how much clotted cream do you have on scones?

We typically buy the Rodda's pot of clotted cream, 227 g. This does 4 scones + a little bit left over. I've noticed though if you get cream tea out, you get a teeny tiny pot of cream.

How much cream do you use on your scones?

Do you eat the scone in two separate halfs? I do but DP eats his whole because he's weird

I have more cream than jam.

T'is the only way

LetsHaveAnotherGo · 24/10/2018 13:55

I meant more cream than scone 😬

I have more cream than jam AND scone!

Ahem.

ShatnersWig · 24/10/2018 13:56

Yep, just butter. Same on crumpets.

I eat a generous teaspoon on a scone, my SIL tends to go for clotted cream with a side of scone!

I have this in my fridge...

As much as I can get on! Clotted cream and scones with my home made jam are the best 😋

PoesyCherish · 24/10/2018 14:29

Wow @VforVienetta - where did you get that from?

OP posts:
VforVienetta · 24/10/2018 14:30

Tesco in Cornwall!!

PoesyCherish · 24/10/2018 15:27

Aww bummer I'm hundreds of miles away from there.

I have a huge dilemma with all of this. Born in Devon and living in Cornwall. I am relying on Theresa May to have made the cream/jam issue part of the Brexit negotiations so we know exactly where we stand on this matter.

prettybird · 24/10/2018 15:36

Because I'm on the MN HFLC BootCamp, I'm enjoying clotted cream by the teaspoon(s) full - on their own Grin

A friend and I had a scone with cream and jam in a new cafe recently and I was expecting the normal - uncut and possibly slightly warm scone, a pot of jam and a fcking enormous pot of clotted cream.
Instead it came to us not just ready cut, which is an abomination in itself but (brace yourselves) ready spread and then SANDWICHED TOGETHER!

So barely any filling at all. It looked like we were 5 years old and our mums had prepared them so we didn't eat too much. Boy it looked so sad.

We won't go back

You need to put that on Tripadvisor. People must be warned.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 24/10/2018 16:32

Eliza you're right, I think I will! Saving the world from Bad Afternoon Tea, one scone at a time...

DoubleLottchen · 24/10/2018 16:41

Tellme even though you warned me to brace myself, my face was still like this Shock. (Though I couldn't help laughing too)

How could someone who runs a cafe (and so presumably likes food) think that is acceptable??!

Shockers · 24/10/2018 16:44

As much as the scone will hold.

Then lick the spoon.

Shockers · 24/10/2018 16:49

Ooh, that’s a big one V!

Mine’s average size (and almost empty).

Tiggles · 24/10/2018 16:53

I think the question is "how much scone with your cream?"

Catpyjama · 24/10/2018 16:53

Sorry but what the heck is up with your DP, it's a scone not a sandwich!

At least a tbsp per scone. Jam first though.

Redcrayons · 24/10/2018 16:53

Well there’s never any left over.

PoesyCherish · 24/10/2018 16:58

Exactly!! He's a blooming weirdo is what he is.

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplands you should definitely do a Trip Advisor review. That's awful, can't believe they thought it was acceptable to sell that! We don't even do that with 6 year old DSD

Thank you for this thread - I had to eat the last scone. Will deal with the fallout from DP later

Eeeeek2 · 24/10/2018 17:14

There wouldn't be any of the 227g left over

ForalltheSaints · 24/10/2018 17:15

None. Butter or jam for me.

PrincessWire · 24/10/2018 17:34

OP your cream pot would do 2 scones here. 3 at a push.
