If you go to church/mosque/gurdwara....

Or any other place of worship, does the service include a prayer for the Royal Family?

Just back from syngagogue and every time we say a prayer for the RF I think how sweetly old fashioned it is. And how lovely in a way to include it when the RF are the heads of another religion, and also how it shows a reflection of when Jews came here.... how they wanted to respect the country they were in.

Just wondering whether other religions do this?

I wonder if any Ministers mention them in prayers of intercession.

At my RC school at any 'event' we had to sing the school song, the national anthem and 'Faith of out fathers' which always seemed...

Well the lyrics are interesting, here's one verse

Faith of our Fathers! Mary's prayers
Shall win our country back to thee:
And through the truth that comes from God
England shall then indeed be free

Catholic. I go to mass at least once a week, the only time there's a prayer for the royals is at the remembrance sunday mass.

Is anyone else wondering about those that have replied? The occasional Jew and various denominations of Christianity. I expected MN to be more diverse. Or is it just those replying to this thread?

During prayers we usually mention the royal family...probably not every week though.

I'm Church of Scotland and the Queen, Royal Family and all those in government ( both Westminster and Holyrood) are mentioned in our prayers of Intersession.

I'm CofE and the prayers are done by a different member of the congregation each week, so depends if they want to. At my old church there was one guy who would always include "bless and guide Elizabeth our Queen", which is a form of words I've heard in several churches.

No way, our church (Anabaptist)has a very long history of being persecuted by the likes of the Royals, mainly because we don't believe in militarism.

Ragwort · 13/11/2018 23:25

Not in the Church I attend now but years ago when I went to an Anglican Church we routinely prayed for the Royal Family.

AliMonkey · 13/11/2018 23:32

At my low church CoE, we regularly pray for world leaders and occasionally specifically for the RF in that, most likely when there is a specific event. We also tend to thank God occasionally for the Queen's Christian witness - she seems to have become more overt in referring to her faith eg in her Christmas speech than she used to be.

Tralalaatralalee · 13/11/2018 23:33

Sikhs' daily prayers specifically ask for 'blessings for everyone'.

Not the Queen in particular though.
