What to do with bl**dy body lotion?

For reasons unknown, I have an entire DRAWER in my bathroom full of f*cking body lotion and it's really annoying me.

I don't use the stuff (I'm a talc girl, TBH), I don't buy it, so where has all this sh*t come from? And, more importantly, how do I get rid of it?

The containers are plastic, so can be recycled, but need to be emptied first, I presume: can it be flushed down the loo?

The simple fact that it's there is making my teeth itch.

Ooh right might try eBay for conditioner thanks!

It must have mega silicone or something in it, who cares, my hair literally looks like someone else's after using it but I don't use box dyes any more

Lolling at the freezer bag idea, very inventive!

My local charity shop takes opened toiletries and cosmetics - they just sell them as seen.

Do you not have a family member you could offload it onto. Less likely to mind it having been opened.

Re hair dye conditioner, have seen tubes of it in Sainsbury's and Boots.

Worse crimes have been committed than just dumping the whole damn lot in the bin. And they you will be free!

(I would maybe have one go at freecyling first, but if that doesn't work then dump with a clear conscience)

redsummershoes · 08/11/2018 09:20

use it instead of soap after gardening/brick laying/sorting out the bike chain...

fussychica · 08/11/2018 09:29

I love body lotion. Very dry skin and spend lots of time in the sun. It's an essential for me. Please don't dump it, don't you have any family or friends you could offer it to? Donate any unopened bottles.

DappledThings · 08/11/2018 11:51

After putting it on do you not have to wait ages for it to sink in before you get dressed? Or don't you get greasy clothes?

I've never used the stuff but always wondered this!

Vitalogy · 08/11/2018 13:06

@DappledThings I think if you used too much it would. I use coconut oil, it soaks in just fine, I get dressed straight after.

DoingMyBest2010 · 08/11/2018 13:09

I sometimes use it as shoe polish. Works a treat.

Dowser · 08/11/2018 13:12

Never use it
Want as few chemicals on my skin as possible

EmmaGeddon · 08/11/2018 13:15

Sachets of hair conditioner go in my wash bag for when I travel abroad with hand luggage only. Lovely good quality conditioner and hardly take up any room.

Body lotion I use every day on knees, elbows, feet. If I wasn't going to use it, I'd donate it to a Women's Refuge. We also have a basket of unwanted toiletries in the loo at work - hand cream, perfume, bath oil. People take what they want and it pretty much all goes.

Fromage · 08/11/2018 13:22

I hate body lotion - I have found it doubles up as handcream though, which I am in bad need of as though my skin isn't dry, I have hands made of sandpaper and dust.

Meet0nTheIedge · 08/11/2018 13:26

I virtually never use it either, I tend to send it to the charity shop but worry that they must get stuck with masses of bottles after Christmas.

WitchyMcWitchface · 08/11/2018 13:44

I sometimes get given hand cream - I squirt some of it in the rubbish bin and put the tube/pot back in view for a couple of months so it looks like I'm using it, then chuck it out. I just don't want greasy stuff on my skin.

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 08/11/2018 14:14

dappled if it's cheap stuff you could feel greasy or be left with a residue due to poor quality ingredients. Good quality products will be blended properly to absorb quickly through the top layer of skin to keep moisturising and hydrating skin all day without you being aware of anything as it won't be left on the surface. Also with good quality products you should only need to use a little bit.

Cheap crap you could layer oodles on and still feel it's not enough but that is because the level of active ingredients that actually help your skin will be minimal to zero and it's all water, cheapest possible base oil and perfume.

slappinthebass · 08/11/2018 16:08

@YellowStickies I will buy them from you. It's the best conditioner and I don't die my hair!

slappinthebass · 08/11/2018 16:08

Dye even
