Not the most thrilling topic I know, but I am in need of inspiration. I've lost my cooking mojo. Hoping for some ideas before I head off to do the weekly shop.

This thread is so cringey.

Maelstrop · 28/10/2018 20:15

Pizza, shop bought
Lasagne, made from scratch
Chicken pie (made by DH, his pastry is excellent) broccoli and chips
Takeaway curry
Steak pie and chips, courtesy of DH’s work as he had to do 4 hours unexpected overtime so they paid for it.
Chicken Kievs, veg and steamed couscous.

I’m going to Aldi tomorrow and the focus will be on the aisle of wtf veg.

@incorruptibledream Take your snootiness elsewhere.

Half term here so I've pre prepped a few meals so I can save time. We're having
Chicken Korma
Sausage & mash
Shepherds pie
Pizza (with Halloween embellishments)
Beef stew, mash & veg
Might sub the sausage and mash for a lunch out at nandos or somewhere and have sandwiches that night instead.

gamerchick · 28/10/2018 20:42

@incorruptibledream how it is 'cringey' ?

They don't cook and can't see the point of meal plans? Wink

QueenOfMyWorld · 28/10/2018 20:48

Homemade cottage pie,
Slow cooker beef and root veg stew, spag bol, jacket spuds

WidoWanky · 28/10/2018 20:57

Mon - lamb stew with dumplings
Wed - ditto
Tues thurs fri - whatever gets taken out the freezer to go with mash & veg. I have sausages, chicken and pork. I like to be surprised else it gets boring. 😆
Weekend - i have chilli and curry cooked in the freezer ready to go.

No matter what i plan tho, it never fills my teens up so there is always home made veg soup of some description in the fridge. They have a mug with toast when the mood strikes after school or before bed.

My food bill is massive! 😕

Such great ideas here!! I am crap about meal planning but this has inspired me to try!

At some point this week, we will have:

  • homemade veggie curry & rice
  • jacket potatoes with beans, cheese and salad
  • picnic tea with hummus, veg, cheese, pitta and fruit (inexplicably this is the kids favourite)
  • dippy eggs with soldiers and some random veg
  • veggie soup / stew
  • grilled mackerel with rice and broccoli
  • some sort of aubergine tagine thing I saw on Ocado recipes!
  • noodle and veg stir fry with salmon or tofu
  • a take away at some point

This is basically the same as what we have every week, just not in a formal planning sort of way! More in a boring “HELP WHAT THE HELL DO I FEED THE KIDS TONIGHT!?!?” sort of a way! Blush

HellenaHandbasket · 28/10/2018 21:03

Spanish omelette and salad
Fish &cous cous, veg
Jacket potatoes
Chilli &rice, nachoes
Pizza
Roast

Saturday nights always pizza with strictly
Sunday always a roast.

First few days it is just me and the kids as DH works away, so something easy like fish, omelette etc works well.

BigGlasses · 28/10/2018 21:46

Moroccan lamb tagine
Chicken fajitas
Sausage and bean casserole
Chicken noodle soup
Macaroni cheese and broccoli

Hazandduck · 28/10/2018 21:58

Loving all the meal ideas on here. I love meal planning, it is the execution I’m not quite so good at!

Rough plan of meals:

Beef and ale stew with dumplings
Massaman veggie curry with basmati rice
Chicken enchiladas with salad and spicy rice
Tagliatelle and meatballs

Will probably play the rest of the dinners by ear, I’ve got stuff to make lasagne or baked cannelloni, and a second chicken meal (stir fry etc.)

I’m trying to make things my 11 month old DD can have too most days. Lunches I’ll make as I go, most likely will be puff pastry pizzas, leek and bacon quiche, savoury eggy muffins, pesto pasta etc stuff that she and I can have together.

Puddings I’ve made blackberry crumble tonight so will have that tomorrow and got to make something good for Bake Off Finale on Tuesday! Maybe a ginger biscuit chandelier (joke)...

Is anyone else hungry now?!

BrutusMcDogface · 29/10/2018 14:37

I'm so embarrassed to click in "threads I'm on" to see that I posted on a similar thread two days before posting on this one, and my dc had Pizza both days BlushBlushBlush
