Anybody tamed a feral kitten?

A few days ago dd1 and her friend found what appears to be an abandoned feral kitten(from the look of it just couple of months old max). On the advice of loca! rescues have been putting food down but have not yet been able to catch it. We now have a trap down but it seems to be too light to trigger it so we're going to see if we can get a smaller one from the rescue.

Dd1 and dd2(aka the cat whisperer as she seems to have a knack with cats) want to keep it if we catch it, I've not definitely said yes or no, I had cats growing up and as a teenager tamed a feral adult who turned into one of the most affectionate cats I've known.

Just wondering if anyone else had experience with feral kittens

Cats have amazing personalities. I had a domestic cat that lived a feral life, and adopted a totally feral cat from the streets of Manila and it couldn't bear to not be in the same room as me. Totally affectionate. It really depends on the cat!

@Shmithecat your cats are gorgeous. I would also like to derail the thread and ask you where you got your cushion covers from?

My female cat is part feral, she was born in a friends garden and I adopted her when she was 8 weeks old. She adores me, she likes DH and isn't keen on other people.

I see the bossy side of her personality, get the cuddles and she talks to me. She is nice to DH, but she is skittish around everyone else.

She is quite small but she can catch pigeons which are bigger than her 😮

We got an approx 6 week kitten from a farm. He was full of fleas and worms and hid under the furniture for about a week. He grew into the most magnificent creature who would stretch across our open arms and hang backwards. He was very wary of strangers but loved us to bits. We lost him to cancer about four years ago and still miss him. Our Jack Russell was full of respect for our big fat cat too

@sockportal, I have no idea. We're currently in KSA, living in furnished accommodation...

Most of my cats have been feral kittens/cats. I spoiled them rotten and then they loved me. It's disgusting really. The last one won't leave me alone, follows me literally everywhere. He's so cute, as he walks between my legs trying to trip and murder me, he won't watch where he's going, just looks up at my face constantly. Six years old and still does it.

In retrospect, i do not advocate having cats, they never stop being cute and yet, total pain in the arse.

btw. The people saying that cats are aloof, are confused regarding what constitutes proper slave behavior and clearly not nice enough to their babies. Feral adult cats always start out aloof if not downright avoiding you like crazy but once they trust you, it's over, they'll never leave your side. Mine are basically damn dogs.

I have no life, obv. Blush
