What would you do if you won the million raffle on lotto?

Santaclarita · 20/10/2018 20:49

I put tickets on tonight, hoping that I win even the million raffle. Already know how I'd spend it.

Would give my parents and partners parents 100k each.

Then buy the house I love. And furnish it obviously.

I would also buy a 2 bedroom house to rent out for a bit of extra income. Maybe buy two if I can get two cheap enough.

Then the rest put into a savings account and have a really nice holiday as well next year.

What would you do?

Surgery top-to-toe.

Starting with my eyes (laser for short sighted) teeth (have all implants) boobs (hoiked up) tummy tuck , lipo on my bum
All unwanted body hair IPL

Actually my feet are ok, I;ll keep them.

Not much change from a million I reckon.

Maelstrop · 20/10/2018 20:53

Million? Not enough. I’m hoping for the Euro millions. We worked out that we’d need 8 mill to buy the house we want, make everyone in the family comfortable and never have to work again.

Maelstrop · 20/10/2018 20:53

And I want to go to a fat farm to get myself in shape.

Blankscreen · 20/10/2018 20:56

Pay mortgage off

Buy a range rover sport.

Pay for dh to have hair implants.

Book a family holiday to Disney world next summer.

Buy 2 properties (1 for each of the kids) for when they are older.

Doubt there'd be any left but if there was I would buy a minibus for the kids school or out a do arion towards it.

HighwayDragon1 · 20/10/2018 20:57

House
Holiday
Car
Debt

That'd leave about 100k for savings.

ALemonyPea · 20/10/2018 20:58

I'd pay my small mortgage and all other debt off, then give the house to my mam.

Buy a lovely house on the estate I long to live in.

Buy a top of the range Honda CRV.

Have a huge family holiday

Give my siblings some money

Pull my DS2 out of school and homeschool him with a tutor.

travailtotravel · 20/10/2018 21:07

£1m - move.
More - quit work - yee haw!

mostdays · 20/10/2018 21:08

Buy a house, give family some money, save some for the dc, save some for our old age. The peace of mind would be incredible. I can't imagine what it must be like to have that sort of security tbh!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 20/10/2018 21:09

I'd help a few friends/family, take the DC on a holiday of their choice and buy Supernanny to deal with my dickheaded dog who today decided to eat an entire suet block DH left in the utility room and vomit it spectacularly all over the landing, then roll in the fat-vom.

TulipsInBloom1 · 20/10/2018 21:10

Pay off both sets of parents mortgages (under 100k each), pay off my own (100k). Put 20k into trust for neice when she turns 25.

Put 50k each into trust for my own dc for when they turn 25.

Take dc to Disneyland Paris and bank the funds for an epic holiday when they become teens. (30k).

Bank the rest. Drop to part time. Buy a seond, second hand, car. Start using a personal trainer. Take 1k each for me and dh to buy ourselves a treat. Bank money for the 2 dcs for uni if they choose to go. Get a cleaner. Buy a dishwasher. Buy a tumble dryer.

Gammeldragz · 20/10/2018 21:11

Buy a house for 500k. Set up a decent pension for DH as he's self employed. Put some in savings for the DCs to support them through university or other plans. Set DH up with a workshop for his business.
We'd still need to work so it would all be about minimising future expenses and setting ourselves up for comfortable retirement.
Take the family to Spain next year when I qualify, house with a pool and eat out every day!

Gammeldragz · 20/10/2018 21:12

However I don't play the lotto and kind of have issues with it from a moral/ethical perspective.

SimplyPut · 20/10/2018 21:28

Move to a house with a bigger garden/decorate as I please.
Pay off car.
Book a few days in London with DH/DCs to indulge.

Put 50k in trust for each DC =150k
Give parents, inlaws and siblings 25k each = 150k

C0untDucku1a · 20/10/2018 21:33

Mortgage free home.
Get my hair cut and coloured at the hair dressers.
New car.
Buy a house in France.
Big £10k holiday next year.
Savings.
Invest.

DinosApple · 20/10/2018 21:41

Buy two properties to rent, with a view for them being for the DC when they came of age (say around £500k gone).

£50k for parents, £50k to DB & BIL (so 650k gone). 10k each for nephews, neices and goddaughter.

That leaves 300k to get a bigger house, bung some in a pension, and a decent second hand car. Would be able to drop down to part-time in a low stress job.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 20/10/2018 22:19

£200k for a 5 bed house (welcome to the cheap seats!) bear my son’s school.

Chuck a bit in the bank for each of my children.

Learn to drive and buy a sensible car.

Bank the rest.

Ariela · 20/10/2018 22:52

I don't really need the money as such as we are doing ok, although I could find things to spend some of it on, but I'd play Secret Millionaire. I love sending little bits of money off to people/organisations to make changes to their lives. eg last year I sent enough money to train 10 volunteers to help with a local reading scheme - they go into schools and help individual children that are struggling, so that they get brought up to the same level as the rest of their class. That will mean several children get a better start in life.
I also treated a couple of families/people to little things that made a big difference to them (can't be specific as too outing).

One thing I'd do is a friend of mine needs an electric wheelchair of a certain kind, to help her access a more independent life. NHS won't fund it even though without it she's going to need operations far far more frequently which will cost a LOT more than the wheelchair. I just can't afford the £17K this will cost right now, so the first 17k of my winning million would go on that.

darkriver198868 · 20/10/2018 22:56

I would clear my debts.
Buy a house of my own.
Attend intensive therapy to try and sort my MH out.

topsyanddim · 20/10/2018 23:00

You’re going to buy 3 houses with £800k -where do you live!

Being in London I’d buy a decent 4 bed and live mortgage free

C0untDucku1a · 20/10/2018 23:08

You’re going to buy 3 houses with £800k - where do you live!

Hmm Every time someone mentions house prices anywhere out of London / south east, without fail, this is the response.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 20/10/2018 23:09

topsy I live in a very poor area of the north east. For £500k I could buy three or four basic 2 or 3 bedroomed houses.

If I bought my council house it would cost me about £75k.

Some areas are just ridiculously cheap.

SpaceCadet4000 · 21/10/2018 01:46

Pay off our relatively small amount of remaining debt, buy a house, have a child, use the money we would have spent on rent/mortgage to pay for an MBA.

SpaceCadet4000 · 21/10/2018 01:47

(house would probably be in London... hence why there isn't much leftover!)

Seniorschoolmum · 21/10/2018 01:57

Pay off the mortgage, give up work, send ds to a better school.

Worry less. Smile

sdaisy26 · 21/10/2018 06:57

Pay off the mortgage, work less if at all and enjoy the freedom.

Really though I reckon I need a good £150 mill euromillions to completely change my life.
