Applied for perfect job yesterday, can anyone hold my hand through the process?!

Just that really. Spotted job late Thursday night, barely slept as so excited, spent all Friday morning applying.

It’s an ‘exactly what I’ve been looking for but didn’t know existed’ situation. I’ve wanted to move into another field and sector that I have some of the experience for but not all that’s usually required for these roles (I’m also studying in this field to improve my chances) and this role is an amalgam of lots things I’m already great at and enjoy, with the things I’m currently learning, and isn’t asking for much experience - just enough that I’m actually a really credible candidate. It’s mostly personal competenacies and skills that I definitely have.

It’s the perfect organisation, in a sensibly commutable place, not paying much less than I’m currently on (was expecting a pay cut as trying to move from the private sector to not-for-profit) basically it looks made for me.

I sent the keenest application ever, including a supporting letter they didn’t ask for. Now it’s all I can think about and I’ve got to get through the weekend at a minimum before I’ll know anything. It doesn’t close until next weekend but they’ve said they’re interviewing throughout the process as they want some ASAP.... I’m usually so pragmatic when it comes to job hunting and very ‘what will be willl be’ but I’ll be so upset if they don’t at least interview me.

Thank you for the good luck messages and well done so far @Buffalo!

I’ve gone for two jobs and had two interviews last week. The first one went well and I think they want to offer me the job, but the salary might be lower than I was expecting, so they’re discussing that now, hopefully I’ll hear from them today. I have a second interview for the other job today, similar to Buffalo’s situation they interviewed 3 people and they liked all of us so we’re all being asked to go back and meet the director. I think this is the job I’d prefer, but I didn’t get a great feeling at interview so to be asked back is great!

Hope your coffee meeting goes well today @Buffalo Flowers

Don't be shy about telling them how much you love this job opportunity OP. A little enthusiasm can go a long way when everyone else is stuck on formal and reserved!

Something I once did in an interview (at the end as we were wrapping up) was quite genuinely compliment one of the interviewers on a beautiful, unusual ring she was wearing. Later on, the interviewer - now colleague - mentioned that she'd remembered it/me when they were discussing applicants. Didn't have a bearing on my skills for the role, but it made me memorable which has to be a good thing.

Good luck!

Don’t worry Shots I’m definitely not lacking in enthusiasm! I know I interview well, I am honest and natural in a way that makes people relax (I currently have an outward facing job that involves quickly building rapport with lots of strangers, so it’s an essential skill set)

I wish I knew what areas they wanted more clarity on so I could prepare with them in mind

Good luck for today @Buffalo.
Sending you good vibes across the web 👏

Urgh, I think that was ok. They probed quite hard on a few things, I think I did the best I could. Trying to be ‘if it’s the right thing it will be’ about it. They said they’d let me know by the end of the week.

I’ve decided given all the probing and me trying to be as honest as possible, if they don’t offer it to me it will be because they haven’t seen the right fit and I’ve ok with that. I don’t want a job I don’t fit.
