I (accidentally) punched my dog

Taking Ddogout for a walk earlier. Had his ball in my hand and as I went to throw it he jumped to catch it. Resulted in my hand meeting his rock hard head head with a very nasty crack.

It swelled up straight away so I went to minor injuries and I've broken my ruddy finger! Dog is 100% fine... His head is apparently much harder than my hand.

How's that for a stupid injury?!

I used to know a horse that would lovingly rest his jaw on top of your head. It felt all snuggly and cute until he lifted his head and smashed it down on yours! Horses have big, long, sharp jawbones and it bloody hurts!

He used to do it to people he only just met - the ones that knew him either stayed away or wore a hat. I miss him...

Oh yes horses' heads.
Where I used to go horse riding, two of the horses accidently head butted each other while grazing. The noise Shock of solid bone on bone (one of them was phenomenally thick, I'm sure it was solid bone ) .

My cat likes to sit on the side of the bath while I'm in it. Once I was in a bubble bath and he fell in, scratched all my legs as he scrambled to get out and ran off. I jumped out and chased after him worried about him and slipped over in the hallway 🙄. My legs were all cut from the scratching and bruised from the fall. Bloody cat.

My DH was once powerfully kicking a ball across the field for our terrier to chase. She anticipated the kick and ran directly into the path of the ball where it hit her smack in the ribs and bowled her over.

DH was horrified but the little brat was fine. She's pretty tough.

Our irish wolfhound has chipped one of my top front teeth when he head butted me and give me hellish friction burns on both hands trying to catch a squirrel.

@Chesntoots,

I used to work with horses and was sorting out a nasty cut on the back of a cannon bone. Leaned close to see what I was doing (was using a torch because it was pitch black) and the bloody horse lifted his knee a fraction and smacked me straight on the eyebrow. My whole eye swelled up like is been punched. I spent weeks deflecting questions because everyone thought I'd been hit.

Hand is starting to get sore now. 😑😑😑 It's a good job that he's cute or I'd have killed him by now.

GrinGrinpoor doggy and poor horse!

I bit through my tongue once after a mistimed jump from my Mums dog, trying to pick it up, dog helpfully jumped up and collided with my jaw.
My old dog was tough as old boots, she was chasing a ball, didn't see a wall, ran into it, heard this awful thump, she just shook her head, picked the ball up and came running back.

Sexnotgender · 21/10/2018 10:48

My dogs head is like concrete, I can well imagine he didn't even feel it!

Our pit bull is an expert at breaking noses with his head. He broke mine when he leapt over the bed to say hi (I was on the other side), DWs when she made the mistake of talking to him when she clipped his claws and the vet nurses when she did exactly the same thing a few months later.

We tried to tell the vet nurse to just ignore him, don’t talk to him and don’t make eye contact as he’s very excitable but she didn’t listen. They disappeared into the back, we heard her telling him he was ‘such a good boy’, then crash, scream, lots of swearing. Her colleague came out about 15 later with the dog, apologised for the damp patches and explained she’d had to wash the blood off him as he’d broken the vet nurses nose.

Dogs have got very hard heads, I reckon hitting a cinder block would hurt less.

My dog gave me a black eye once as well. We lived in a terraced house with a long kitchen and then a long living-room with the sofa at the front, and our springer loved running the entire length of it and flinging herself against the back of the sofa. Our other dog, who's a lurcher/collie mutt of very little brain, used to watch her in total bemusement. One day I was on my hands and knees getting something out from under the sofa. DH shouted 'Don't look up!', so of course I looked up, and my cheekbone collided with a high-speed lurcher/collie skull - he had chosen that precise moment to try the sofa game, realised too late that I was there and completely failed to stop.

QuestionableMouse · 21/10/2018 14:34

Yes, it definitely hurt me a lot more than him. He's adorable but has a head like a rock. I'm crying laughing at some of these stories though... At least it's not just me who has been injured by their pet!

My cat accidentally clawed me dead across the nipple, I had to wear nipple pads for a week. Never cuddle your kitty topless, the lesson I learnt there Blush

I was bending down to tie my shoe lace and my dog went to jump on the couch and basically smacked my nose side on with his head there was a HUGE crack sound and I went "oh" held my nose and then the blood came 😱 had to get my dad to run me to a&e where it bled for an hour and a half and stopped right before a doc saw me! Apparently it wasn't broken but for 6 years after I made this weird snuffling sound and was in agony when it was cold. Was a bit more cautious when he was jumping about after that.

Had to laugh at the comment about the 'attention seeking title's would make people read it.
Rather thought that was fundamental to putting a post on a forum. Cute dog OP.
