What to do with bl**dy body lotion?

For reasons unknown, I have an entire DRAWER in my bathroom full of f*cking body lotion and it's really annoying me.

I don't use the stuff (I'm a talc girl, TBH), I don't buy it, so where has all this sh*t come from? And, more importantly, how do I get rid of it?

The containers are plastic, so can be recycled, but need to be emptied first, I presume: can it be flushed down the loo?

The simple fact that it's there is making my teeth itch.

Do you have DC? Next time they're bored and need a craft activity, empty it all into a massive bowl/tray and let them play with it.

No, and I must be honest, I think that if I suggested this to my friends with kids, they'd look at me as though I had lost my mind.

I obviously don't have a vast amount of experience of child-entertaining, but I really can't see how small children and a large bowl of viscous matter would end well...Grin

If they're unopened and unused you can send them to a charity that donates beauty and sanitary products to women in need. Address is at the bottom of the article in the link.

My city has no landfill, all non recyclable waste is incinerated in a waste to energy incinerator. I use this fact to allow guilt free disposal of anything that I do not want, is not recyclable, not good enough to sell or send to charity and I cannot be arsed giving away via Facebook etc.*

I'm going to take a few pages from your book.
My area does use landfill but for a long time I've been of the view at some point in the future landfills will be unfilled and waste recycled but reading your post makes me think it could end up in an energy from waste plant!

I always end up with a couple of bottles after Xmas. Never used the stuff. Gave the last lot away to a plumber I had round for his wife!

Also it's Mumsnet. You can swear. No need for the fucking asterisks.

EdWinchester · 07/11/2018 18:08

I am intrigued as to what you are doing with talc.

And also that you don’t use body lotion. I slather it on twice a day, always have done.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 07/11/2018 18:23

I like talc too - under knockers and armpits!

ThistleAmore · 07/11/2018 18:55

@EdWinchester - you know the bit where your bum meets your legs? I NEVER feel as though it's properly dry.

How can you not use body lotion?!

pearpickingporky84 · 07/11/2018 20:06

I thought I’d had a great clear out of body lotion a couple of years ago, the PTA were doing a raffle and decided to make up a hamper of beauty stuff, I donated loads and was delighted to have room in my dressing table drawers, for about a week until I won the fecking hamper and ended up with everyone else’s unwanted stuff as well...!

MikeUniformMike · 07/11/2018 20:10

Don't put it down the loo. The only thing you should put down the loo are pee, poo and paper.
Donate it or offer it to friends, relatives or colleagues, or re-gift it.

diamondsandrose · 07/11/2018 23:03

Please please can I have all the hair dye conditioner from whoever has a drawer full?
My hair loves it!!! It's amazing , makes my hair shinier than anything else. And you can't buy it separately sadly.

I'll pay your postage

diamondsandrose · 07/11/2018 23:04

YellowStickies it was you

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 07/11/2018 23:48

I find anything listed as free on those selling pages gets snapped up, doesn't matter what it is! If they're in decent condition and minimally used you might well find a taker.

I hate to chuck perfectly decent stuff. I also have an abundance of products, mostly body lotion. Fortunately I have a close relative who's more than happy to take it off my hands Grin

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 07/11/2018 23:49

Haha me too @diamondsandrose

It's great isn't it!! I don't use box dyes but my mum gives me her conditioners as she doesn't use them!

BluePheasant · 07/11/2018 23:56

Offer them for free on fb. Failing that, scoop contents into the bin and recycle the plastic. Get your drawer back!

DonaldDucksTowel · 08/11/2018 00:00

How do you use talc in place of body lotion??
I’ve never known anyone to use talc, I’m not completely sure what it’s for, just looks like an asthmatics worst nightmare to me Confused

Vitalogy · 08/11/2018 00:06

Offer it on Freecycle.

Vitalogy · 08/11/2018 00:07

Oh and put the word about that you don't need Birthday/Christmas presents.

froufroulala · 08/11/2018 00:15

Use it for shaving legs.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 08/11/2018 00:21

Talc = fungal infections. Yuk

SockEatingMonster · 08/11/2018 00:37

I do moisturise, but have sensitive skin and tend to react to stuff on the third or forth application, so ended up in a similar situation to you.

After giving away what I could, I started squeezing out what was left into freezer bags, and sticking a foot in each whilst I read/watched tv/etc. After a few weeks of this I had empty shelves and lovely soft moisturised feet

I’ll admit it might not be to everyone’s tastes though... Blush

Housewife2010 · 08/11/2018 04:35

Re the hair dye conditioner, you can buy it on eBay. I always sell the ones from my Casting hair dye and other people do too.

Ewanthescreamsheep · 08/11/2018 05:06

I was going to suggest using it for shaving too. The conditioner also works for this.
