I'd love to be a forensic anthropologist. Didn't do well enough in school though Sad if I was smart enough it'd be the best job ever!

OP posts:
ThatOneHurt · 16/11/2018 22:46

Health Visitor.

coldlocation · 16/11/2018 22:49

I was a, lawyer.... Why would anyone choose that?

I'd be a doctor or a hotel inspector

RebelWitchFace · 16/11/2018 23:15

Child therapist.

BonnesVacances · 16/11/2018 23:18

I'd love to be a pilot, but it'd take me away from DC.
So I'd be a child psychologist.

CartwheelCath · 16/11/2018 23:24

I would present my own TV Travel programme......and this week Catwheel Cath is in The Maldives/New York/Singapore/Peru.etc etc
A bit like Joanna Lumleys Greece or Silk Road Trail but worldwide.

StormcloakNord · 16/11/2018 23:24

I'm currently working towards a forensic and analytical science degree. Total career change after 7 yrs being in accounts.

Dream job would be an APT but will see where this degree takes me!

thismeansnothing · 16/11/2018 23:25

F1 mechanic/engineer

JaiNotJay · 16/11/2018 23:29

Literary translator or ceramic artist.

stayathomer · 16/11/2018 23:30

Ileclerc me too!! I wish Id even gone into veterinary nursing or something but didn't do it cos of money. Did a science degree, now a stay at home mum, have no money now so should have just done something that made me happy!!!!

stayathomer · 16/11/2018 23:30

StormcloakNord Go you!!!!

watchmefly · 16/11/2018 23:39

Painting conservator. Perfect balance between art and science.

pastabest · 16/11/2018 23:45

A mechanic or an electrician.

It does make me a bit sad that as a girl these options were basically closed to me when leaving school.

I'm now reasonably well paid in a very 'womanly' profession. But I could be getting paid more with less stress in one of the manly jobs above.

SuperStellaElla · 16/11/2018 23:48

Barrister

meow1989 · 16/11/2018 23:53

A marine biologist or zoologist.

Otherwise something practical like a carpenter or builder!

meow1989 · 16/11/2018 23:54

Oh, or a police officer in the dog unit

Graphista · 17/11/2018 00:08

Less a qualification issue for me than health and money for equipment and the right connections. Also there's a few things:

Scriptwriter
Virtual tefl teacher
Magazine columnist.
Academic librarian (qualifications an issue here as they are highly trained & qualified people, but the agoraphobia also buggers it)

If there were a paid role of "permanent student" that would be perfect!

"I suppose I don't need any particular qualifications to be an author, but I do lack the requisite kick up the bum to get on and do anything about it." same - had a few short stories published, got 3 half finished books lying in a virtual drawer. Been "working on them" for years but insecurity and difficulty with motivation...

MotherOfATeenApprenticeActuary · 17/11/2018 00:18

Radiographer.

Oh wait, I am a qualified radiographer but my stupid body has decided that it's rescinding the qualification and making me a cripple instead. Please may I request a new body instead of occupation?

Ironic that my stupid bones make me unable to image other peoples stupid bones. If anyone can suggest a new occupation that I would love as much I'm interested.

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 17/11/2018 00:26

Graphista Im an ex teacher and there's tons of hourly paid online tefl teaching out there - there's so many different groups and a facebook group. Have you seen them? I toyed with the idea. You just need a computer and headset, they provide the materials!

Id love to be a student again. I love studying. The psyc phd would be my dream but would mean uprooting family too much :(

evilharpy · 17/11/2018 00:32

Actuary maybe. Or something physics-related along the lines of Brian Cox but without having to be famous/on telly.

BonnieF · 17/11/2018 00:32

Sports journalist /commentator, ideally on cricket. Basically I want Jonathan Agnew’s job.

TheQueenSnortsAvocados · 17/11/2018 00:34

TV doctor. Not a real doc, or an actor, but the sort of doctor that has one or two cases a shift, prances around in vertiginous heels, never gets bunions or greasy hair, has sex in the workplace (and is NEVER disciplined for this), and who makes Chief of Surgery by 35. All whilst raising two or three beautiful, and often invisible, children.

Graphista · 17/11/2018 00:38

"You just need a computer and headset, they provide the materials!" Yes I know but as I'm sick/disabled and currently on benefits I'm struggling to get the money to buy these. Many grants which were previously available to people in my position have gone due to austerity/cuts.

I'm hoping to maybe post-brexit/migration to UC (both of which I'm bloody dreading!) I MAY either be able to save towards this or access a grant or something once things are more stable politically/financially. But at the moment I'm just trying to keep us on an even keel. As are many in my position.

LuckyDiamond · 17/11/2018 00:45

No qualifications needed but star quality and talent

I’d be a massive pop star, one who could fill arenas...one who could sing, play at least a guitar and write my own songs/tunes that become anthems and are sung back at me by my thousands of fans.

Obviously I’d have the figure and dance moves going on too.

BigGlasses · 17/11/2018 00:50

I actually did a forensic science (chemistry) degree. Was interesting, but to be honest a lot of the time you know nothing about any of the cases as you have to be impartial and unbiased and the best way to do that is not know ny background. Am in science still but not forensics.

Would like to be town planner. Love mps, house floor plans nd the rubbish thought out streetout or massively out of keeping rchitecture.
