Matched betting...could anyone talk me through it?

I've seen matched betting as a viable option to earn a little cash but am wondering if anyone can

a) tell me if it's worth the time/effort
b) explain how to get started in one words of one syllable BlushBlush

I was wondering the same Kaz, does it make any difference to the reload offers later? And should I make some mug bets before withdrawing any winnings?

Frouby · 07/11/2018 09:31

Just withdraw your winnings, you need to keep ploughing through the welcome offers before yoy start thinking about reloads. I would only do mug bets on bookies that are valuable and offer decent reloads.

With regards to a bank account, I use yorkshire bank and halifax. Just told them I wanted a seperate current account to pay specific bills from seperate from my main accounts. You can do them online.

Anyone interested in this should research the information that is already out there. On the professional websites. Threads like this are good when you have knowledgeable people posting but quiye often I see misinformation or misinterpreted advice. Use the pro sites, I taught myself MB using these and have picked up lots of solid information. But I find it difficult to explain to newbies and could easily assume you know something when you dont.

TwllBach · 07/11/2018 10:02

I have come unstuck through my own stupidity, because I didn't read the T&C's properly on BetFred and just deposited the £10 and placed a bet - the T&C's state that to access the free £30 you have to place a bet with odds over 2.0, which I didn't!

Serves me right doesn't it!!

So I shall go over to Sky Bet and follow the Team Profit guides and read the T&C's carefully BlushBlush A loss of 36p, that was!

The minimum odds are usually in the first or second line of the terms and conditions! I've already said it on here but will say it again... READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

happinessischocolate · 07/11/2018 12:08

Have you tried doing an online chat with the bookie Twllbach?

I deposited and bet £5 instead of £10 so didn't trigger the free bet. Did an online chat and they said if I deposited £10 and bet with that I'd still get the free ones.

I read the terms and conditions and make notes of the important stuff now as it's easy to forget in amongst doing the Betfair calculations and stuff

Golden0ldie · 07/11/2018 13:33

Frouby what professional websites would you recommend for a beginner please?

Tobuyornot99 · 12/11/2018 21:44

How arey fellow newbies getting along? I'm doing OK some weeks, other weeks are just treading water really, I need to be more business like in my approach I think. That said, I enjoy the process and it doesn't feel laborious.

whereiscaroline · 12/11/2018 22:04

I've been going for a week and about £110 up. Have got a £100 free bet to use but waiting until Thursday as there's not much football on until then. I don't understand horse racing yet really so don't want to risk it!

Tobuyornot99 · 12/11/2018 22:08

Ooh well done! The horses are fine, it's just bet and lay as with any other sport, you'll be grand!

happinessischocolate · 13/11/2018 06:29

I'm the same £100 up after a week but am holding out doing tge bet365 £100 bet as there's no footie this week. I am looking at the casinos/bingo/slots whilst there's no footie, but I am struggling to see how a profit can be made.

My offers are drying up too, do I need to put some mug bets on to get reloads?

picklemepopcorn · 13/11/2018 06:57

My DH would love this. He's all about numbers. He's very risk averse though, so he's not up for it right now.

Having read this thread I can give him a better idea of why it works.

Deep and meaningful KLAXON ...

will this all go horribly wrong if it turns out you are the addictive type?

This money is coming from the bookies' profits. Are we supporting gambling or undermining it?!

whereiscaroline · 13/11/2018 07:40

@happinessischocolate one of the sites, possibly Odds Monkey, has a list of the best bookies to get reload offers. I think they're the ones you want to occasionally mug bet with to keep your account open. Avoid patterns of always backing low odds with your own money and choosing higher odds for free bets.

I had a William Hill reload offer within a couple of days of my first free bet.

And re avoiding it if you're addictive, personally I think if you're in any way inclined to gamble then I'd steer clear of MB.

whereiscaroline · 13/11/2018 07:41

PS @Tobuyornot99 re the horses, I thought I read somewhere that there's a rule (Rule 4?) which changes your odds if any of the horses don't run, meaning you can end up with a loss if not careful. I may have completely misunderstood though, it's all very new and confusing to me still.

titchy · 13/11/2018 08:06

Rule 4 - the get changed at both bookie and exchange so as long as you lay at the same time you're fine.

happinessischocolate · 13/11/2018 08:51

@whereiscaroline yes WH have been great for reloads it's the others that are being stingy. I do need to do some mug bets but need to wait till the international footie restarts as I don't think betting on a small towns U23s on a Tuesday night is going to convince the bookies I'm a normal punter Grin

MissMalice · 13/11/2018 09:40

How are your offers drying up? Are you following the Team Profit £100-£1000 plan? There’s loads!

Remember to sign up with cash back sites - Quidco - www.quidco.com/raf/353572/ and TopCashback for extra cash back when you join certain sites - Betfair, Genting, Betway, PaddyPower. Have got at least an extra £50 just doing that.

tentative3 · 13/11/2018 10:01

I did most of the sign up offers over the course of the last couple of years (don't ask!), have paid for oddsmonkey for a while but let it cancel recently. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best site to learn about accas and 2ups etc?

happinessischocolate · 13/11/2018 11:59

@MissMalice I haven't done the cashbaxk ones yet news to do them tonight. I've signed up for 6/7 so far and it's only WH who are offering me reloads atm but as I only started last Tuesday that's probably normal it's just cos WH are doing me offers that I'm I'm wondering why the others aren't.

happinessischocolate · 13/11/2018 12:02

@tentative3 teamprofit does a good explanation of 2up and Acca. Google "2up teamprofit" and "Acca teamprofit" and it'll take to straight to their pages

MissMalice · 13/11/2018 12:14

@happinessischocolate Have a look at the Team Profit guides. I’m at about £300 profit after 2 weeks on welcome offers alone. Haven’t touched a single reload yet.

happinessischocolate · 13/11/2018 13:22

Thanks @MissMalice I started on the £10 guide I think (might have been £25) as although I had £100 to play with I didn't want to risk that much when I didn't understand what I was doing. The penny dropped after 2 days but I haven't got round to following the guide again, I've just been doing the bookies as per the teamprofit spreadsheet and reading the info they give on signing up with each bookie.

I'll get in the £100 guide tonight and sign up for the cash back accounts. Well done on the £300 good result 👍🏻

happinessischocolate · 13/11/2018 21:37

Can someone help me with the casinos?

I understand that you do cashback to join up and how to bet on say blackjack and I understand the slots doing the wagering. But what's the basic principle? Do you expect to be up at the end of the betting?

titchy · 13/11/2018 22:01

Casino offers - check EV is + using bonus chum or similar (or OM/PA forums). Staking your own money you don't expect to make or lose money overall. Wagering bonuses expect to bust out 80% of the time, 10% you'll make a smallish profit, the other 10% is where your real profits come from.

happinessischocolate · 14/11/2018 07:36

Thanks @titchy I get it now 😁

So I assume it can be quite time consuming

vandrew4 · 14/11/2018 08:03

happiness it can be time consuming and you can have a losing streak but I made over £7K last month doing it. Not totted up so far this month but it was £430 Monday and just under £300 yesterday.
