Are there any truly family friendly TV series?

I sat down to watch the Durrells with DD's age 7&6....it was rated 7+ on Netflix.

We are really honest about sex, babies etc so I don't think I'm a prude(?) BUT I just don't think it was appropriate?

Lines like "we think the sex will calm you down" - how do I explain that to a 7yr old?!

SO

Can you recommend any good family watching that all of us will enjoy? From DH 44 to DD 6 (who enjoys things like my fair lady so it doesn't need to be modern). Dr Who would be too scary!

Once upon a time !!

DD10 loves cooking shows and interior design programmes.
The Good Place is a current fave. Kids will love Jason n brings up some interesting questions about what it means to be 'good'.
Fresh Prince.
And you can't get better, sweeter or funnier than the Middle.

MustardPowder · 15/11/2018 22:29

Doc Martin?
Wild at heart?

(Slightly embarrassed that say that mine found One Foot in the Grave and Keeping Up Appearances really really funny.)

greendale17 · 15/11/2018 22:34

The middle

Runnynosehunny · 15/11/2018 22:36

Dd has been watching Full House on Netflix, then the modern version Fuller House.

JaimeLannister · 15/11/2018 22:36

Just Add Magic on Amazon Prime is a great show.

And to echo some other suggestions of Full House, The Goldbergs, Young Sheldon and The Middle.

Loyaultemelie · 15/11/2018 22:38

Another vote for horrible histories we all love it (including the cat for some odd reason)
My 8 year old also loves Live/Eat Well for Less Needausernamegenerator
For some odd reason both dds really like Ninja Warrior and that creepy game show that was on itv Big Heads, they also like DIY SOS however so I may just have weird children (and cats)

Runnynosehunny · 15/11/2018 22:40

Also after watching Full House with the DC adults must then watch Bojack Horseman, it's animated but not for kids! A really dark comedy about a washed up 90s TV star.

MrsFuckwitthefirst · 15/11/2018 23:24

THe Goldberg's.
It's about family life set in the 80's.

ineedaholidaynow · 15/11/2018 23:31

The Wonder Years

Camomila · 18/11/2018 17:47

DS is 2.5 we watch strictly, animal documentaries, cookery shows, and he likes watching bargain hunt type shows with my dad. Dads had to stop watching WW1 documentaries with him in the room though as he was paying attention!

StressedToTheMaxx · 18/11/2018 17:51
