Have people forgotten what boy george did?

He's everywhere. All over the telly and radio yet he falsely imprisoned someone and was convicted. Seems all kind of wrong to me that Jonathan Ross etc are fawning over him.

'Do you really want to hurt me?' a nasty piece of shit [[https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2009/jan/16/boy-george-sentenced-handcuffing-male-escort]]

limitedperiodonly · 04/11/2018 00:20

this is the proper link

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 04/11/2018 00:21

Why don't we just leave it, hope nothing like that happens again and accept he served his sentence

Well that's absolutely fine if we are going to take this attitude towards all ex-convicts, not just the gay ones in nice hats.

butterflysugarbaby · 04/11/2018 00:22

Say what you like about him, but he committed this crime, and was punished for it.

People are entitled to start over. Holding grudges against people and hating them for life, especially when the crime they committed didn't affect you or your family is a bit ridiculous tbh.

People should be allowed to move on. (From some crimes! Not all. But the one George committed yes...)

Same with Cheryl (Girls Aloud.) She hit a woman in a nightclub about 15-16 years ago, when she was barely out of her teens (only 20!) and people haven't shut up about it since. Even though Cheryl has done nothing wrong since. It's pathetic.

Give Boy George a break FGS. If he 'makes your skin crawl,' then don't watch him!

limitedperiodonly · 04/11/2018 00:26

butterflysugarbaby you do make me larf

borderline11 · 04/11/2018 00:50

People getting punished for their crimes doesn’t automatically make them a nice person. Boy George, Cheryl Cole etc have moved on., but they’ll always be remembered for the crimes they did, there’s not much they can do about it. They’ve not done too badly....and Cheryl Cole was a grown woman, what she did was despicable, as what Boy George did. A pair of violent louts.

What did JR do
This from Wikipedia:
Following a guest appearance by Ross on The Russell Brand Show broadcast on 18 October 2008, Ross was suspended for 12 weeks without pay by the BBC on 29 October, after a series of lewd answerphone messages, including Ross saying, "He fucked your granddaughter", were left for then 78-year-old actor Andrew Sachs regarding Sachs' granddaughter Georgina Baillie, by Russell Brand and Ross, which were broadcast on the pre-recorded show.

I'll leave it to the Mumsnet jury to justify that!

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2018 19:18

Boy George was on Sunday Brunch on C4 this morning. He must be doing the rounds...

icebearforpresident · 04/11/2018 19:31

I don’t really have an opinion on boy George and can’t say i’d given his recent media blitz much notice but can’t help but think if the escort had been female this would be a much different thread.

Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand acted like total twats and were hung out to dry by the daily mail and an angry bandwagon and Andrew Sachs has talked about it in every interview i’ve seen him do since, usually in the daily mail. And didn’t the granddaughter (or was it his niece) start working for one of the porn channels after it? Either way, not the same thing!

NotACleverName · 04/11/2018 19:42

lol at the minimising in this thread. If it was a woman that he'd chained to a radiator and beaten it would be getting brushed aside because he made a few [average] songs thirty years ago. BG is a piece of shit. Period.

HairyToity · 04/11/2018 19:44

If it had been a female escorts he'd have been imprisoned.

HairyToity · 04/11/2018 19:44

Sorry I meant career finished.

Belindabauer · 04/11/2018 19:48

Yes I saw him on Sunday brunch and turned off.
I was a huge culture club fan when I was young but even I won't watch him now.
He wasn't very pleasant at all.

MarthaArthur · 04/11/2018 20:00

You think thats bad you should see what Mark Walberg did and how successful he is now.

Raspberry88 · 04/11/2018 20:05

Nope, not forgotten here. DH rages every time he's on the TV or radio. I can't believe he still is, it's shocking.

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2018 20:07

Blimey just read up on Mark Wahlberg. Shock Shock

Charley50 · 04/11/2018 20:41

I haven't forgotten.
What did Mark Wahlberg do?

canyouhearthedrums · 04/11/2018 20:44

I thought he was dead

Sparklingbrook · 04/11/2018 20:46

Too much to type Charley50, have a quick Google.

Belindabauer · 04/11/2018 21:07

Bloody hell just googled Mark Wahlberg.

MissionItsPossible · 05/11/2018 15:34

I knew about Mark Wahlberg and it really gets on my nerves whenever I see him.

He wrote to the Governor of Massachusetts asking him to be officially pardoned.

"In his application, Wahlberg said his primary reason for seeking pardon was to pursue a concessionaire’s license in California for his restaurant business (the burger chain Wahlburgers)"

The backlash was so immense it prompted him to drop it and then he seeked out the man and his family and apologised to them (funny how all that time had passed and it was only when the backlash happened he thought to apologise to the man he blinded). Hmm
