I’ve got mine out for the first time tonight and OMG what a slice of heaven it is to my tootsies

I use mine all year round for my fibro wrecked body! The radiator in my room is turned off and my window is always open as I love fresh air.
In the morning my hot water bottle is still warm, and I tuck it under my duvet in the vain hope I'll get back into bed once my animals are sorted, sadly it never happens!

FTFF · 31/10/2018 09:47

I've had mine out for weeks.
I sleep with it on my chest keeps me cosy all night.
DH even stole it last night, I was not happy!
We have the radiator off and window open so room is cool freezing but the bed is roasting.

@PeridotCricket

Yes I suspect it is menopause, I have definitely had some peri symptoms. I struggled with the heat wave massively and don't feel I've really cooled down since!

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 31/10/2018 15:11

Soft indeed! It was -8 here last night and we don't have heating on overnight.

sonlypuppyfat · 31/10/2018 19:55

-8! T-shirt weather!

OrdinaryGirl · 31/10/2018 19:57

Pro-tip: lie on your side with a HWB between your thighs if you have cold feet. It warms the blood in your femoral arteries on its way down. CENTRAL HEATING. I don't even care that it's weird. ☺️

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 31/10/2018 19:59

Oops it was only -7.5. No excuse for my weakness then 😣

Chocolateismyvice · 31/10/2018 20:08

No, not yet and I normally love mine :( I also can't bare the heating on at the moment either! But I'm 11wks pregnant and any heat is making my morning sickness worse.

9unctured6icycle · 31/10/2018 20:21

Yes, have been sleeping with two HWBs and after years of dithering I've bought not one but two types of thermal underwear - one silk, one merino. It often feels colder in the house than outside so even if it's a mild winter I think I'll get use out of them.

Sugarsnappy · 31/10/2018 20:25

I've been taking mine out in public

UnleashTheBulsara · 31/10/2018 20:31

@ShirleyPhallus - I have that same elcetric blanket that pp linked to, Dunelm have them for about half the price.

I have mine on the "super fast heat" setting, then switch it to 1hr of heat 3 when I've warmed up. Separate controllers are fab, you can have one on searing heat and the other person doesn't notice it

Hot water bottles are fab for on the sofa under a fluffy blanket when you're watching TV or reading

TroysMammy · 31/10/2018 20:36

No as I'm still using my summer quilt. I'm peri menopausal with restless legs and I'm constantly kicking the quilt off, putting it back on throughout the night. I do sometimes take the chill off the bed by giving it a blast with the hairdryer.

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 31/10/2018 20:38

@9unctured6icycle when you said "have been sleeping with two HWBs" I forgot what thread I was on and thought doesn't she mean FWB 😂

TheWiseWomansFear · 31/10/2018 20:48

We've had them out for 2 weeks 😂

TheCraicDealer · 31/10/2018 20:53

I'm too worried about scalding myself filling a HWB or it leaking....I know, but I'm a worrier. I have our electric blanket on though. A colleague got it for her mother who refused to use it after a sleepless night because she was panicking about it setting the bed on fire. Her loss was my gain- two controls, 1hr and 8hr settings. Bliss! DH doesn't really use his side, he says a warmed up Craic keeps him toasty enough.

9unctured6icycle · 31/10/2018 20:57

ItWasntMeItWasIm I guess if you have two FWBs you don't need any HWBs. :) But my life falls firmly in the HWB and thermals end of the spectrum I'm afraid.

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 31/10/2018 21:21

Mine too, much simpler! 😄

thenightsky · 31/10/2018 21:33

TheCraicDealer I used to worry about getting scalded too. When I was small, it was my dad's job to fill the family hotty bottles.

If you put a marigold rubber glove on the hand that holds the bottle you'll be fine. Plus the glove gives a really good rubber on rubber grip.

UpstartCrow · 31/10/2018 21:34

OrdinaryGirl That tip is going to be a game changer!

EnidButton · 31/10/2018 23:26

a warmed up Craic

You can't beat a warmed up craic like. Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 31/10/2018 23:37

Yep. Just put the kettle on...
