Have people forgotten what boy george did?

He's everywhere. All over the telly and radio yet he falsely imprisoned someone and was convicted. Seems all kind of wrong to me that Jonathan Ross etc are fawning over him.

OP posts:
SirGawain · 03/11/2018 23:39

I have not forgot what Jonaton Ross did! Woudn't watch him if he was the last thing on TV.

SirGawain · 03/11/2018 23:43

Sorry, poor typing. put it down to the lateness of the hour.

Valanice1989 · 03/11/2018 23:43

I haven't forgotten it. I really feel for the victim, still having to see him plastered all over the media.

whatsthestory123 · 03/11/2018 23:44

I remember it,ive never found him very engaging but gave up with Jonathon years ago he was always up the guests backside/fawning over them it was embarrassing

FissionChips · 03/11/2018 23:46

WHat did JR do, SirGawain?

Ssshorty · 03/11/2018 23:48

Yeah what did JR do?!

Davros · 03/11/2018 23:52

Is this one if those chain threads? HR did Sachsgate

Karting1967 · 03/11/2018 23:54

Left a series of offensive messages on Andrew Sach’s voice mail along with that other tosser Russell Brand.

Nettletheelf · 03/11/2018 23:54

For everybody who stopped watching The Voice when Boy George became a judge: did you also swear off The X Factor when Cheryl Tweedy Cole Fernandez Versini was on it? You know, after being convicted of punching a lavatory attendant in the face at a nightclub.

Karting1967 · 03/11/2018 23:55

Doesn’t seem to have done his career any harm sadly.

BatFacedOK · 03/11/2018 23:55

So what do you want to happen OP? He's been convicted and punished. This was all a long time ago. He's not 'relaunched a career,' he's never really gone away if you take a few minutes to google what he's been doing for the past decade or so.

So he's served his sentence and has returned back to work.

I don't understand your point at all really. Yes what he did was terrible, unpalatable and cannot be excised or argues against. But he's served his time and that's that isn't it? Unless you believe in some sort of eternal punishment

NorthernRunner · 03/11/2018 23:56

This shit happens all the time though, famous people doing awful things and then they are adored again. Cheryl Tweedy/Cole/Versini she beat up the lady in the club and then not so long after was nations sweetheart. Hmm

Rebecca36 · 03/11/2018 23:58

Oh that Ross and Brand thing was just two grown up people who should have known better talking 'rude', like kids used to do when parents were out of earshot. It was infantile but they apologised and I think were either sacked or suspended, can't remember. Nobody died.

No comparison between that and what Boy George did but I do wonder, I know he was convicted and did time, but was it really quite how the law presented it. I honestly don't know but the fact that people still like him quite a lot and he has plenty of work makes me wonder. I've always liked Boy George. The only people who know the entire truth are George and the bloke concerned.

Why worry anyway? Not our affair and George did his time.

brizzledrizzle · 03/11/2018 23:58

Should people who have been convicted of a crime no longer be allowed to return to their previous job?

Dljlr · 03/11/2018 23:59

Does anyone actually believe in the justice system and rehabilitation?? Surely not!

God what a view to hold. Such a frothy thread.

whatsthestory123 · 04/11/2018 00:00

Hasnt he made a living out of wearing silly hats for the last 20+yrsGrin

DayAtTheRaces · 04/11/2018 00:01

Knowing how strict the US Immigration is in issuing visas for “crimes of moral turpitude” (which is why Kate Moss never works in the US because of the widespread media reports and photos of her doing a line of cocaine, even though she was never convicted) I find it strange that Boy George perfoms on stage in the States.

He did a US tour with Culture Club this past Summer and I went to the concert at the Summer Stage at the Stone Pony, Asbury Park, New Jersey. His voice is shot but the concert was a lot of fun, he is such a good entertainer :)

NorthernRunner · 04/11/2018 00:03

It’s not about them returning to work they absolutely should be able to return to work if they have served the punishment, whatever that may have been. It’s the PR around it I don’t like, he did something very wrong and whilst he may have paid his dues, I still don’t hold him in the same regard.

Ssshorty · 04/11/2018 00:03

Will Smith
Jay Z
Chris Brown
Charlie Sheen
Mark Wahlberg

Etc etc...

LilQueenie · 04/11/2018 00:06

leslie grantham was jailed for murder not that it stopped people from watching him. People can and do learn from mistakes. If you don't know them you can only see what the media shows you and that is usually dependant on what they want to show. 90% of all media is fake. Not one story is fully correct. There is always a slant.

EmbraRocks · 04/11/2018 00:08

So as long as you were on drugs at the time criminal behaviour can be excused??

limitedperiodonly · 04/11/2018 00:11

He was convicted of a serious offence of sexual violence and sentenced to 15 months. It is appalling that he is on the telly but it doesn't surprise me that Jonathan Ross thinks it is a bit of a lark

penisbeakers · 04/11/2018 00:13

Ha haha at all the minimising here.

If it were someone you didn't like you'd be gunning for blood.

He's a piece of shit.

Rebecca36 · 04/11/2018 00:16

I've never actually known the details of what Boy George did. I know it was something to do with a bloke he tied up who was obviously terrified. That is pretty awful.

However I don't think he'd have hung on to his popularity had there not been some doubt about it all.

Why don't we just leave it, hope nothing like that happens again and accept he served his sentence.
