New Year's Day
Especially now I have kids
But NYE is shite so never would have been bothered before

ohdearmymistake · 17/11/2018 17:11

New Years day, once the clock has ticked over midnight that's all done and finished for me, usually go to bed before midnight.

Sloegin2 · 17/11/2018 17:33

New Year’s Day!

I’m lucky enough to have Christmas Day/Boxing Day off this year - I’m working a long day New Year’s Day (midwife). I’d prefer this over Boxing Day given a choice xx

IronManSucks · 17/11/2018 18:03

Boxing Day. 02 January is a bank holiday here.

bimbobaggins · 17/11/2018 18:06

Nyd, and i am working this nyd. I hate New Years

AornisHades · 17/11/2018 18:11

NYD. When I was on call I was happy to do NYE on call too.

blueskiesandforests · 17/11/2018 18:16

I wonder - is everyone saying they'd work new year happily in the UK?

Not one of my colleagues wanted to work New year's Day despite bank holiday pay. 3 volunteered to do Christmas for the same pay as new years day and did a polite shuffle around allowing each other to "take" it, and parcelled the shifts up between them! We're in a very Christian region so it isn't that Christmas isnt celebrated.

SpottingTheZebras · 17/11/2018 18:38

I’m in the U.K. blueskiesandforests but I also rarely drink and have a young family, so New Year’s Eve is often a normal night for me anyway. However, Boxing Day is part of my family festive celebrations and can involve travel to see people who live further away.

New Year’s Day

ScreamingValenta · 17/11/2018 18:40

Boxing Day, because I'd still have the New Year day off to look forward to.

GreyGardens88 · 17/11/2018 18:42

I'm normally sick of alcohol by new years eve, last year I think I only had 1 drink and barely made it to midnight, so new years day would make sense for me. I've never been big on new years parties, I'd rather stay in and reflect on my year, think about the goals I want to achieve the following year and watch the fireworks on the box

EggysMom · 17/11/2018 18:44

I'm in the UK and would rather work New Year's Day. It means very little to me, I barely drink so won't have a hangover.

Bagadverts · 17/11/2018 18:47

New Years Day

cptartapp · 17/11/2018 19:23

Have worked both. In my twenties worked Xmas and Boxing Day regularly. Now with DC I would choose to work NYD. No contest.

KitKat1985 · 17/11/2018 19:23

New Years day everytime.

daisypond · 17/11/2018 20:23

New Year's Day. But I'm rostered to work Christmas Day this year, sadly. It's just part of the rota, we don't get any extra pay for it.

WinterBerry7 · 17/11/2018 20:25

New Years. I used to work in retail and this was my option every time. I hate working Boxing Day.

GlitterPixie · 17/11/2018 20:26

New Year’s Day

BitchQueen90 · 17/11/2018 20:56

I'm in the UK @blueskiesandforests do your colleagues have DC/young families? I used to work in hospitality and it was often younger employees without children who preferred to work over Christmas and then have new year's off to go out.

I'm a single mum so I usually spend NYE on my own after DS has gone to bed!

Troels · 17/11/2018 21:03

New years day.

CrookedMe · 17/11/2018 21:05

New Year's Day.

I'm Scottish but I fucking hate NYE. What a long and boring day it is, especially when you have young children.
