Does anyone have any good tips for gaining weight fast?

I need to gain a stone in the next couple of weeks. Long story.

So far i'm thinking milkshake. Soup. Cheese. Buttered toast. But what else can i eat thats fattening?

If you ‘need’ fo gain weight fast why on earth arent you receiving advice from a doctor (if medical) or your coach (if sport)?

Every now and then an poster with ED pops up saying they need to gain weight fast and asks what can they eat.,, hope you’re not the same one.

Eat constantly - meals plus snacking. Hold
off on the exercise until you’ve had a few weeks of this, then start doing weight lifting type stuff.

I dont have an eating disorder and i cant see my dr. I just need food and meal advise really and some place to talk as i cant talk about it in rl.

Hiya Martha..I read you had a rubbishy day yesterday. Today's a new day so get your positive head on and crush it..don't jet any negative thoughts in AT ALL...negative thoughts lead to negative actions. Are you reading inspirational / motivational stuff..lots of it online. Try not to focus your whole being on food and eating, see this process as a life change little by little...😍💪🏻

PotteryGirl · 13/11/2018 11:13

Oh and by the way, this is Real Life. We're all real on here, not face to face but still real....

Piccalillisnooze · 13/11/2018 11:24

Oh OP you poor thing. Have you thought about trying any of the Yoga With Adriene videos on YouTube? Just thinking that that is a great gentle way to get in shape that should also REALLY help with anxiety, letting go, maybe with depression (it did for me).

Thinking of that, there’s been some lovely chat on here about the benefit of crochet and knitting etc and how people really feel it helps their mental health, even to give it an hour on a daily basis. Both these things really help and have helped me. Also gardening - not available to all, but a little plant maybe?

I’m so sorry, the weight sounds the least of your issues, but giving you a virtual handhold - hang on, you will come through it!

Piccalillisnooze · 13/11/2018 11:26

Also, sweet carby veg - sweet potato roasted, maybe baked apples with mincemeat, nice bread and jam. All the carbs basically! For me at any rate.

Hi Martha - hope you are feeling more positive today. I was going to add food wise look at eating plenty of protein and good fats in several smaller meals a day (5 instead of 3) eat full fat dairy and snack on plenty of nuts - pecans and almonds are great. I appreciate you said you don’t need to go to the GP but to me the depression and MH issues, weight loss, thyroid problems, skin problems and vomiting all sound like classic symptoms for Coeliac disease. Please get it checked out, ask the Dr. to test for it specifically because sometimes it is totally overlooked but if it is CD then once you have it under control it can change your life.

Piccalillisnooze · 13/11/2018 11:42

sayhello so interesting!!! I am coeliac! I never put all those symptoms together before!!

MarthaArthur · 13/11/2018 12:46

Thank you all for being so nice it is helping me a lot. I love adreine yoga i should do that again. And stodgy food sounds great about now. I know it seems.counter productive to focus on weight but i look awful which makes me feel awful and i just had a bad break up so want to look nice. Thats interesting about being coeliac. Im not sure i am as i have no digestive problems the vomitting is psychological. (Went out with a work mate last week and saw my exs look a like and ran to the bathroom to puke. Not my finest moment.)

Martha I know I sound like a stuck record but I had no digestive issues either and neither did my 3 children also coeliacs only one of them had any recognisable symptoms and that was weight loss only. That is why so many people go undiagnosed because even Drs dismiss you unless you have digestive issues. Looking back at the symptoms we had I was anaemic and had chronic fatigue ( although I didn’t know any other feeling as that was my normal) my DS had ‘brain fog’ my DD had delayed puberty. Take a look at the coeliac uk page I’ve hopefully linked to and see if any of it sounds familiar. At the very least you will have ruled it out.

sayhellotothelittlefella · 13/11/2018 13:08

@Piccalillisnooze - coeliac is a multi system disorder so it can affect people in many different ways but even a lot of medical professionals don’t realise this. My DS was told by a dr that even with a positive blood test it was unlikely to be CD - it was. A friend of mine just happened to mention a spate of miscarriages and from that a conversation started and she has now been diagnosed as Coeliac. Her only symptoms were MC’s and unpleasant wind.

MarthaArthur · 13/11/2018 13:16

Thank you i will totally look into it all. I didnt get to bed until 6am so im tired and foggy today.

If your teeth/gums are bleeding make sure you are brushing and flossing well and don't rinse after brushing
Book a hygienist appointment if you can

PotteryGirl · 13/11/2018 14:00

I know a Dr is out of the question but what about booking a counselling appointment to help with your self esteem? I see a counsellor and just being able to talk freely and safely is a real help. Sometimes when you explain out loud what your perceived problems are you see how 'trivial' they are...and how much weight you give to these problems when really we shouldn't pay any attention to them at all...

EmilyRosiEl · 13/11/2018 14:23

Just wanted to send a hug! Sorry you're still feeling crap but that's so brilliant that you've put on 2lbs- hopefully it will make you feel a bit stronger and then impact on the depression too. Also giving your brain enough B12 and other nutrients will help with the OCD and Depression.

I was just wondering whether you could buy some multivitamins? That should make up for some of the nutritional gaps and will help with hair, nails, dental health etc.

Macaroni cheese sounds like a nice idea if you can stomach it- it's wonderfully high in calories and calcium and totally delicious!

I'm sorry you've just had a bad break-up, that must really suck. Would you be able to consider something like counselling or are you feeling too unwell at the moment? xx

viagrafalls · 13/11/2018 14:35

I put on lots of weight by enjoying a peanut butter, banana, avocado and nut milk smoothie every morning. Very fattening and healthy. still trying to lose the weight

MarthaArthur · 13/11/2018 19:31

I went to the hygenist in september :(

Thanks everyone for being so nice. I will be ok though its just a bad period of time right now but i will get there. Today i had a pizza and strawb milk. Im now making scrambled eggs with butter and have stew later. Will try have more strawb milk and maybe toast and snacks.
