Has anyone chosen not to allow their daughter to have the hpv vaccine?

namechanger70 · 06/11/2018 20:49

I am not madly keen on vaccinations per se but if they are necessary then my children will have them. My daughter is due to have the hpv vaccine soon. When I last looked into this several years ago there was a lot of bad news about this vaccine, its use was suspended, albeit temporarily, in some countries and you do not need to look very far to find accounts of tragic consequences for some. How much of this is true and what proportion of people it affects is a moot point.
Is there anyone on here that is knowledgeable on this subject and decided not to vaccinate their children with this vaccine? It is extremely difficult to make an informed decision; many articles may be scaremongering and I don’t think reading official sources is necessarily any better as they are only going to be pro vaccination. Happy to receive any constructive thoughts. Thanks very much.

My friend, married for 23 years and faithful, died of cervical cancer. As it happened it was a very rare and aggressive form, which might not have been HPV caused. But she was adamant that not having the inoculation was madness.

I will spare you a description of what happened to her body in her final month of life. It was unbelievably grim. She couldn’t bear her friends seeing her.

Why risk this unnecessarily?

CrookedMe · 07/11/2018 16:10

God @Sixcupsoftea I'm sorry your daughter is struggling, how awful for your family.

I'm wondering though, has her illness been linked to the vac? I couldn't tell from your post if a link has been established or if it's guesswork. I think ME is quite commonly first seen in teen years isn't it?

I'm genuinely keen to learn, not being goady at all.

It's strange that some Doctors won't get their children vaccinated.
Before it was rolled out in the UK, I was working in a Gp surgery in admin.
We had a team of health professionals visit the surgery to give 5 Gp's, 3 practice nurses & about 7 auxiliary staff in various rolls to lecture us all. At the talk, we were all asked the ?
"Would we vaccinate our children". Not one Gp or nurse put their hand up. I was flummoxed. All the rest of us raised our hand.
I personally had a pre-cancerous smear & had a total hysterectomy. My m-il died at 68 with cervical cancer in 2003. My Dd2 had problems. I was scared. I suggested she inform the specialist about me and her gran. The information was considered, but discarded because the specialist informed my Dd2 that cervical cancer is not genetic.
My 2 Dd's were beyond the age range. But given conflicting info, I'd pitch for the vaccine.
Just wanted to post my experiences on the topic. No academic knowledge.

Labmum · 07/11/2018 16:15

My Son is only 2 but if it is not available for boys on the NHS by the time he reaches the appropriate age he will be vaccinated against HPV privately. At my first smear test at age 25 it was discovered I had CIN3 changes, it took me almost 5 years, LLETZ treatment and 6 monthly smears to finally get a clear smear test. I dread to think what might have happened had I not attended my smear test when I was first called.

It concerns me that my husband has been exposed to HPV because of me and him now being at risk of developing a horrible cancer somewhere down the line.

The vaccine is available, for free. Snap their bloody hand off! Because treatment for cervical cancer is FAR FAR worse than any adverse affects the vaccine possibly have.

MedSchoolRat · 07/11/2018 16:32

I'm sorry about your DD, Sixcupsoftea. It sounds like textboook POTS.
That's also exactly what POTS is like when it hits girls who have never been vaccinated.

In 2016, Eur. Med Agency commented, trying to find any link between HPV jab & POTS or similar conditions. Vaccinated girls were no more likely to get POTS (or related conditions) than unvaccinated girls. Which is to say that unvacc'd girls DO get these conditions, too, just as often. They are unfair illnesses, we'd all like an explanation for them. But HPV isn't it. We need to keep looking for the cause.

mrbob · 07/11/2018 16:33

I think it is too simple to say there is no damage - what would the 6% serious adverse effects be to fit the above criteria?

That is 6% of the adverse events not 6% of the people vaccinated. The point is if you work out the numbers of people with serious adverse events v the number of people who would otherwise go on to develop cervical cancer and require invasive treatment or who die.

These aren’t even proven adverse events from the vaccine, just events people THINK are from the vaccine. In the same way that the MMR autism link still persists because autism often becomes apparent at about the age the vaccine is given, ME/CFS often becomes apparent in teenage years (often post infection) This is correlation NOT causation

So yes there MAY be a small number of people who develop serious adverse events (and that is in no way certain) and for those people it would be devastating. But even on an individual level your risk is smaller than that of developing a devastating disease

mrbob · 07/11/2018 16:36

I mean the suspicion in people’s minds of an mmr autism link not an actual link

Hi 6cups,

It's hard not to blame yourself when you can't fix it & you don't have an explanation :( .

The EMA statement cites studies that tried to adjust for under-reporting (there are several stats methods that do that). Still didn't find more cases of POTS & related illnesses among vacc'd than un-vacced people.

