018 20:41

Whenever you like if you say no.
I'm honestly not trying to be a twat but why do you allow it if you don't like it?

My Dd knew always that the bathroom when I was in it was a no go area.

BishopBrennansArse · 22/11/2018 20:41

Never.
Almost 15 year old, 13 and 10 here.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/11/2018 20:42

Although I have 4 cats and they come in, but they're cats, they can do anything!

Odiepants · 22/11/2018 20:44

8 yr old DS rarely insists on barging in anymore but 2 out of 3 cats like to sit and watch. If I shut them out, they bang on the door!

needtoshutupandlisten · 22/11/2018 20:50

Get a lock and put it at the top of the door so they can't use it.

Otherwise who knows?

6onTheHappyFarm · 22/11/2018 20:54

DS nearly 10 just came in there now mid-wee. I have tried to explain to him that I like to go in peace, and I did say "DS I'm doing a wee!", but it was a very, very urgent, absolutely essential that he ask me right that millisecond question (it always is).

In a way I think the innocence is nice.

SilverySurfer · 22/11/2018 20:57

No children so I don't understand why this has become a thing. I survived childhood without once walking in on/demanding attention from either of my parents while they were in the bathroom.

Lock the door - it's not rocket science.

Loyaultemelie · 22/11/2018 20:59

Hah I have no idea I have an 8 year old, a 3 year old and on the rare occasions they are in school and nursery then there are the two cats(three until very recently) to tag team and make sure I still can't pee alone. When they are all here it can get ridiculous

LuckyAmy1986 · 22/11/2018 21:07

We don't have a lock on the door unfortunately. They seem to want cuddles every time I go to the toilet?!

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 22/11/2018 21:39

It doesn't stop.

4 boys. Oldest 17, youngest 8. Even if they don't try coming into the bathroom there is still generally someone calling on me to ask something (Mum, what can I have to eat?). Even when the boys don't call on me dh probably will. He now gets told to leave me alone for a few minutes, as well as the 2 teenagers, but it's still not the same as having a few minutes uninterrupted peace and quiet.

Justlikedevon · 22/11/2018 21:52

As above. If the teenager doesn't desperately need the toilet/an answer/To show me something, the bloody ancient cat objects to the closed door and scratches till I let her in. They are both dismissive of me until I close a door on either of them.

Boyskeepswinging · 22/11/2018 21:58

Two things I enjoyed most about going back to work: being able to use the toilet uninterrupted and being able to eat my lunch in peace.

FermatsTheorem · 22/11/2018 22:00

One of my friends (she has 3 kids) said "I only went back to work so I could go to the loo in peace."

That cat is definitely my cat. Morning trip to the loo involves the arrival of the cat, who demands attention (she does this incredibly cute thing of getting up on her hind legs and head-butting my hand until I stroke her). DS also comes barging in to ask random things.

MrsTommyBanks · 22/11/2018 22:01

When they leave home

SingingSands · 22/11/2018 22:01

14 and 10 here. Still wait until I go to ask those burning questions, or stand at the door telling me about the minute details of their latest Fortnite win.
If I actually try to engage in a conversation at a more appropriate time and location I get the “grunts” 😄

rslsys · 22/11/2018 22:10

If you do fit a lock, make sure it’s one you can open from the outside when your DC lock themselves in . . .

mumsastudent · 22/11/2018 22:15

when they leave & even then they choose their time to ring you! (or ring when your mid shower with soapy hair!)

Lunalula · 22/11/2018 22:15

My only time in the bathroom alone is when dd 11m is asleep and ds 3y is on tablet Grin

Snowwontbelong · 22/11/2018 22:18

I cant have a wee without 2 x ddogs sitting in supervising.....
