What to eat with sausage rolls to make it a meal?

Just that really.

Making sausage rolls today and wondering what I can make with them for us to eat for dinner tonight? Was thinking beans but just sausage rolls and beans seems measly and not the most nutritious!

Apologies for this almost entirely pointless question on a Monday morning Smile

Massive pile of salad. Maybe some wedges / curly fries?

Davespecifico · 29/10/2018 08:02

Bisto. I always remember this tv programme about people coming from abroad to live here like the British. A family came to Barnstaple and made a 'British' meal of sausage rolls and Bisto gravy. Not surprisingly, they weren't keen.

Beans and peas do contain carbohydrates AND are vegetables. In fact, all vegetables contain carbohydrates.

If you mean lower carbohydrates and high fibre, I'd go for leafy green vegetables or cruciferous ones.

My husband would say mushy peas or baked beans he loves both.
And cauliflower cheese for me

BikeRunSki · 29/10/2018 08:04

Chips and beans

Titsywoo · 29/10/2018 08:06

Don't even bother trying to make a meal with sausage rolls lower carb. Chips and beans are the only option.

Thebluedog · 29/10/2018 08:06

Chips and beans, plus maybe peas if you want some veg in there too

PiperPublickOccurrences · 29/10/2018 08:07

Sweetcorn and potato wedges or mash.

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/10/2018 08:07

Mash and beans. Yum.

Hellohah · 29/10/2018 08:09

It's absolutely years since I've eaten a sausage roll, but now I'm thinking sausage roll, mash, veg and gravy would be a great tea.

MouseRatFan · 29/10/2018 08:11

Another vote for chips and beans.

OliviaStabler · 29/10/2018 08:12

I'd go beans and mash. It's cold here today and that's just the type of meal I'd want 😀

DrWendyRhoades · 29/10/2018 08:12

Wow, loads of good suggestions - thanks!

Can’t believe I didn’t think of mash, I’ve got sweet potatoes in so could use those.

I am incredibly tempted by cauliflower and broccoli cheese though. Might have to make enough for dinner tomorrow too Blush

Creamy mashed potatoes and a salad. Topped with salad cream.

Yum.

Yoksha · 29/10/2018 08:17

LongSummerDays @ 7:54 Grin. I like your style. Made me giggle.

PinkHeart5914 · 29/10/2018 08:21

It’s got to be chips & peas but I think cauliflower cheese would work really well

LesLavandes · 29/10/2018 08:28

I live sausage rolls with coleslaw

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/10/2018 08:29

Chips and homemade baked beans.
Or a jacket potato and salad.

Mash would be horrible - and gravy would be even worse.

whoami24601 · 29/10/2018 08:33

I don't even like baked beans, but that's the law isn't it?! Possibly with chips as well

mydogishot · 29/10/2018 08:37

Why are people anti mash?

Do you not have mash with a pie?
It's pretty much same thing, meat and pastry

Loyaultemelie · 29/10/2018 08:40

I say mash, peas and gravy
Dh says chips and a fresh tomato

RatBabies · 29/10/2018 08:50

Potato waffles and mixed veg is what we'd have but nobody in our house likes baked beans.

Aethelthryth · 29/10/2018 08:53

Green salad or coleslaw

amusedbush · 29/10/2018 09:34

Beans and chips!

SushiMonster · 29/10/2018 10:26

Mash peas and gravy
Chips and beans
Wedges and salad