The under-detection can have a technical name, by the way "under-ascertainment", which means something about the data collection methods were biased, could made the comparison bogus. I wonder if the reporting bias would tend to make being jabbed look much unsafer than it is. I imagine never vacc'd kids might (as a group) get less regular medical treatment, so their cases of POTs might go unrecognised: could make unjabbed seem much safer when it's not at all.

Stupomax · 07/11/2018 17:12

She was fine for some time after the last jab. Sine then she has become chronically ill. She has been diagnosed with m.e./cfs and Pots. She cannot attend school, do her sports, play her instruments or socialize with her friends. It has devestated her life. She has been ill for months. Prior to this she hadn’t even been to the gp in over three years.

My friend's son is going through something very similar - he hasn't attended school in more than a year. It's awful isn't it?

He has not had the HPV vaccine. No one seems to know what the cause is.

Loraline · 07/11/2018 18:49

@Wazznme
I opted out for my daughter but I've questioned my decision. However, my cousin is a doctor and he said no. He's in Canada. She's not sexually active yet and I'd like her to be a little older before she gets it.

These are the types of posts I find baffling. So yiur haooy for her to have the vaccine but not at 13? Why? And your doctor friend said 'don't do it' - at all or just at 13? It makes no sense whatsoever! It's proven to be most effective if given before sexually active so why wait?

RustyParker · 07/11/2018 18:51

I'm hoping my current Y7 son will be including in the rollout for boys to be vaccinated but interested in what a pp said about side effects for elite athletes as he competes at a high level in his sport. Does anyone know any more?

I'll be making sure he gets the vaccine anyway, NHS or private.

Terf2Terf · 07/11/2018 19:46

My sons are 15 and 17. Neither has even kissed a girl (or boy), let alone any sexual activity so would be perfect candidates for the vaccine. Should I pester DH to pay for this (£150 per child)?

Mishappening · 07/11/2018 22:18

Oh just do it for goodness sake. How very lucky we are to have these life-saving vaccines. Do you really think that a cash-strapped NHS would fork out £millions if it was a bad thing to do? Be glad the vaccine is available.

MindBodyChocolate · 07/11/2018 22:20

I can't get my head around all this nonsense about vaccines. They protect against terrible, harmful diseases. The end.

I don't have a daughter but if I did, it would never cross my mind for her not t have it. Makes me cross how much ill informed crap ppl spout on this. Put your energy towards something worthwhile.

Annandale · 07/11/2018 22:34

Are you sure it's not £300 per child Terf2terf?

Labmum · 07/11/2018 22:34

@Terf2Terf I 100% would be pestering your DH and getting them vaccinated. It's expensive but worth it IMO.

StarUtopia · 07/11/2018 22:47

There are currently only 250 court confirmed HPV vaccine related deaths. Thousands often go unnoticed as a result of unreported or undocumented cases. Federal records aren't accrete.

〰💔〰 HERE ARE 13 PEOPLE THAT HAVE DIED 〰💔〰
FROM THEIR (CERVARIX OR GARDASIL) VACCINE INJURY.
This project called 'Remember My Name' aims to show the public the possible brutality of vaccination while honouring & bringing justice to those who have lost their precious lives due to the lack of safety, effectiveness, understanding & compassion in the pharmaceutical industry. So if you know of anyone whose lost their life after the HPV vaccine, government confirmed or not, share this post with their name & symptoms as the caption. I will then add them to this list of remembrance. #VaccineInjuryAwarenessMonth
Jenny Tetlock Gardasil vaccine, paralysis, death Christina Richelle Tarsell
Gardasil vaccine, sudden death
Amber Kaufman Gardasil vaccine, seizure immediately after vaccine, stopped breathing, artificial ventilation for 3 days, death. Megan Hild
Gardasil vaccine, sudden death
Jasmin Soriat Gardasil vaccine, respiratory paralysis, death Brooke Petkevicius
Gardasil vaccine, caused a blood clot that stopped her heart.
Jessica Ericzon After Jessica's 2nd shot of Gardasil, she complained of pain in the head, sore joints and fatigue. After her third shot she said this particular area at the back of her head hurt. 2 days after the third dose, her mother found her dead on the bathroom floor. Pathologist said her death was 'instant'. Another doctor, Dr. Shaw who was promoting the vaccine, blamed her death on a toothbrush: "We don't even know what she died of," Dr. Shaw said. "You could blame a toothbrush." Jessica was a 17 year old girl with no previous health problems. Natalie Morton
Cervarix vaccine, collapsed 30 minutes later. Given CPR, died in hospital a few hours later.
Tumour found on post-mortem, but would not have been asymptomatic as they asserted if it were large enough to kill her instantly.
Vaccines are also contraindicated in people with cancer so it could have been the straw that broke the camels back.
Children are not screened for genetic or cancerous conditions prior to being vaccinated.
Moshella Roberts Gardasil vaccine. Died 4 days later after going to sleep at work and never waking up. Santana G. Valdez
Gardasil vaccine. Started 'whistling' in her sleep after the vaccination which was subsequently recognised as breathing problems.
Died in her sleep aged only 18.
Pathologist found papillomatosis in her airways (warts caused by HPV that line the airways).
Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis.
Jasmine Renata Gardasil vaccine. 18 year old, previously healthy girl had 3 injections of Gardasil and began to feel pain all over her body, tingling in her arms and legs, became tired and irritable and had a racing heart. After 6 months of progressively ill health, Jasmine's mother went to pick her up from work and found she wasn't there so she went home and discovered her daughter lying dead in bed (September 2009). Anabelle Morin
HPV vaccine. 14 year old girl. After the first shot she began experiencing dizziness and memory loss and was transferred to hospital for tests, which found nothing.
A few days after the 2nd shot, her mother found her unconscious in the bath tub and she was unable to be revived.
Coroner wants further testing of HPV vaccines.
`Chace Topperwein
3 year old boy. He was accidentally given Gardasil vaccine at 6 weeks of age (instead of a meningitis vaccine the nurse meant to give him).
At 2 years old he was diagnosed with leukaemia - his parents believe the vaccine caused his leukaemia.
He sadly lost his fight for life in June 2012.
🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻🔶🔻
-No vaccine is ever tested for its carcinogenic potential and this is stated in manufacturer's data sheets.
-In trials of Gardasil there was a 44% increase in cervical cancer in women who already had HPV virus in their body at the time of vaccination- this could have been prevented with basic screening before hand.

