I'd love to be a forensic anthropologist. Didn't do well enough in school though Sad if I was smart enough it'd be the best job ever!

Lawyer. (Currently studying for it) :)

Or in a fantasy land an FBI agent lol

Ariela · 17/11/2018 01:03

I hated History at school (back then it was Tudors, Civil War, that kind of thing. WW1 was too recent as was WW2). I also got dragged round stately homes as a child.
I'd love to be an archaeologist. Found the Time Team programmes absolutely fascinating. I also have to be dragged out of stately homes nowadays because I'm still reading the information panels on display.

Industrial equipment reliability engineer! Lots of fun problem-solving and analysis, but also a great human component in terms of getting operators and maintenance techs to treat the equipment better.

A bit of a random one, I know!

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 17/11/2018 01:13

Goodluck graphista. Id stupidly assumed you were on a laptop accessing mumnset - not sure why given I'm on my phone at the moment!!

I hope its something that can work for you. With my health the variable hours and ability to do it from home really appealed. I was just to scared to put myself out there!

Graphista · 17/11/2018 02:04

Thanks. I hope so too.

My health has big ups and downs and on an up I can get overly optimistic. Last year this happened and I was applying for numerous jobs and looking into various possibilities.

Given my bouts of agoraphobia, screwed up body clock (which weirdly could be advantageous given time differences!), variable physical health concerns this seemed a perfect idea.

I already have a degree in English, have a clear speaking voice, good presentation skills, can get by in 5 other languages (though could probably do with brushing up on them) and from other roles I've developed the skills of breaking ideas down into simple terms.

The one stumbling block is ability to acquire the right equipment. Can't be just any desktop computer either the various companies have certain spec requirements (which frankly confuse the hell outta me!) but I'd figure that out if I were able to move forward.

I'm hoping as I say that once waters are calmer I can figure it out.

Maybe clinical psychologist or child psychologist.

Or marine biologist.

Or botanist.

Or chef.

Alliwantisthisorthat · 17/11/2018 03:13

I would love to be a vet.

Rainbowqueeen · 17/11/2018 03:23

Movie producer - Hollywood blockbuster one year. Independent Indi film the next!

EnormousDormouse · 17/11/2018 03:32

Joined the Navy and specialised in something technical.
Or mining engineering/engineering- we used to gently take the piss at college about them digging holes, but I now work in a place where oil & gas is huge business and it is fascinating AND very lucrative.
Basically, I wish I hadn't fannied around doing something that interested me at uni first time (Eng Lit) and had gone for something that had a easy route to a good salary.

DoctorTwo · 17/11/2018 04:07

Drummer with AC/DC. OK, I'd be open to RSI but at least I'd have a pension. And a passport full of stamps.

ItsalmostSummer · 17/11/2018 04:33

I’d really like to be a surgeon in particular one who does gastric sleeves, like Dr Nowzaradan. I have seen a couple of tv shows and like the surgery they do and then the seeing people’s loves changed. That would be great.

treaclesoda · 17/11/2018 04:56

Architect or town planner or something of that type. Someone who designs things that work to improve the look of the place, and hopefully have a knock on effect on people's quality of life.

FixItUpChappie · 17/11/2018 05:02

I would play violin or cello in a major orchestra.

Partridgeamongstthepigeons · 17/11/2018 05:51

Agree Fixitup... oboe for me though Smile

RolandDeschainsGilly · 17/11/2018 06:15

Gonna be a bit of a "well actually" person here, but there isn't a job called "child psychologist," so go ahead and call yourself one as it's not a protected title - should be though.

topcat2014 · 17/11/2018 08:26

How does forensics link with psychologist?

Forensics is about the dead, and pyschology about the living - not seeing the link.

Love these type of threads..

TheFatberg · 17/11/2018 08:38

A forensic psychologist works with offenders topcat2014 - forensic is anything to do with the criminal courts.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 17/11/2018 08:43

Barrister, after a couple of years a Judge.

Flower777 · 17/11/2018 18:32

I used to be a town planner. It’s very frustrating. The government piles on pressure from the top,the community are never happy at the bottom, it’s a fuck ton of beaucracy and you never actually design pretty places. Sadly I knew 2 town planners who killed themselves.

SkiMum99 · 17/11/2018 18:38

Bookshop/ sewing hub cafe Smile owner

Hefzi · 17/11/2018 18:49

My first job is one that's been mentioned in a lot on this thread - it's not at all like the books or television portray Grin

SneakyGremlins · 17/11/2018 18:49

Is it something forensic? Grin
