Anyone else find sleep after a drink?

I'm not a big drinker but I do enjoy a few at weekends and on the odd night out.
I've found as I've got older i don't sleep as well but more recently I can barely sleep at all.
Last night I had half A bottle of red and was awake from 3 am, I feel shattered.
I've had similar with gin too.
It sounds silly but I dont really want to give it up particularly for things like holidays and Christmas but I think I may have to 😰
Does anyone else find this?

I’m only 35 and as far as I know I’m not menopausal!

I’m giving up drinking in January until April (that’s the plan anyway) as I’m training for a half marathon, and I’m actually really looking forward to it. I did three weeks in September and I felt so much more rested. Better quality sleep, more deep sleep, fewer wake ups and Also I ate better and exercised more because I didn’t feel so rough.

After the menopause you say? What about if you are on HRT 😳

I'm literally gagging for a nice g and t when I get in tonight but alas I shall not be partaking after last night.

Interesting the poster who mentioned allergies as the other symptoms I have with alcohol is sadly very bad wind 😵

Absolutely- I've found since I've had my second my drinking has been cut down drastically. I simply don't have the energy to run around after the kids after I've had a drink. Even a couple of drinks seems to keep me awake half the night. I find falling asleep fine but then seem to wake up at 3am. Not worth it!

I'm 39 and wondered what I'm earth was happening, especially when I fall asleep almost straight away after booze, but the wake up about 3-4am all wired, which doesn't bode well for the next day with loud children!
I love my sleep too, finally getting a bit more now the kids are a bit older.
