Just watching TV and an advert come on with loads of people in it and I thought there must be loads of people out there who have been in adverts on TV. I haven't! But I knew someone who used to model for catalogues as a child! Have you ever been an extra in an advert? Just being nosy 😁

When I was a student, me and two friends were "spotted" in the union bar and we ended up being in one of those channel idents (like the BBC have with the fell runners or swimmers etc), except ours also had our chitchat as a voiceover as we were mucking about.

First I knew it had aired was when I got to campus one day and everyone told me I'd been on TV the night before! They used it for quite a long time too Grin

My ex-FIL was in an ad in the 80s where he was topless in a field cutting corn but I can’t even remember what it was advertising - Guinness maybe? I have googled but can’t find anything.

bakebakebake · 04/11/2018 17:42

I know the blonde girl from the Go Compare horse advert.

Someone I went to primary school was in an advert for insurance.

I remember the Johnny rotten butter advert! So many faces that we'd see every day on our TV but, by the sounds of it, are just ordinary people in the right place the right time 😁

My mate’s an actor, he’s in a program at the moment and he was recently in an advert which seemed to be on the tele all the time, it was hilarious. Oh there he is again. Grin

Not in an advert, but when I was in middle school half of my year got to go to see a ship being launched, cracking the bottle of bubbly ceremony etc. I believe from Blyth in Northumberland.

It was the kids doing CDT (woodwork stuff) going to see it but I was in Home Economics for that half term so I was going to miss out.

My form tutor, the CDT teacher, knew I wanted to go and knew it was my birthday so he used that as an excuse to get me on the trip. (I was a teacher's pet for most of my education).

It was all featured on the news and as they panned around to show the crowd there was our group, with me really close to the camera, waving our flags and cheering. Yay, stardom.

I went for afternoon tea with my family and ended up being asked to sit in the back of a hotel chain advert. I had to sit with someone else’s husband (at least 30 years older than me) for ages whilst they filmed.

It was absolutely ridiculous, I don’t know why we agreed to it!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 04/11/2018 19:46

LikeARedBalloon he got quite cross about an estate agency and splattered some clay about in a pottery studio. Grin

I was salsa dancing in a Lighter Life advert. The dancers were recruited by ad agency staff who came to a salsa club. It was an extremely long and boring (and exceptionally cold) day. We were paid £100 each - I doubt that was minimum wage really with the hours we were there. And I probably only danced for 15 minutes in total - it was all faffing and setting up camera tracks and stuff. And they made me wear a truly hideous stripey dress.

PotteringAlong · 04/11/2018 19:52

I went to school with the milky bar kid, if that counts?! Grin

thecatneuterer · 04/11/2018 19:55

Oh and shortly after that I was asked to be part of a ballroom dancing scene for a tv series set in the 40s that I have now completely forgotten the name of. It would have involved getting myself to Croydon for 6.30 am and the money was similar. By that time I'd learned my lesson and said no.

KatyMac · 04/11/2018 19:58

DH was in a British Airways Advert for the 4th terminal at Gatwick (I think) - he did a Viennese Waltz

DD has done adverts but usually online rather than TV; actually she is in a crowd in a Car ad on TV (I think)

LikeARedBalloon · 04/11/2018 20:17

Msadora I'll be keeping my eye out for it now...I think I know which one you mean 😁

I’m in a TUI advert but it’s only online. When we arrived on holiday they were filming and asked us to sign model release forms ‘just in case’, then they popped up every fucking which way we turned. Luckily they couldn’t use most of the footage as our DC we’re usually wearing football kits 😂 so we only feature briefly.

LittleMachine · 04/11/2018 20:45

DC were that should say

Oldraver · 04/11/2018 21:41

Yes an advert for a Clubland CD circa 2003.

We weer stopped going into Space, Ibiza and asked out opinion on British clubbing...'interviewer' then asked gobby mate her to say some stuff about a Clubland cd and she obliged. We were'nt told it was for an advert or paid

Got home 9 days after and it was on tv

PhilomenaButterfly · 04/11/2018 22:35

I'm in an advert online for a rather embarrassing old lady product.

BuggeringNora · 04/11/2018 22:44

I was in an advert, (photo), for an asthma inhaler, of all things. I got the job through my aunt's ad agency - my sister also did it before me; I took over when she got too old! Unsurprisingly, the ad only appeared in medical type publications. I think I got £100, (I was about 14). I've actually never once seen the finished ad - just had it described to me.

MissionItsPossible · 05/11/2018 14:48

I have, for CITV. I know there's some old content on Youtube but I'm too scared to look into it in case I find it and there are horrible comments on there!

YouGotRedOnYou · 05/11/2018 14:54

My ex was in a Sofology/sofaworks ad. Then he got work in Top Boy and Eastenders.

BaronRottsSoundOfGraves · 05/11/2018 15:00

I was in Why Don't You? I auditioned for other things including adverts. I was part of a creepy child choir featured in a Road Safety ad. My brother auditioned for The Milky Bar kid. They even cut his hair and had a very convincing wig made. He got chicken pox so held off filming it. They changed the ad so wasn't needed anymore. He still got some money though.

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 05/11/2018 15:02

Red I know who your ex is and he is fit as fuck. Grin
