How do you get your quilt inside the cover?

I love fresh bed clothes.
The smell, the texture, literally everything about them.

I don't mind stripping the bed or washing the linen or drying it.

I am more than capable of putting the sheet on and the pillow cases, but the duvet cover...

The BASTARD duvet cover.

It ends up lumpy, one corner won't go in properly, one side is too bunched up.

I shake and shake the cover but it just doesn't want to co-operate.

I've spent many a night fighting with the fucking thing (and LOSING!)
Currently, I turn the duvet cover inside out grabbing the corners, I pick up the quilt and flip it the right way and then shake.

Are there any other ways of doing it? Am I missing a trick somewhere?

I turn it inside out, grab the corners and pull down until the other corners are in the right place, then shake. Never have a problem with it.

VioletBow · 16/11/2018 17:47

I turn my duvet cover inside out then line the top up with the top of the duvet and use safety pins to keep corners together and sometimes one in the middle as well then hold each corner and shake

isseywithcats · 16/11/2018 17:48

i lay the duvet flat on the bed then get the top two corners of the cover in place and then wriggle the duvet cover down the bed over the duvet so by the time i get to the bottom most of it is in place on the bed, do up the buttons or poppers at the bottom and it dosent take much top get it smooth and in the right place but yes i hate doing it as ours is king size its a heavy beats to manouvre

I keep the cover right side out then put the top two corners of the Duvet into the top corners of the sheet, then the bottom two, then hold the top corners on the outside so the quilt doesn't creep out of place and shake it.

MaddieElla · 16/11/2018 17:50

I do the same as you but it gives me a stress headache every time. And I have to stand on the bed because it’s a super king —stealth boast—

MaddieElla · 16/11/2018 17:50

Fuck sake Blush

NonaGrey · 16/11/2018 17:52

Google the burrito method - it’s life changing.

WhoTookTheCookie · 16/11/2018 17:53

So, you all manage to do it the same way.
Without any problems.
Sad

Is there a company I can hire to come and make my bed?
If not, does anyone want to set one up?

Yup the roll up method is a secret winner for me

WhoTookTheCookie · 16/11/2018 17:56

Ooooo @NonaGrey thank you!!

I'm excited Grin

@yoohooitsme it looks so easy...

What's the catch? Blush

Who I first saw it in here and thought “surely that will never work?”.

It’s blooming revolutionary for king sized duvets.

simbobs · 16/11/2018 18:11

I have a superking and never have any problems provided that I count the lofts (you know, the square stitched compartments) to make sure I am putting it in the right way. Might this be your problem? Not all duvets are square.

FrangipaniBlue · 16/11/2018 18:25

I was coming on to post that video too!!

I have a super king size 13tog duvet and it's a workout in itself. Once I learned the roll/burrito method though OMG!!!

Works every time Grin

EyeDrops · 16/11/2018 18:25

I desperately want to change my bedding now so I can try that burrito trick! Genius!

WhoTookTheCookie · 16/11/2018 18:28

@NonaGrey mines a king size, feather duvet. Weighs an absolute load and I'm only 5ft.

When I say I fight with it, I'm not joking.
Plus my arthritic joints hate me too.

Conspiracy I tell you.

OP posts:
WhoTookTheCookie · 16/11/2018 18:29

Okay my bedding is in the tumble dryer, nearly finished.

Wish me luck!

OP posts:
naicepineapple · 16/11/2018 18:43

The fact it's feather probably means it gets more bumphled (made up word).
I hate feather bedding, makes me sneeze and feels jaggy

Caspiana · 16/11/2018 18:58

I hate it too!

But I lay the duvet cover flat on the bed. I hold the top two corners of the duvet one in each hand and just dive in, placing one hand in each far corner of the duvet cover.

Going to check out the burrito method!

kitkatsky · 16/11/2018 18:58

The burrito method is seriously amazing! It has changed my life, genuinely!

yoohooitsme · 16/11/2018 19:02

No catch Trust The Method 👍🏻

WhoTookTheCookie · 16/11/2018 19:09

I'm really excited to try the burrito method now

It's a wild Friday night in the WhoTook household.

Stephisaur · 16/11/2018 20:02

I tried to show my husband my method today but was being “patronising” apparently so I’ll tell you!

I lay the duvet on the bed. I then lay the duvet cover on top (to make sure duvet is the right way round) and then push it up a bit.

I then grab a top corner of the duvet and find the corresponding corner of the cover. Repeat with the other top corner, then each of the bottom corners. Shake from the bottom and then from the side.

Takes me about 5 minutes.
