I have an appointment for Botox this week. Problem is, we have family visiting this week who were meant to have left before the appointment but have changed their plans. I’ll have to go and get the Botox done and go back home where they’ll be and I’m worryingly incase ill have marks on my face from the injections.

Am I worrying over nothing or will the marks be visible? I can’t reschedule the appointment for reasons which might put me. Thanks.

Marks unlikely to be visible. You would be unlucky to have any bruising or swelling

QueenOfMyWorld · 30/10/2018 21:21

You can sometimes get tiny red marks from the needle

LondonSouth28 · 30/10/2018 21:27

They won't be able to tell. The only thing is the dr will wipe make up off to inject at the site/s so if you go wearing make up you will need to touch it up after. No way will they be able to tell and it doesn't 'freeze' your face immediately, so they won't know.

The marks will be gone in ten minutes. I promise you that no one will be able to tell.

dogrilla · 30/10/2018 21:37

It's fine - just don't exert yourself right before your appointment. I ran to mine once because I was late and because my heart rate was up so high the pricks bled for a bit after. That's never happened since though and they are invisible after 10 mins.

porger80 · 30/10/2018 21:39

PPs would recommend it? Is the myth true that once you start you have to commit to regular treatments? Would love to give it a go

porger80 · 30/10/2018 21:40

Meant PPs would YOU recommend it?

Birdsgottafly · 30/10/2018 22:10

I've had Botox for a stubborn crease in my Forehead, it never fully came back.

I had it on other parts of my face. Now I'm 51, I've decided to go down the Radio Therapy/facial treatments route.

If I had more money, I'd have Botox again, but I shake it off quickly.

OP, where are you getting it and will your visit cause you to talk/eat/drink straight after? If so, reschedule.

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 30/10/2018 22:31

I had some pink parks that lasted less than 20 minutes.

I don't think mine was at all noticeable afterwards.

It wouldn't phase me at all to meet family or friends afterwards and that's coming from someone who told no one I was getting it done.

You'll be fine.

LucilleBluth · 30/10/2018 22:44

I would recommend it. Botox and a retinol face cream are all you can do bar a facelift. I'm nearly 38 and have been having it in my forehead and between my eyes for a year. I feel so much fresher for it. No one knows.

I will go down The facelift route in ten years. It's just who I am.

LuckyAmy1986 · 30/10/2018 22:53

I used to have it done in my lunch and go back to work. No one ever noticed.

lovelyjubbly11 · 31/10/2018 05:51

I administer cosmetic botox.

A small proportion of people will have a little bit of bruising (after all you're breaking the skin with a needle and sometimes there will be a tiny spot of blood). You'd be unlucky but it does happen - we use techniques to minimise this as much as possible.

Most of the time there's nothing to see and it takes 10 days + to start working.

theredjellybean · 31/10/2018 06:14

I have it regularly and without fail I have small red lumps for about three hours afterwards and always bruise round my eyes.
Despite ice packs and very skilled technician doing it.
It would be very obvious straight after but doesn't bother me if people know.

Pooshy · 31/10/2018 06:22

Jelly bean it might be worth trying someone else? I've had it about 20 times and have only bruised once when I didn't see my usual doctor. The replacement used bigger needles and went deeper and i got two bruises

OrdinaryGirl · 31/10/2018 06:34

After 5 mins you can't see anything out of place on my forehead. It does rather depend on your practitioner, as with the lady I used to go to years ago, there would be tiny raised marks like insect bites. Do you know anyone else who's gone to the place you're getting it done at? (Poor English but you know what I mean)

BloodyWorried · 31/10/2018 07:10

A girl at work gets Botox - I know when she has had it done because she is visibly different and frequently bruised.

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 31/10/2018 07:51

BloodyWorried you shouldn't ever be bruised after Botox. Your work friend is seeing a shit Botox therapist. There's many out there unfortunately.

Aridane · 31/10/2018 08:16

Yes, I would recommend. Don’t expect immediate results- it takes a week or so to kick in.

You don’t have to commit to regular treatments- but you will probably want to repeat when it wears off as you will like the effect it produces!

Aridane · 31/10/2018 08:19

I don’t think this will be a problem. I understand aftercare to be more about keeping upright for a bit, avoiding facials, saunas and vigorous exercise

TheGoneGirl · 31/10/2018 08:21

I've just started with fine lines on my forehead and between my brows. Would Botox get rid of them, or does it only work on actual wrinkles and creases?

Chrestomanciscat · 31/10/2018 08:23

Yes they will, the injection sites develop a small pump and the Botox disperses from there. Usually there for approx 3 hrs for me. Totally worth it tho. X

Willow789 · 31/10/2018 09:29

I had a few bruises on my forehead but I do bruise very easily. They were easily covered by foundation though

Willow789 · 31/10/2018 09:31

And yes would absolutely recommend it. It doesn't make a massive difference to my face, and I still have movement but I always look fresher and more awake when I've had it done.

BumsexAtTheBingo · 31/10/2018 10:03

I had small bumps round the injection sites for a bit but I had to really look for them in the mirror in the light. Anyone who wasn’t expecting them there wouldn’t see them.

WombleAssault · 01/11/2018 08:46

This sounds promising. Only trouble is, I’ve told them I’ve got an appointment that day and now we’re all going to have a day out in the place my appointment is. Luckily they haven’t asked yet what my appointment is. What could I say? I thought maybe I could say a facial but my face won’t look all oily afterwards so that’s probably not believable. But I wanted to say something that would sort of cover for if there are any unusual marks on my face afterwards. Any suggestions?
