I pass this place most mornings and had wondered how much it was!

Now I know!

I'm betting the photographer moved the island closer to the gorgeous fireplace to make the kitchen look bigger.

Grin at dusty pelmets.

Urchinella · 25/10/2018 11:58

Bit of a trek to the car when it rains or with bags.

formerbabe · 25/10/2018 12:05

I love it.

I'd happily sell a kidney, my soul, my firstborn in order to buy it Grin

Deathraystare · 25/10/2018 12:46

I've just looked at another property in another area (not London) and not for 8 Million but the dusky pink bath and sink AND the burgundy carpeted floor AND bath are putting me off (I am not able to buy, just looking by the way!). Who carpets the outside of the bath????

It is obviously an old people's house, by the look of the furniture but really!

It's nice but a ridiculous price for only 6 bedrooms. There's one near me for sale with 6 bedrooms and a sea view and 5 storeys and less than £400,000

Well, yes, but if you're a banker, it's so much harder to get to work in the City from Hartlepool. You can buy practically the whole of Plymouth for £8 million.

Though it is a matter of supply and demand, house prices are definitely messed up in London, partly driven by overseas investors buying in the very expensive parts of town.

Stabbitha · 25/10/2018 13:04

For that price I want a pool

To be fair, I didn't say "The person thinking about buying that should buy this one instead" It was more pointing out that it's a ridiculous price for that particular house

OhFlipMama · 25/10/2018 13:06

Oh my goodness that's the most gorgeous house. I've never seen one costing so much! Here (East anglia) there are many houses 1-2million but they're HUGE with paddocks, acres and acres of land etc.

PatriciaHolm · 25/10/2018 13:07

Certainly not "tranquil" around there in the summer! I used to live near there and it's bonkers whenever the sun is out, plus you get the rowers out at 6am...

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/10/2018 13:09

Traffic there is always murder.

MrsVietor · 25/10/2018 13:11

What's with harps in rich people's houses? I bet none of them have ever played the harp. Just shows you people never stop trying to show off, no matter how little they actually need to.

TellMeAboutRedditch · 25/10/2018 13:12

I didn't know you could put 45 pictures up in an ad. Blush

pallisers · 25/10/2018 13:13

Love it. Love the floorboards particularly. Also found myself googling "Victoria Sponge artwork".

Ontopofthesunset · 25/10/2018 13:19

I suppose my point was that it isn't really a ridiculous price for that particular house as that is what the market will bear. It seems ridiculous in a national context and in the context of what most of us can afford, but it is a price that someone will be willing to pay (that or thereabouts). That's what houses like that cost in London.

That's why it doesn't make sense to say you wouldn't pay that for a terraced house - you would if you wanted to live in central London because there are no detached houses in central London. Hammersmith is pushing the boundaries of central London, but it's a listed house with a lot of garden for that area and it's on the river.

FieryGhoulie · 25/10/2018 13:20

Not my cup of tea. Now a huge, but beautiful, house on a Cornish cliff - no neighbours for miles, yes please.

I live in the suburbs and I crave solitude.

Ontopofthesunset · 25/10/2018 13:20

My son once told me that he realised he must go to a really posh school because his friend's living room had a harp in it. To be fair, his friend's sister was learning the harp, but who learns the harp?

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/10/2018 13:21

And every weekend you'd have pleasure boats going past while you're enjoying your g and t .....

PumpkinSpiceAmericanoNoSugar · 25/10/2018 13:28

It's surprising the level of noise that you can learn to sleep though so long as it's expected. We used to live by the Thames in East London. We bought the flat in the winter so it was a nasty shock when summer came and the party boats started up. They are incredibly loud and went right under our window, the first time I woke up with a jolt and thought we had made a terrible mistake buying the flat. But within a few weeks I learned to sleep though it and we lived there happily for a decade, the longest I've lived anywhere since leaving my childhood home.

poppym12 · 25/10/2018 13:37

Really don't like it. Stinky river on the doorstep, attached neighbours both sides, overlooked garden and it looks like the child's bedroom pictured is more of a cupboard compared to some of the other rooms.

What2donow4 · 25/10/2018 13:38

I can't get past all the trunks in the middle of the floor in the bedroom of the second one - pictures 9 & 11. I assume they are there for artistic effect but I imagine a heroine in a novel planning to do a bunk.
