How long does it take you to get to work?

My commute is getting madder. I live 8 miles from my office. It has taken 1hour 20 minutes to get 6miles on the bus. I’m still here with two miles to go.

For comparison, the return home takes 30mins.

There’s got to be a better way.

Train station is at the end of my street then an 8 minute train journey, then a 7ish minute walk to the office.

I used to commute 1.5 - 2 hours each way and I don’t know if I could go back to that.

About 30mins including school drop off. When I have to do nursery again around 40mins. That is by car. Bus would be about 90mins (change of bus plus a walk).

Used to do 1hour each way by car (100mile round trip- all dual carriageway) so quite happy with current commute

7 minutes walk...it's one of the very few positives of my job, not having to worry about a commute!

Kemer2018 · 30/10/2018 14:53

I normally cycle. 15 minutes.

Walking 35 mins

Bus 15 mins due to shitty traffic.

Kemer2018 · 30/10/2018 14:55

I've got a car but don't want to pay petrol and parking when it won't give me any time advantage. Just a level of luxury.
I'd still have a walk from the car park though!

TroysMammy · 30/10/2018 14:56

About 10 mins having navigated 10 speed bump and 4 sets of traffic lights. Before the speed bumps and only 3 sets of traffic lights, 7 minutes.

40 minutes drive, sometimes longer if there's a tractor or a diversion. 16 miles on very rural roads.

At some times of day it would be possible by public transport if I walked or cycled 2 miles this end and one the other. That would take about 2 hours though, no direct connection even ignoring the walk each end. It also wouldn't be even remotely possible to get there early enough.

SciFiScream · 30/10/2018 15:10

If I time it right with trains I can do door-to-door in 15 minutes! (Also requires trains to be running well) it's almost 6 miles as the crow flies.
Takes me 35 minutes to cycle home.
About 40 minutes on the bus.

10 mins by car, 25 minutes walk if I'm feeling energetic
