Would you walk out of a film you hated?

A couple sat near me in the cinema tonight were both on Facebook for most of the evening, and left at the closing credits muttering ‘that was fucking shite’.

Why didn’t they just leave? I couldn’t sit through something that was clearly boring me to death.

I went to see First Man last night and wish I has walked out, I bet that was the film OP went to see.

Truly, mind numbingly boring. How they managed to take something so fascinating and made it so dull is beyond me.

DH and I walked out of Insidious. We were just dating then, and I think he was really enjoying it 😊 but I was just sick of the "look at our cool special effects thing folding the street up!" business.

FabulousTomatoes · 22/10/2018 09:27

No, but that’s because I rarely go to the cinema because they are imo ghastly over priced places full of people incapable of going more than five minutes without stuffing their faces or fiddling on their phones! Grin

Dh and I did switch Bridget Jones’s Baby off on Netflix the other night after twenty minutes because it was so god awful. So I probably would have walked out on that had I seen it at the cinema.

@FabulousTomatoes Vue tickets are £6 near me and we take our own snacks & drinks if we want to save money.

Cocobana · 22/10/2018 09:41

You can get cheaper cinema tickets on grouping as well and through certain work deals

Cocobana · 22/10/2018 09:41

groupon

I would have walked out of the first Star Trek film but I was with a big bunch of mates (otherwise I would never have gone as I didn't even like the TV series) and I was also in the middle of the row.

Feels very wrong to be saying this but DH and I did walk out of the live show of Goodness Gracious Me because a lot of it was in Punjabi which is fine if it's visual enough to "translate", but it wasn't, so most of it went completely over our heads. We weren't the only ones.

KingPenguin · 22/10/2018 09:58

No because I always think it might get better.

I should've walked out of The Darkest Minds along with at least half of the people in there. I've never seen so many people playing on their phones and generally fidgeting through a film.

OutPinked · 22/10/2018 10:04

Yes I got forced to go see pirates of the Caribbean and after approx half an hour I couldn’t stand it anymore so walked out.

TheShrieksShallInheritTheDeath · 22/10/2018 10:45

hmmwhatatodo

I've also left halfway through a performance of "Waiting for Godot". Was excruciatingly boring, and friends and I enjoyed drinking in the bar during the interval, so just stayed there!
I bet half of those people you were with who said it was great were only saying that to look clever!

longwayoff · 22/10/2018 10:56

Sometimes you have to. I am pretty forgiving with live performance but last year we had tickets for the worst production I have ever seen on a stage, including amateur dramatics and school plays. Dire fails to describe it. Left at interval together with many others. Cinema, no problem, nobody to offend. If I don't like it I'm gone. Life's too short.

DGRossetti · 22/10/2018 11:35

I've never walked out of a bad film (and boy, have I seen some turkeys).

I did have to walk out of "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover", when it all got a bit too much ... EnvyEnvyEnvy. Which is weird, as I happily watched the dissections on Channel 4. Set and setting, I guess.

Zummerzetzider · 22/10/2018 11:48

Slept through How to train your dragon 2.

Really wanted to sleep through Team Titan but had a 9 year old keep nudging me to see if I was still awake. Can't wait till he's old enough to go to the cinema on his own Grin

IJustLostTheGame · 22/10/2018 13:38

I've both walked out of films and fell asleep in the cinema. I fell asleep to the Matt Damon growing potatoes in space film, I would have left but DH liked it. Plus the seats in the picture house are really comfy.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 22/10/2018 20:10

I love this plot summary 😆 I really enjoyed this film, but I can see why it might not be enough to counter comfy seats, a darkened room...

Muckingston · 22/10/2018 20:12

Walked out of Independence Day and night in a museum. Terrible.

Disneydilemma · 22/10/2018 20:19

Walked out of final destination because it freaked me out so much Blush
And outnof mamma Mia because it was shite
