I have an appointment for Botox this week. Problem is, we have family visiting this week who were meant to have left before the appointment but have changed their plans. I’ll have to go and get the Botox done and go back home where they’ll be and I’m worryingly incase ill have marks on my face from the injections.

Am I worrying over nothing or will the marks be visible? I can’t reschedule the appointment for reasons which might put me. Thanks.

I would just say you're going for a consultation about your skin, maybe a peel or something that you're planning for the future? As the other posters said you won't have visible marks. Don't take ibuprofen the day you're having it as it can cause bruising, not sure why.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, BUT, there is NO WAY, that I would go ahead with this plan. Every person reacts differently, and you've never had it before.

I have been having Botox for 10 years, and I have red pin prick marks afterwards, and visible lumps at every injection site. Sometimes, I also bruise. It is obvious for about 5 hours afterwards, and I hide away at home. My Botox Administrator is a Nurse and the best in the area, this is simply how my skin reacts.

In addition, you are advised to do facial exercises straight after Botox, to encourage the Botox into the muscles. So, things like frowning and scrunching up your face. You must also refrain from exertion (so walking around all day would be a no-no), and you must not lie down flat.

If you could have left the visitors at home, I would maybe go for it, as you could assess the situation afterwards and go home when you feel you look okay (and have maybe put on some concealer), but having to face them just minutes after treatment is waaay to risky. Unless you just tell them the truth, of course!

I’ve decided to go for it! Wish me luck!

I’m going to go with the idea of saying I’m off for a consultation about a skin peel. It’s approaching my birthday so can say it’s a pressie from DH. The place I’m going do offer peels so I can actually ask for some info while I’m there. I’ll take my makeup to touch up afterwards. Hopefully that’ll do the trick 🙏🏼

I had it on Wednesday and went to work straight after. No one can tell a thing. I had a few pinpricks dotted around but you'd have to be very close and very rude to mention them.
The peel excuse will be perfect as if there's any disturbance on your face you can explain it away. Enjoy!
Excited for you. Love BOTOX.

I had no marks from mine and no one could tell

Huskylover1 · 02/11/2018 07:50

Oh dear.

Huskylover1 · 02/11/2018 07:51

How will you cover up any bumps, bleeds etc? Are you just not going to do the facial exercises recommended then?

Girlsnightin · 02/11/2018 07:55

My nurse said the facial exercises were no longer a requirement as they made no difference.

Huskylover1 · 02/11/2018 07:56

I think it's not the end of the world if you don't do them (the exercises), but my understanding is, that you get a better result if you do (the exercises force the botox more evenly in to the muscles).

This thread has reminded me to book mine! if you get it done today it should last about 3months, so the Christmas and new year period.

It's not particularly pleasant, but no where near as horrendous as a facelift is!

Aridane · 03/11/2018 07:31

Nope - no facial exercises.

tangledyarn · 03/11/2018 07:36

I do get bruises and bleeding sometimes but easily covered with makeup and my fringe! I do have botox for medical reasons although doubt it makes a difference.

Rollypoly100 · 24/11/2018 19:19

Womble, looking forward to your update. I'm 56 and very tempted to try Botox but currently dithering!

superstarburst · 24/11/2018 21:59

Why don't you just tell them what you're going to be doing Confused Surely they'll notice in a few weeks or whatever that you've had botox anyway.

Any update on this. Be interested to know how the op got on.
