Hand hold please. I think my mom is dying

My mom fell ill with pneumonia a few weeks ago. The last month has been a cycle of her getting better and about to be released from hospital and then going a bit downhill and having to increase her oxygen, etc. She finally seemed to be fully on the mend last weeekend when something happened yesterday (we're not sure what yet) and she collapsed. She is now in ICU on life support. Her doctors say there is still hope but who knows if they're just saying that.

I'm only 28, I don't know how to live the rest of my life without my mom. Right now I feel like I'm losing my mind, I guess it's just the shock. Please, if anyone has any positive stories from similar situations, please share. I need some hope in my life.

So she has made a miraculous turnaround! She is still very ill but is now conscious and they have weaned the ventilator down to a lower level. Next step is to see how she does without it in a couple of days. Not being able to talk is frustrating for her but she has a pen and writing pad. Whatever meds she's on are making her hands very shaky but she's managing to write. She seems ok mentally which is a relief to us all. Thank you for your good wishes everyone.

Sending good wishes to you and your family. What a stressful few weeks you’ve all had. Make sure you eat well and look after yourself too. Really hope your mum continues what sounds like a great improvement.

BastardGoDarkly · 11/11/2018 13:36

How's things Cherry ?

CherryBlossom23 · 12/11/2018 13:38

Not good. A number of things has happened since Wednesday and she has gone rapidly downhill. The doctor said they are doing everything they can but her chances are slim. We are clinging to a tiny shred of hope but trying to prepare for the worst.

Sending you strength and Flowers. Look after yourself, and spend as much time your your Mum as you can. Talk to her. Tell her the important things. About the good times you've had, that you love her.

I'm not trying to predict how things will go bit these are important things to do right now. Flowers

CherryBlossom23 · 12/11/2018 21:59

She has multi organ failure and her heart stopped this morning. They revived her but we have decided to let her go if it's stops again. She has suffered so much the past couple of weeks, all of it undeserved.

So sorry. Didn’t want to read and run. My mum died last year in v similar circumstances. It’s truly shit. I hope you have family with you. Take care Flowers

marvellousnightforamooncup · 12/11/2018 22:09

Cherry, how awful, I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.

I lost my mum to pneumonia this summer. She had cancer but caught pneumonia and didn't recover. It is unutterably shit seeing a loved one so ill.

Strength to you and your mum.

CherryBlossom23 · 12/11/2018 22:41

Thanks you everyone, and I am sorry to everyone who has lost their wonderful mum
