What the fuck is this in my house?

Just found this. Don't tell me it's a slug. It's not. I just salted it (sorry I had to as it freaked me out) and it did not behave like a salted slug. Also, it has a 'head' more like some kind of larva but Google is not helping me. Any ideas? I can handle spiders, mice etc but this gives me the shivers.

A brazil nut (though its very shiney)

Or someone has seen if they can polish a turd . (The answer is "No but you can roll it in glitter" )

Where is it , how big is it , does it move , is it slimey?

ileclerc · 20/10/2018 23:10

I'm pretty sure it's a slug. Maybe it's dead already! Can you put something next to it for scale?

PanamaPattie · 20/10/2018 23:10

How big is it?

LuluJakey1 · 20/10/2018 23:12

It looks like a slug.

How big is it?
Is it soft or has it a hard coat?
Can you get a picture with it's head out?
Does it move like a slug or has it got legs?

Put it on a bit of card and put it in the garden.

Theyrecomingforme · 20/10/2018 23:12

It's about an inch long. I know it looks like a slug but when I poured a load of salt on it it hardly reacted and I could see a head that wasn't like a slug's head. I think it's dead now but it is under a mound of salt.

It's on my floor downstairs.

It's a slug.

Just chuck it outside.

DomesticAnarchist · 20/10/2018 23:13

No, it's one of those wingless moths.., hang on...

Theyrecomingforme · 20/10/2018 23:14

I catch and put out spiders all the time but wriggly or slimy things are a no from me.

OP posts:
PurpleAndTurquoise · 20/10/2018 23:15

Sorry but it's a slug.

DomesticAnarchist · 20/10/2018 23:17

If it's slimy and on the floor it probably is a slug.

But if it's not, I reckon it's a vaporour moth wingless female: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orgyia_antiqua

Yes, please stop torturing it & put it outside!

NightmareDaemon · 20/10/2018 23:21

Why, oh why, do I google things I read on Mumsnet? I didn’t need to know about the wingless moth. Y’all give me nightmares!

Is it squishy/slimy?

GunpowderGelatine · 20/10/2018 23:22

Ooh please never salt slugs I did once and it exploded and I felt bad for days

LuluJakey1 · 20/10/2018 23:26

I think it is a common garden slug. Poor thing. Put it outside and pour cold water on it.

Nesssie · 20/10/2018 23:32

How does salting it solve the problem?
Either way the slimy thing is still on your floor. It’s not like they are fast or are going to bite you. It’s basically the same whether it’s alive or dead except it just suffered a quite painful death.

mycatplotsdeath · 20/10/2018 23:37

Kill it
Kill it with 🔥

AtSea1979 · 20/10/2018 23:40

Poor slug. Please don’t salt them. You still need to remove it so why not just put them outside rather than torture them.

Rebecca36 · 20/10/2018 23:46

Looks like a slug to me. They come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they're friendly too.

davisday · 20/10/2018 23:48

Why would you put salt on it Sad

Babybearsporij · 20/10/2018 23:50

Could it be a leech?

Chalkhillblu3 · 20/10/2018 23:52

Could be a leech

LurkingWaspi · 20/10/2018 23:52

Is it Dr. Adrian Harrop wannabe G.P who dislikes Mumsnetters so much that he spends most of his medical life making up nasty tweets about us?

If so, more salt please.

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 20/10/2018 23:54

It looks like a freshwater leech

Urbanbeetler · 20/10/2018 23:54

I think leech too. Do you have a dog?