Feel free to have a look at Chloe's story - She's just one girl who has had life changing effects from this vaccine.

Chloe's experience

I think i will stick with education and encouraging my daughter (and son) to be safer with sex and prompt with medical attention with any symptoms. I also would be paying for a smear test at the age of 20/21, not waiting until 25 - which frankly is disgraceful. By 25, some girls could have been sexually active for 10 years.

Rinceoir · 07/11/2018 22:55

My children will all be vaccinated. HPV is pretty ubiquitous, it’s unusual for anyone not to have been exposed. It’s not associated with promiscuity- almost everyone who is ever sexually active will be exposed (not that there’s anything wrong with having lots of partners either, just people here seem to think they won’t have it due to having small number of partners). There’s data suggesting that some of us may even contract it during our own births. Most of us clear it but it can reactivate at a later time. There is no evidence that the vaccine is associated with cfs/pots/me etc.

I’d like to reduce the risk to the next generation of HPV associated cancers. I’d also like to reduce the risk of significant cervical damage from lletz procedures causing issues in pregnancy for women- preterm deliveries, second trimester losses and simply the anxiety that goes with requiring a cervical stitch or monitoring in pregnancy.

MissConductUS · 07/11/2018 23:36

@namechanger70

Of the reports to VAERS, 6% were classified as “serious.” About 22% of the VAERS reports were not related to health problems, but were reported for reasons such as improper vaccine storage or the vaccine being given to someone for whom it was not recommended.

That's an aggregate of all VAERS reports since the earliest version of the vaccine, covering 100 million cumulative doses. These are the statistics for the formulation currently in distribution:

Gardasil 9 is currently the only HPV vaccine available in the United States. From its licensure in December 2014 through December 2017, about 29 million doses of Gardasil 9 have been distributed in the U.S. During the same period, VAERS received 7,244 U.S. reports of adverse events following Gardasil 9 vaccination. Overall, 97% were non-serious reports; 3% of reports have been classified as serious.

So you have 29 million doses, 7,244 adverse event reports, 3% of which were deemed serious. 217 cases out of 29 million doses. And the adverse events can't always be linked to the vaccination.

MrsTommyBanks · 07/11/2018 23:46

This wasn't available to me as a teen.
I was diagnosed with cervical cancer at 18 due to a routine test in my first trimester with my first child.
All my daughter's were vaccinated. Not doing so is neglect imho.
I had extensive treatment. Please do not neglect your daughter's health.
Clearly it would have been 'better' if I had never got pregnant. But I did. I have a wonderful 33 yo son
If I hadn't I'd be dead.

MrsTommyBanks · 07/11/2018 23:51

I was responding to the OP.
My daughter's are in their late 20s and completely healthy.

StarUtopia should be Cynthia Janak herself (who copyrighted of all the copy & pasted text). CJ has her own page in American Loons. Does anyone know the rules for copyright on web pages? I'd be pissed off if that was my copyright being violated.

Her big soap box might be America Renew, where she also decries fluoridated water and other vaccines as bad things. Janak reckoned that 134,000 British people every 6 months are hit by nasty after effects of the HPV jab. 268k/yr, so 2.4 million since the jab introduced. Have you, too, NOT noticed that "epidemic" ? She also reckons 76% of boys will be badly effected after HPV rolled out for them (since they are already so prone to autism).

America Renew is a good place to read lots of pro-Trump stories.
